He’ll definitely be pushing the climate change narrative after this winter

So does that mean the 200 or so billion being spent of our tax money on climate change is not working.....maybe 400 billion is the magic number where we will see some return on the waste......

The rest of my family are travelling for March break - my son and I are home - hoping for a turn of weather for that so we can go riding, if not - then lets get the bikes, boats, pwcs, fishing rods and golf clubs out

I think you’ll be able to ride, ideally around your parents place or possible trailer a bit further.

It feels like winter is done in many areas

    , but I don’t think so.

  3. As a manufacturer you build x number of sleds per year that need to go to dealerships to keep the assembly line moving, etc….so I understand the theory behind it, especially with good and bad years that no one can really forecast.
There will always be buyers and as long as the manufacturer provide the incentive rebates to dealers when products don’t sell in a timely manner, I think it’s not a bad system.

Having dealers as well that sell all lines of products means they should be able to absorb a bad year with sleds but good year with other product lines - it’ll help balance the books when you consider all 12 months and not just 3 or 4 months of sledding.

Taking down my Christmas lights in a long sleeve t-shirt. Not crisp here 😁

lol, well crisp considering the last week…I think it was around -5!

Lots of white this AM, but it's just frost. Haven't seen that for a while.

Ya, it was a crisp beautiful morning….although too much sun and not enough white on the ground, but nice regardless.

  6. I think there is even an acception that if you are going to said lake to fish, you can use the OFSC trail to get to lake in order to fish witghout a trail pass.....or if yuo have a cabin that is accessed by an OFSC trail.

I am sure someone will be able to corect or clarify this, but I recall this was always an exception, with certain guidelines applied.

But sounds like you have an alternate way to get to lake anyways, so not applicable.

Sledding has gotten so far away from its grass roots that is not even funny.

it has now become a recreational hobby for the elite.

i am 48 and have never not owned a sled, they have been in our family since before I was born.

at those prices,  and given the shift in availability of conditions, I won’t be buying another one.

there is just way too many other enjoyable things to do out there for a lot less and that are not dependent on weather.

    Yep, have to agree.

Reading the other posts above, looks grim, but we are all, or mostly all looking out at green grass at the end of Jan with minimal yellow or green trails - funny how our minds can swing when conditions are different, assuming things actually get better.

Need to rationalize what makes sense for each and go with it.

I try to be optimistic about things, but that is hard this year....atleast regarding this activity.

Just falling in line with BRP pricing

Is it - does a 2-stroke DOO or POO cost that much?

I can look it up, just not sure right now.

Regardless, and to sound like the broken record, just insane.....but some will buy, maybe not as many in the next year of course based on the banner season upon us.....

Talk about horrible timing for Cat to release the new engine in the new chassis!

    White to green over night.

we can just move along to summer now, it’s time to flush this winter good-bye.

Feeling pretty good about the decision on the rink I am sure.

See the odd person around here that did there's, dont think I have seen them used yet though.

I am thinking its almost a better idea to have the sleds down here than in Huntsville- seems this area -or the area just north of KW -etc. - can turn and be able to be rideable so quickly - given my very limited schedule - that might be better

seeing and hearing the reports of guys riding this southern area is great to see.
there is a large fan base there and so many talks over the years of why there are clubs and equipment there, but here you go, went from zero to open trails in a few days!

it can happen again, regardless of date on calendar, time will tell.

Lets go one step further.  It's a combine traveling up the road turning left.  He's probably running up the shoulder due to his width.  But he's not stopped and is traveling the road.  Not saying I'm right.  But it makes for an interesting argument.  If it were a motorcycle how is it interpreted?  Too many drivers these days don't slow down when overtaking smaller and / or slower vehicles.  Glad no one was hurt.  Definitely take your time and look behind you before crossing or turning left on a road.

Aside from size, the sled started his turn 150 feet or more before the corner and that is just wrong. JMHO

if I’m turning left and a vehicle is passing me on my left, or right for that matter, I’m expected to look for vehicles passing on either side before I turn into possible passing vehicle.
This has been my understanding for a long time since I know of more than one person a while ago that didn’t look before turning and were found at fault.
Of course, that was vehicle and vehicle, this is vehicle and sled.

