I got a unique birthday present last Sunday in the form of 9x5mm kidney store, needless to say it put a damper on my riding plans (and everything else) this past week. Had laser surgery this am, so hope to be out by the end of the week, forecast looks awesome this week so looking to put on some serious km's to make up for the lost time in the seat. As well last Sat had a close call with with my daughter as she hit a compression bump and was thrown from the sled, luckily it was in an area with not trees, just some tall grass. She was shaken up, and this was a good wake up call as to how dangerous sledding can be, even when you are not driving crazy fast. Had some cosmetic damage to the Cat, need a new windshield and a RH side panel for a 2017 ZR6000 if anyone has anything that they are looking to sell.

    Thx

Good size stone, one of mine was pretty much the same, I was 9 x 7 - 2nd one was around 5 mm, September 25th, 2020 - a morning I will never forget.

I have never experienced pain like that in my life - not from broken ankles, wrists, elbow, jaw, ribs, separated shoulder, nothing has ever come close to that feeling - and I hope I never have to feel it again. Glad you are on the right end of it.

Glad the Cat is only cosmetic and most importantly - you're daughter was not seriously injured - things can and will change pretty quickly.

another day I will never forget is a couple of years ago - riding with my father - came across another father son - son doing CPR on his deceased father off the side of the trail - a hard reminder how dangerous sledding can be when out for a casual sunday ride.

Cousin lives in Burlington and BEFORE the storm he said the had 14" from last week's Lake effect dumping.

Last night we added 5" to the depth on the snow stic, so we're up to 22" now.

Yup, we got pummelled un-expectedly friday - then all day saturday too.

Thursday night - I finished flooding my rink at 11:30 - she was perfect - calling for a 30% chance of a dusting - woke up to 10" of fresh snow by 7:00 a.m. - snowed all day - continued into saturday and stopped in the evening.

I am out of places to put snow from my rink right now.

    Enjoy riding folks.

More  information you can either use or ignore....lol :coffeenose:

I just called the North Bay Health Unit.  Spoke to a person that answered phone and asked why Nordic Ski Club allowed to be open?  She transferred me to COVID call line.  That lady didn't have an answer - however - I spoke with her for quite some time.  The bottom line is.....apparently they take ALL complaints and put them on a "spreadsheet" which is where my complaint apparently is going.  This "spreadsheet" is reviewed on a regular basis.  So....I asked how many complaints are on the "spreadsheet" related to the snowmobile trails? - which she would not disclose (my bet is not as many as there are complaining they aren't open.....but I digress),  so....if enough people actually call in to complain that the Nordic Ski Club should be considered part of "Outdoor Recreation" and not allowed - then that complaint will be registered on the "spreadsheet"!  I am thinking it highly coincidental that "allegedly" said Health Director is a member of the Nordic Ski Club...and that club is a Membership Club.  I called the Nordic Ski Club again to confirm this.  Apparently the club is open to the public...BUT....MEMBERS ONLY during the lockdown!  Wow...must be nice to have only members using these groomed trails using Crown Land!  Wow!  The Hypocrisy is getting better'er and better'er!

I urge everyone to take a few minutes today or tomorrow to flood the Spreadsheet!  If we can't sled...why should they be allowed to ski!???  Huffing and Puffing down those trails - "moistly" talking and gathering on the trails without the benefit of full PPE.

North Bay Health Unit - 705-474-1400 or 1-800-563-2808  Dial 0 to speak to main switchboard - and ask for COVID Call Center.  Let's make our own  "spreadsheet"  with OC members complaining.  :soapbox:

I would be calling this lawyer asap.

He managed to win and get the gym open.

    Show the hyprocsy.

Also, as a trail permit purchaser - you are part of a "CLUB" - a private club - frig this guy and ride your trails.

    See him in court.

I realize it is not the province responsible for this act of stupidity, but this moron is paid by the Ontario taxpayers. He was hired by the province so therefore could be fired by the province. Being the only medical officer in Ontario implementing this on sledders he definitely qualifies for acceptance in the OABD club.

Hence my comment about opening up, riding, and going against this stupid order. He may have the power to implement it, but there has to be sound reason and justification - none of which exists outside of his own twisted vision.

It might be time his bs be taken in front of a judge, I think clubs should keep grooming, people should keep riding and let the ticket writing happen with every single one of them go into the already back logged courts for dispute.

It's over the top and people should not be listening and obeying like dogs looking for some sort of a treat.

I'm surprised any of BRP's braintrust is old enough to remember this era of doo's graphics when they did the 2019 Blizzard.

Look at the tall handlebars - it's as if they could forecast stand up riding style - off trail......:)

  7. I honestly can't believe with all that is going on and the winter we've had to date that anyone is spending money on sledding, but on the plus side, I think it's great and think it speaks volumes about the dedicated core of riders still out there.

Having worked in the industry for over a decade I can tell you that the CBC is the VERY BEST news organization in the world after the BBC. You people and your phuckued conspiracy theories. And to quote Rebel News??.....:crazy_grn: Just keep blowing it out your asses boys if it keeps you going.

They all suck, that's the reality, and each one of them are one sided one persons opinion - you just need to pick your side and that's it.

I was going to say the same thing. The driver has to be creative. When I got my sled hauled to Chapleau from Wawa, he said that my truck had started to leak trans fluid in D'ville & he had brought it to the dealer in Wawa.

It may have changed since the last time I used it - but it was simple for us - vehicle is vehicle - our membership was not specific for that other than had to be a vehicle that I owned and I had to be with it - was seriously no issue at all.

Do you not think a story about the fact they hid the virus from us, denied military testing to confirm what the soldiers had, and covered it up to protect China is a story worth knowing. It is another prime example as to the utter failure, the lies, and the corruption we see in this government on a daily basis. That being said, then to have the federal agents appear at your door for publishing a leaked document, when they knew perfectly well the reporter had broken no laws was done so as a friendly visit when it was clearly an intimidation tactic from the highest levels of government was sickening to see. These are not regular police, these are federal enforcement officers. The government can ruin a life in the blink of an eye, even if the accusations have no basis in fact. They could arrive at your door, take you into custody, hold you, charge you, have you secure counsel, then fight in court only to have the charges stayed after costing you everything you own. Ya, no reason to be concerned when officer friendly comes knocking and was sent by the Prime Minister.

    I'm with you on this.

Interesting.  We were stranded in Capreol one time and CAA refused to help.  Said he wouldn't "play that game."

2004 - towed from Whitney back to Huntsville, valentines day.

Requested flat bed for the sled , zero issue and it was all good.

Interesting concept -  as having some familiarity with driving NWT ice roads the faster you went, the better chance you set up a standing wave on the ice which eventually led to collapse and immersion. These would be cars and trucks of course. If ice was marginal it would seem to make sense that a sled might not have the weight to create an ice wave, but static, might break through. It has been my observation that it is usually the second sled going into the water following the first - I could be corrected on that though.

Yes, I am familiar with the wave scenario, but in my 30 + years of sledding - I have never once seen or heard of that happening with a sled.

I don't know about you guys, but when I am on the lake, the fun flipper is down, I would be shocked to ever have ice break beneath me unless it's where I am getting on and off.

I also never follow directly behind anyone either, even if it's a track width outside, I like to carve my own trail so to speak.

Just drove that stretch in the truck and does not look good sled wise, will be taking the lake crossing later this aft for sure.

The lake still has not been staked but is well beat down with sled tracks, as for the thickness of the ice ???????????????

Well, you have to be going pretty slow for it to break under you - might not be great behind you - but for it to break under you - you're simply going WAY too slow......that's always been the way I have looked at it.
