Posted today on their Facebook page! Great news!
We are pleased to report we will be OPEN and welcoming snowmobilers for full services this coming winter. However, we have many ongoing operational issues that need solutions to remain open permanently. We are fervently pursuing every possible source of assistance and support. To those who have worked hard to make this happen, we are humbled and deeply indebted. We will continue doing our part to keep the TOP D Trail open so that our family can reap its rewards. Please share and stay tuned...

Just get off TOP A. Lots of tourists just run back & forth on it to put on the miles to & from Hearst & Cochrane. Last winter I led @irREVerent SJ & the rest across the top of L125. Even pushing snow for 6 miles @ 50+ was fun. I guess it has to replace the old stretch of TOP A south of Strickland. Those long time NCDN riders will know where I mean...
One of my favourite trails actually!! We try to get off A whenever we can. Less traffic and absolutely beautiful

I totally agree and understand 100% where you are coming from and what you are saying. When those businesses close, they know who they can thank for that. For me, I'm caught in my own head with it - and I know I'm alone here - and I am okay with that, but part of me says "support the local businesses" - the other part of me says supporting anything in that PHU allows this one idiot to continue forward - it just doesn't cut it for me - the only thing I can do is speak with my wallet - he lives there - he did this - he made the decision, and as long as he holds that position, then I'm out.
He lives in North Bay.....I am from Kearney...that is 1 hour away....I am all for supporting the small towns that got caught in the cross-fire.....if we could divorce ourselves from North Bay and only be Parry Sound I would be OK with that!

i agree with both of you. its up to the individual to speak up as well. So unless someone's pocket book isnt hurt they will never learn. that being said i will try and put any money i can into the economy
What we really should be asking is why we give power to unelected officials and these massive health regions really serve no purpose in this juncture
Well. From where I sit and all the posts and news reports I have read....the individuals as well as small business most certainly spoke loud and clear that they didn’t want the closure. No way local business should be boycotted because of a decision they had no control over and were at the mercy of Dr Cheerios! They need all the support they can get. Some of them will never recover and will close permanently. Resorts/hotels/motels and restaurants in particular. (Which atm are mostly impacted anyway as this region is still in lockdown). I am sure everyone would hate to see places they regularly rely on for food and accommodation when sledding no longer around. So when it is open again to travel to they should whole heartedly be supported.

Glad to hear for the locals - should have never been closed in the first place.
For anyone else travelling to the area - make sure you stock up on everything you need to ensure you don't spend a single cent in the area.
Cheers
Are you suggesting that you penalize the local businesses that are struggling to survive over a closure that they disagreed with and had no control over?

Giddy up, I hear your point, but I live in simcoe county, I am planning a day ride in Parry Sound district, I have a cottage - year round, I am planning on riding up cleaning the driveway and the roof then riding back to my truck. I also bought my passes from the district, and pay taxes in that district. My original worry was that the district was still in the stay at home order, however I need to ensure the cottage is o.k.
Absolutely! I agree that you should be able to do that. If you own a cottage I believe that you have every right to go and enjoy it, and especially check on it to make sure everything is ok. I am really referring to folks that trailer up and ride then leave. I think we need to respect the fact that this region is still in "lockdown mode" at least until March 8th, and they are only opening the trails to "local residents" - not a "free for all" opening. It is what we fought for, and finally got it as we felt it never should have been closed in the first place when all other regions were open for these outdoor activities. If it was up to me I would say Giddy UP for everyone. I am in the same boat. My "Primary" residence is in Kearney - however, my 92 year old Mother is in LTC in Midland and I am a Primary Caregiver, so we also have a home in Victoria Harbour as well. When we go to Victoria Harbour - we stay at least 2 weeks or more and vice-versa....so we definitely isolate when in either of those two places. It is the travelling back and forth and back and forth that they don't want for day riders that could get things shut down again. There are so many other spots that are OPEN and not still in lockdown that those folks should consider first is all I am saying. Hopefully we will move out of the lockdown status by March 8th and it may not be an issue any longer. Everyone is getting COVID madness and COVID weary. I know I am!

Another death n NB today from COVID. He will be looking for any excuse to close them up again. If you are local...great...ride those trails and Giddy up!!.....if you are coming from another area into this lockdown zone, I would suggest you find another zone to ride if you can. All he needs to see is a bunch of non local sledders rushing in and BOOM..there we will go again! At least there is lots of snow now further south, so that helps...keeping our fingers crossed that people use their heads here ...please. I have read on all sorts of pages people planning on rushing in to “rip” on the trails up here. He has opened them up for “local” use. The lockdown is still in force.

Just announced extended now until March 8th!!! This makes NO SENSE!! York can open and all regions surrounding NBPS is Opening. All this does is push people to other regions instead of staying local.

It is for your mental health. We all kid about it but it is so true. Some of us don't have other outlets to destress and take care of ourselves. Make sure to take care of yourself and enjoy a ride. It clears the mind and helps you face another week.
Giddy Up! I plan to!

It looks like that letter could have been sent to Minister of Sport and Tourism. Mt Packenham ski resort got an exemption to open from them. The MOH for Leeds et all didn`t even know about it. They are in a grey lockdown area.
Update - I was just informed that there already HAS BEEN a letter sent to Lisa MacLeod who is the Minister responsible for this on January 30th.....no reply!

Ok, rightfully so then. Tresspassing on trail with a vehicle, charge. Traveling with someone out of your house, charge. And then firearm charge. Good on them. Travel by yourself or with people from your own household, your good to go.

Cancelled our family annual Family day- week trip in the subject region. The lodge and cabin owner was literally in tears over the situation as he is garnering no income at all this season.
Hopefully he makes it through this and we can make it up to him big time next year. (4-5 cabins for the week normally)
Fortunately we are able to ride from home and make the best of the week.
Can you share the name of the place you were going so that others might be able to support them in the future?

A new letter has now been sent to Hon. Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development. NO REPLIES have been received from any of our previous correspondence unfortunately. This letter was also sent to Premier Doug Ford, North Bay Nipissing News, CTV & Global as well.

I would be calling this lawyer asap.
He managed to win and get the gym open.
Show the hyprocsy.
Also, as a trail permit purchaser - you are part of a "CLUB" - a private club - frig this guy and ride your trails.
See him in court.
I have passed this information along to a couple of the Clubs involved in hopes that they can at least get an opinion from them. Thanks for this great information! Fingers crossed
