    'That'll leave a mark...' :poke2:

I know there's Goo Gone or other cleaners by why put it somewhere in the 1st place that if you remove it you leave a mess?

Back to the windshields, someone mentioned buffeting a few days ago w/ the version @Techdenis007 possibly. Has anyone noticed this w/ higher windshields? Also what about snow dust accumulating behind it on the dash. I noticed that it was bad this trip mind you it snowed 4 out of the 5 days we were riding.

Goo Gone works quite well. I usually take last years permit off the windshield and clean the residue once it gets hot enough that I start to miss it being cold.

Nothing. My sled is perfect the way it is, stay out of debt and save the money for travelling next season. Inflation going to go big over the next year.

Same here... Current sled is perfect for me. Save the money for fuel... especially with the added carbon tax going up 33% April 1

Bluewater is great to deal with as I posted in another thread. Also I would go with the legend cargo style trailer better quality but it is more money. Cargo trailers are easier to load and more flexibility. I have a 7 by 17 legend DVN tandem and works great. I would go two feet longer to not have to back in the second sled if I was ordering again. Everyone that I know with a front door says they never use it and would likely not get it again.

tandem axel also tows wayyyyy better not only for the reassurance as mentioned above. Less bounce and sway and tongue weight depending on your set up. Just a better balanced trailer.

Not to mention the better weight capacity of the tandem. Assuming you have a 3500 lb single axel you only have 2250 lb towing capacity per the specs posted. So two sleds full with oil, fuel etc. Then add your gear and jerry cans and what not and you can be getting close to capacity.

    my thoughts anyway.

The only draw back to the cargo trailers I have heard from a couple of people with them is that the floor is lower to the ground than most snowmobile trailers. On my hybrid for example the wheels are under the trailer with significant distance between them and the floor. With a cargo trailer the wheels are either on the outside of the trailer or wheel wells cut into the trailer. The minor problem comes when pulling into a parking lot or area that hasn't been plowed. The bottom of the trailer is dragging through (plowing) the snow and more prone to getting stuck than just having to get the truck and trailer tires to cut through the snow.

Since no input yet, here is my 2 cents with some caveats. I didn't sled or travel to Kearney this winter because of COVID. My brother has a place out side of town, for over 20 years, so I've seen many changes in Kearney.

If I go up alone for sledding I go out for food, both lunch and dinner. Whenever I or the group I sled with stop anywhere for lunch, all of us like a pub style menu and most often have the soup of the day (or some soup) and some type of sandwich or burger.  A set meal is to much food, most often, for most of us "old guys", at lunch.

At dinner, a set meal is considered; however, having alternative choices to the set meal is desirable.

I agree on the set meal aspect. I have been to many places where that's all they have on the menu. Try getting just a sandwich, just a burger etc. They all come with something else.

we always asked, never a problem......changing times I suppose.

Don't forget this has been a really difficult year financially for almost every service business to even survive in. I wouldn't have any problem at all with prices going up and charging for things like parking a truck and trailer, particularly when I ride off for a few days and am not staying there. A lot of places are fighting to pay their bills. We find we are ordering more take out than we would have dined out this past year in order to support our local businesses. We are also tipping much more generously for take out than we would have for dine in. The staff in these places are struggling as well.

Just the piece of mind having an extra axle brings. I do service it regularly at Saunders in st Jacob’s. Just never know if you make longer trips and something goes wrong. At least with dual axle you can make it back home. Kind of like carrying insurance you may need it or you may not.

I was happy my boat trailer is tandem axle. A couple of years one of the trailer tires on the road side decided to give up the ghost on the 400. It would have been running on the rim instantly without the extra axle. The remaining tire on that side got us off the 400 and into a commuter lot where I could easily and safely put on the spare.

Clearly they don't know when land use agreements expire in that area..

and unfortunately way too many ASSUME that a snowmobile trail becomes an ATV trail in the spring and summer. We lost a section of C trail causing a reroute for that exact reason. Some are shared trails and some landowners grant permission for ATV's in the warmer seasons but not all. I have even heard an ATV rider filling up with gas commenting to his buddy... "I'm glad I carry bolt cutters with me now, too many idiots are padlocking the gates to OUR trails"

    New one posted today!

Don't shoot me for the question... there may be some drawbacks but would it be reasonable to provide some sort of contact information where snowmobilers could individually reach out to these generous people and actually express their appreciation.

You are right, I was on the market for a new drive in trailer but decided to wait  until next year :(

Check out Georgian Bay Trailers... I saw an ad for sled trailers including ski guides and track for $7130 taxes included. Not sure what brand.

Have you guys seen these on the District 9 Facebook Page? What do you think? More to come in the next week or so.

Big thanks to Dave and Carl... great idea. If the snowmobilers know who to thank in the community it would probably lead to a lot of acknowledgement of their generosity.

