  1. BRP announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a company that specializes in e-drive systems and transmissions, reinforcing its know-how in electric vehicles technology.

    Here’s the scoop from Valcourt:

BRP announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Great Wall Motor Austria GmbH, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motor based in Baoding, China. This leading EV R&D center based in Kottingbrunn, Austria, specializes in e-drive systems and transmissions and currently employs highly skilled individuals who will receive ongoing employment as part of this agreement.

“We look forward to welcoming the 53 very qualified and experienced engineers, technicians and professionals as we continue reinforcing our EV expertise required to deploy our ambitious strategy. This acquisition will further strengthen our know-how in e-motor, inverter hardware and software development,” said Thomas Uhr, chief technology officer at BRP.

Round-abouts are great when people know how to use them.

The last time I was in Ireland I don't think I saw a stop sign lol

I agree. The truck usually requires both lanes. Many people become confused, even though I have my four ways on and take half the left ane, many still speed up beside me. They realize it was a bad move in a hurry. Happens all the time.

I remember all the hoopla about the 2012 Procross tunnels, the tapered ones, I even bought the replacement - 10 years later it's still sitting in the box with zero issues to date on the tapered one. Granted, it must have been enough of an issue to force the re-design, but I haven't experienced it at all.

    Lucky I guess

It was redesigned due to ice build up, not structural integrity.

  4. Blew my engine. Sourced one used and took it to Wayne Dillaboughs cat dealer. Great guy. He found a couple of issues one he pulled the old one which drove labour up. Took pictures of everything to keep me in the loop and did 7 hours of labor which he did not bill me for. Small family business he turns wrenches as well. Great dealer.

I used to wear my earphones regularly, but I found a full day - with the balaclava tight against my head, my ears would get sore.

I am sure there was way better systems and ways to do it, but I was just too lazy to figure it out.

I also drive like a wild man with tunes - so probably a good thing I don't ride with them now.

The domio is designed with nothing inside the helmet. It has great reviews and is 25% off right now.

I was up there last weekend, albeit a bit closer to Georgian Bay, and I wasn't impressed. Although the trails show green, they were really yellow with lots of rocks pocking through. Just not enough snow starting in Muskoka all the way to suds. An hour or so north of suds and they have 5' of snow on the ground. Seems like southern Ont. got all the snow that this area gets this year.

Groomers are doing their very best but...

We ran into the same around espanola last week.  Simply not enough coverage for the groomers to work. They certainly were trying their best with what they had. Mother nature is a b.

  8. Had a great time up at agnew lake lodge. New owners are awesome. Spent time with friends from massey and webbwood. Did some ice fishing on a few back lakes. Caught a splake. Rode some trails and had dinner with our friends each night as they kept their sleds there for the week. A couple of days before our departure the f1100 puked out all the oil. The old cat with 65000 kms on it ran great, go figure. Cassandra had to head back to work so she gave us her vector to use. Great time.

Watched the Save unit working the Hali area last season double bang non permitted sleds, fail to display evidence of permit and trespassing, I think it came to north of $400 bones with the victim surcharge. They were also zero tolerance with cans, val tag and insurance, so a few were really banged hard.  Was told they have added MSVA offences to the easy access data base, get a second hit with a can or any of the other offences, its a summons to court for them to explain to a judge why they felt it was ok to reoffend.

Good news. Let's hope they keep it up.

    Thanks for the updates, TD.

Guessing warm up shacks ( in lieu of warm, lunch dining ) will be important this year.

Yup. Plan your route so that lunch can happen in a warm up shack. Be creative, plan ahead and no doubt your lunch can be better than take out.

This is good to hear that it is in fact being pushed at the OFSC level.

Agree about the percentages as well & many people would rather see the resources fighting far worse things vs. us lowly sledders :) - but this is the agreement that was made, so I wonder what that two way discussion looks like & the rational for not using harsher fines.

Even if the enforcement/presence is not increased, what is the rational of not making the fines for those caught breaking the rules A LOT more harsh - that can be used a much better tool to deter people from doing it.

Did the MTO not just adopt the rules & fines set by the OFSC beforehand, if so, I would think changing/updating them now could be possible with the pressure coming from the OFSC based on submitting reasons that justify the change?

Like anything else, change needs to start from within no doubt.....more that buy in, will make an impact.

But the fine or penalty needs to match the infraction - right now it does not.

No doubt we need a separate offence written into law. That being trespass on ofsc trail. 500 minimum fine would be good. Then we need stop back to be out there handing out tickets. There is no excuse not to buy a pass.

I've been reading wayy to many reports like this, this season.  Trying to analyze why I believe its a combination of things. In the long run, the sport needs a full re-set. This means extensive trail closures for a season or 2 to help educate and get rid of the A$$ Hats.

    • COVID-No one traveling to their winter destinations has made for record power sports sales. Remember March 2021 snowcheck was so successful there wasn't anything left for the dealer's inventory?  I wonder what the % of these sales were new to snowmobiling? Likely a very high %
    • No snow - after dropping $20k and having no where to use it would leave to frustration.  On FB there are countless posts on area xx trail conditions. Why? Do they not know that you need to have a trail pass and be able to read the ,OFSC map?
    • Entitled generation - with the age group of the entitled generation now at a point where they are old enough and have the $$ to buy a sled, I imagine that 90% of the problems are from 10% of the riders.
    • Long tracks - i was in PQ between christmas and new years and OMG, the amount of young people on new machines was astounding. Lots of 144s all the way to full out mountain sleds. This just encourages off trail use and the Sled manufactures market towards it.

The way parents throw money at there kids these days, we wonder why they all feel entitled.  They don't have to work for anything, just go and have fun on daddy's dime. If all the trails close, they'll just sell their sleds and find something else to do.  They really do not give a F***. They have never experienced a single consequence in their entire life.

Unfortunately this is our world now, no one cares about anyone else or anyone else's property.  And its going to get worse before it gets better.

Pretty jaded view of our youth. Both my daughter and her bf have goals and work very hard towards those goals. They also have respect for private property.  Not all kids are rotten, as a matter of fact, most are pretty good. The bad ones get all the attention.

I have had with this sport after yesterday and today has finished me. Just so you guys know I have been invested  in this sport 29 years .grooming , club landowner rep, groomer coordinator, s.c s.a v.p. district v.p ,driver trainer and trail patrol.

But after working 60 hr  in four days ,I gave up 8 hours of my first day off to help train a new groomer operator and get trail prepared for opening. I was able to stop 12 sleds and informed them they were trespassing on closed trail all but four continued on and the four that turned around argued that the trail was open till we accessed the I.t.g.

If that was not bad enough today our groomer is out trying to open the top e102 that has run through my family's 100 acre property  for three generations.  While out on my own property for a walk I stopped several snowmobilers and informed them that they were riding closed trail and trespassing and are risking trails being closed.

But when I am TOLD TO F### OFF and GET THE F### off the trail  we will do what we want !!!

Iam at the point that I have waisted 30 years and at this point I am seriously considering closing down my property and selling my sleds.

Oh and don't say call the cops the local department does nothing and does not care just like the o.f.s.c.

I feel bad for you in that your years of dedication and help to the sport have now culminated in a feeling of wasted time. However you have to know, thousands upon thousands of us really do appreciate it. Sadly what was the few has now become the many.
