Were heading to Gaspe in the beginning of March for the first time. We plan on doing around 6 days of riding there and giving a break to the Ontario northern corridor this time around ..

6 days should be great for your first trip around. Enjoy!

    Thanks PLC!

Can you or perhaps others comment on the policy now a days on a now show at a lodge/hotel?

It seems since Covid many places are charging for no show where they never used to since they understood things can and will happen on saddle bag trips, but that seems to no longer matter - you are not the first to talk about the good possibility of a storm rolling in and causing unplanned delays.

I can't speak to anything since Covid as we haven't been able to do a saddlebag trip since. I can only remember one time in over 30 years of saddlebag trips prior to Covid where we had to pay  $100.00 for each of 2 rooms when we couldn't make the destination due to a breakdown.

As for the storm issue we were fortunate to never loose a day in Gaspe however we have had to adjust destinations due to heavy snow a couple of times.

    Gaspe - maybe this year!!!

On the list but not experienced yet.

After 6 times in Gaspe there are a couple of things we have learned. One is to take your time east of Matane on the north shore and in the middle area north and south of Murdockvile and west of Murdockville as well as the areas south and west of Amiqui. To me these are the most scenic areas.

The second thing is that a stormy day or 3 in Gaspe can change your plans dramatically. Be prepared to alter the plan and or have an extra day available so you don't miss any of the scenic areas. Let me know if you have any questions when you are doing your itinerary.

I disagree, but would say that Quebec generally has better weather for their trails.

If we had the weather they did - I would see very little reason to go there vs. the varying terrain Ontario has to offer.

I would disagree with your varying terrain comment. I've ridden in 5 states and Quebec as well as our province. I have never seen anything close to the varied terrains in Quebec from Abitibi to Saguenay and especially Gaspe. If you haven't been there you should make the effort. It's worth the ride.  Forgot to mention the accomodations and food. Quebec wins there as well. JMHO

I think your right. Our corn is over 9 feet tall this yesr and very full. Hopefully we can harvest it all before snow flies. It’s going to take some time to get thru it all.
We have two grain carts this yesr and brand new combine. 🙏

Some of the corn at our place is heading toward 10' tall. It was the same last year and we had a shitty 3 days of open trail winter so I don't think I will use that parameter for predictions.

Going to suck for sledding. Not going to want to fill up at places that don’t move allot of fuel.

Have you got a chart website available that will show us where those places that don't move a lot of fuel are?

  7. I'm not a fan of the ethanol gas BUT there is no doubt in my mind that more than normal climate change is real and that the world's people are responsible for that additional change. I believe that unless we can get the major polluting nations of the world (like China for example) on board not much will change enough to make the world a healthy place for my grandchildren and their children to live out their lives. The ethanol movement is a small part but hopefully all the small parts together will make an appreciable difference. The issues with ethanol are really nothing in the big picture.  JMHO

So really 3% less fuel economy.

The energy content of ethanol is about 33% less than pure gasoline. The impact of fuel ethanol on vehicle fuel economy varies depending on the amount of denaturant that is added to the ethanol. The energy content of denaturant is about equal to the energy content of pure gasoline. In general, vehicle fuel economy may decrease by about 3% when using E10 relative to gasoline that does not contain fuel ethanol.

So on a 20 MPG vehicle you would loose 0.6 MPG.

how? 30% less fuel economy with e10, costs more to produce, not to mention the water required for corn growth, and then even more for the ethanol production. when you look at carbon output, again, you would use 30% more fuel, to produce the same mileage as non E fuels.

tell me how, it is better for the environment. raping the land for "fuel corn", pulling food for livestock, textile, and other cash crop items, from previously cash cropped fields... over and over while using harsh chemicals, and synthetic fertilizers, and GMO plants to get more production for what? an additive that messes up most fuel systems in ICE systems. yes... tell me more, how this is better for the environment.  Ski

Pretty sure that in Ontario at least, ethanol corn is a cash crop. I would also think that the corn sold for ethanol helps to keep the remaining corn market prices somewhat higher since there is less volume of corn available for other purposes. Those higher prices would then benefit farmers growing and selling corn.

Riddle me this then, town I live in still sellin Shell 91 e- free and one  Petro Can outlet in Huntsville advertise their premium as e free as well, m

    marina's with fuel likely similar

I just noticed that the Shell pumps at a station in Goderich still have the old stickers on them stating 91 is Efree. I think they have never bothered to change the stickers. Stoney has a post on page one of this thread which states that he emailed Shell and they replied that all grades have ethanol now.

    Too bad Yamaha done

. I remember sponge Bob sinking his skidoo in channel beteeen joe and ros and someone on an Yamaha apex comes plowing thru water as he swims towards shore. Was a near miss that day and yes wontonne made it back onto solid ice 🤣. Good old days.

The Yammie probably sank shortly after. They don't do water skipping well at all. Need an old Indy to have a great skipper.

If I am spending 250K or higher, I need something that looks more exotic than a Charger.

Pretty sure its being built on the Challenger platform so I'm sure that will make you feel better about them LOL. Good news is that they are apparently being assembled in Brampton. Like Stoney mentioned above, I read just after the initial pictures came out that Corporate was not going to let dealers away with jacking list prices on them.   Cool options like delete trunk interior trim and delete rear and passenger seat. Come standard on slicks.    0-60 MPH in 1.6 seconds. NHRA has apparently outlawed them from running in stock classes LOL.

E too in it now.  Not sure how much premium Costco sells. Mostly bikes buy it and never see them there.

If Costco weren't selling a good volume of premium you can bet they wouldn't offer it.

All gasoline fuels sold in Ontario have ethonal now. Tested shell station near me has e in 91 now 🤣
Time to buy  rec fuel in cans for storage. Already started with my small power equipment.

Why waste your money?? I just rebuilt a golf cart carburator which has been on the cart at least the 8 years that I have had it. I only use regular fuel in it and only about 20 litres a year but I add some Sea Foam when I fuel it and I put Stabil in it for the off season. I run it with stabilized fuel for at least 20 minutes before storing it for the winter. The carb bowl was completely clean with no sign of varnish or and other foreign matter.

Yep, Ski Doo and Polaris have lots too!

No doubt about that.  I was playing on the fact that did have a Firecat model for a few years back in the 2005 timeframe. I think it was an F7.

  16. The Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings(GVWR) shown on the Manufacturers sticker reflects the lowest weight rating of either the chassis, suspension, wheels or tires.

You can have a 3500 lb. rated axle, suspension and chassis but if the total capacity of either the 2 tires or wheels do not add up to 3500 lb. then the GVWR rating on the sticker reflect whatever that lower capacity is. Changing after manufacture to heavier rated tires and/or wheels will not legally change the rating that the sticker shows.

Its around that much.    I never got mine back last year.    Called 2-3x and they said that it was claimed but I never got the cheque.

Did you ask if they could check to see if payment was issued?  "Claimed"  to me at least, means your request for refund was made but not that it was processed or paid.  The last time we claimed the refund (pre Covid) I thought the refund was $46 and change.

Shouldn’t go up too much. Died diesel is way down about 1.05 Litre on my last fill.  Road diesel approx 50 cents more now. I seen some pictures of Cochrane groomer filling up with road diesel. Not sure if that’s a common practise but ofsc could save 1/3 off it’s fuel bill by using coloured diesel.

Pretty certain all Ontario groomers use only coloured fuel when available. I know ours have used coloured fuel since it was first made available.

Groomers don't use fuel in the summer so current prices mean didely squat.
