Val Dor - Ville Marie limited snow

Dropped in Temiscaming and headed to Val Dor on Friday. Snow was very thin in fact the sleds temps were starting to climb. Woke to -27 on Saturday morning and started to head to Ville Marie via Rouyn Noranda, again the sleds temps were climbing due to the hard packed ice on the trails. While the trails are terrific there is no snow so my advice if you are going this way is to install a set of ice scratchers as this will help the cooler get the lube it needs. Traffic is way down and we seen maybe 20 sleds in three days. Hotels are wide open as well.

Just got back from Cochrane last thurs, fri and the snow there is hard as rock. Clubs are having a tough time to keep up with traffic and get the trails back in shape after the thaw.

Ran with the scratchers down both days.

At least where you went was lightly travelled so trails were flat. I was in that area back in January. Fantastic trails!