Have not used paper maps now in a bit, so have not noticed honestly either.

I knew you could zoom in on the ITG to see if it is a road, but some trails are also on roads not maintained in the winter, so unless you knew the area, one would think it was a trail along a road.

So thought that a trail on the ITG that is perhaps highlighted in Orange or something would quickly identify a road run......with the ever increasing trails that run along a road, figured it could be more valuable now than ever before.

I agree... I try to avoid road running whenever possible. Another benefit would be for those whose 12 yr old kids are restricted from road running.

I wonder if it has it ever been discussed to mark trails that run the roads with a highlight or something on the trail guide to identify as such?

Too much extra work to do so with trail changing all the time perhaps.

If you look at the legend on the paper maps there is a colour for trail on road but it's rarely used even though the trail is on the road. If you zoom in enough on the ITG you can typically see where the trail runs either on or parallel to the road.

We can't fix stupid, we all sure as hell have to pay for it.

Maybe it's time the fences were electric livestock fences... it is agricultural property after all.  They keep horses and cattle in. I ducked under one that was on pulse once. It was enough to penetrate my coat and throw me face down.

The parking lot in Coe Hill is nothing like the 1 in Bird's Creek. Space is limited. This is what I found yesterday @ noon when I got there.

Really? If I had tried to park between the Ford & Toy' I would've been door handle to door handle & likely would've found boot prints on the side of my truck. As it was 3 rigs were parked on the side of the road & I parked in front of the credit union office (not recommended during the week).

A bit of thinking would go a long ways...

I've seen similar. Typically I will leave just enough space in between to comfortably get a sled through if people are loading the trailer from where it's parked. Otherwise I'll leave enough space to pull ahead and make the turn with the trailer. Never anything like in your picture.

We regularly have fish and chips at Fins Fish and Chips in Orillia. Best we have found so far.
I am surprised with Fins opening at the Delawana with the track record of the resort opening and closing. I certainly hope they do well.
Is Henry’s still open at the marina? We have been there as well as Henry’s at Sans Souci.
I have been looking for quality fish and chips ever since my doctor told me I couldn’t have butter tarts. :drool-1:

Henry's closed at Wye Heritage and there was supposed to be something new there this summer past but I don't know if it got off the ground with the virus. Delawana got new ownership a few years ago. They are renting units out for the season and I believe all the seasonal rentals are gone already. I don't know how much of the Inn they are doing this with. If other things like campgrounds are any indication they will likely be fully booked for the summer very soon if not already

White dragon and sledjunk use to slap stickers every where too.

I used to leave Ontario Conditions stickers in a lot of places until I ran out. There's a few groomers running around with them on the cab.

I can scout out fish and chips and Blake can continue to scout out butter tarts of all descriptions!!! :drool-1: :icon_photo:

If you're looking for fish and chips options.... apparently there is a new one opening in Delawana Resort Honey Harbour this spring Fins Fish & Chips. Apparently this will be their second location with the other in Orillia I believe. Indoor and outdoor patio overlooking the water.

Yumm... butter tarts.... doing my Homer Simpson drool... they have to have raisins though

Is that also Mrs. H’s fish and chips?

No Mrs H's Fish and Chips is further down the road on the south side. To get there needs a fair bit of road rash. To get to the Long House Grill doesn't have any road rash other than going directly across the road. When available the indoor seating is much greater than Mrs. H's or Bala Falls Pub. If you watch the Barrie CTV news they advertise there.

  19. Last week while out I made a stop at the Long House Grill. It's on the north side of Muskoka Rd. 38 between the 400 and Bala. I have seen it advertised on Barrie News and promoting fish & chips. Heading north C trail comes out of the power lines and runsalong side Rd. 38 heading east for a short distance and then back into the trees. Just before you get to 38 there is a new sign and a small trail that takes you west a short distance and comes out at 38 directly across from The Long House Grill and Liquidation Nation. They have a teepee out front. They have even groomed from the shoulder of the road into their parking lot.

I had a $12 burger and fries that were quite good. It was worth the stop. I'll be going back when dine in is available to try the fish & chips. It's nice to have a new option in the area. Especially one that doesn't require road rash other than crossing the road.

that is why you hand sanitize before pumping, and again after. or, protective glove up prior, and dispose of the gloves (properly) after (then sanitize). limits your exposure, and limits your possibility of exposing others.

I have been doing this for years! Ski

This is an outdoor pump at a marina where the only ones using it are snowmobilers I believe. I don't think I've seen any out riding with rubber gloves and sanitizer so far. I use a latex glove when filling my truck

    Ya was stupid.

So we wear masks on our hands now?

No you cough and then touch what you coughed all over or sneeze or even the moisture from breathing gets on the nozzle. The new strains are much more infectious with minimal exposure necessary.