Interesting to see the differing view points here. If i was on a bench in that one? Sled guilty of careless driving. Trucker zero charges. Sled at fault 100% in my eyes.

I think all or almost all feel it’s the sledder being irresponsible and at fault, but the question lies on how if something did happen, how our glorious judicial system would handle it n this wonky day and age….

A lot of people bitched at how old the Procross was and that it had fallen behind the others. But I still like it. It just fits me better.
I was in the shop this morning going back and forth to see where I need to change the Mach to feel more like the Cat. The difference is in the distance from the rear of the seat to the footwells. The Mach is definitely shorter. I have to sit on the tail of the Mach seat to get the same knee bend.

Get a new seat. I grabbed one off an 850. Supposed to be way better. But I dont have any seat time yet

I have rode back to back the two 4-strokes (Cat and Doo) - you are right, the cat is more roomy sitting on the seat and better fitted for taller people, and from what I recall, you are a taller guy, the Doo is more confined.

I have been meaning to buy the 850 seat that is higher and firmer, the comfort seat on the Doo is way too soft and too low, imo.....I bought the 850 seat, waiting to try it out as well myslef and finding time to get out now that trails are opening up. The issue you may see though with the 850 seat is it is a much shorter seat than the Doo comfort and the Cat seat, but it is higher/firmer......

I think with adjustments, you will find the front of the Doo can handle much better than it does now, I did.....the rear is better for sure on the Doo.

I find the Doo steering to be much lighter than the Cat, unless your cat has PS, but I do not think so based on year......but again, this is set up mostly.

My doo feels like power steering compared to the 4-stroke cat....lol.

Overall, I thought the Doo, after set up, was so much nicer to ride than the Cat, but the Cat I rode was the RR version with the firmer suspension, so take that for what it is worth.

The power is not even close like you said, the Cat I rode had a tune so not fair, but it has a lot of jam.....hoping my Doo have some more jam this season......:coffeenose:

And I like the ice ripper, I like to have rear slipping and sliding, but I know some really like to be firmly planted too with studs.

    Meh……..lol

It’s alright. I was hoping I would like it more than I do right now and most likely with more seat time and adjustments, I will.

8 years on my Cat so I have to compare. 1 ride and I miss my studs. Ice Ripper needs to go. Steering is heavy which I figured it would be. I find the seating is too far forward, banging my knees on the console, Cat felt more spacious. Cat front end is better in the corners. The ride is better on the Skidoo, especially the rear. The hand and thumb warmers are great and the multiple settings is handy. Can’t even compare the gauges, Doo by far but I have a lot to learn.

From the seat of the pants, the Cat pulls way harder. Prefer the Cat exhaust tone. The Doo drones at low speeds.

Interestingly, I was told I would never use the comfort setting for the Smart shocks as it’s too soft. I was preparing to send my shock module in to Precision EFI for their programming. Well, I couldn’t stand sport mode. It bothered my hands and shoulders cause the bars shook so bad. I switched to comfort and thought it was great, could be a tad softer yet for me but a huge improvement over Sport and never bottomed once.

And I miss my heated seat…….lol

    Good report and comparison!

    Quick hi-jack.

My daughter has her G2 - we did all the driver training etc. - and I spent a lot of time with her myself.

Anyway - her road test for her G2 - was 7 1/2 minutes long - that was it - in 7 1/2 minutes they issued her a G2 and sent her out into the wild.

It has been a while, but I recall my driving test being a lot longer......some local roads with stop signs, yields, etc....., a nearby highway, parrallel parking, parking in a parking lot......

    Guess there were cut backs....lol

Driver training is a joke. I cant get across town without witnessing multiple people that should not be driving on public roads. No etiquette, no common sense. Dont even get me started on the fast lane

Anyway...... next to no new snow in Owen Sound and only calling for an inch here and there by sunday.

    You mean "passing lane".... :)...lol

Of topic, but drivers and their judgement or lack of confidence behind the wheel is insanely poor.

Othewise, awesome pictures of the winter that has shown up!!!
