    LOL.

    I don't  ride bitch either,

I tried to order local...never answered the phone and the online ordering is a joke.

    Ordered from Lyn Hoy.

I can ride the brothers spare sled as a last resort...but it's a Yamahacat and I'm straight, possibly a lesbian.

    Will that matter?

Same. Lynn Hoy and the other. 😂

    Hope not.

JMO but he should look at moving to the now defunct gym.

I heard the gym was done...right beside our trail too 🤔

Is your new sled ordered through him? I heard a few last year that ordered there and never got sleds. Don’t worry, you can ride double behind me 😂 This girl does not ride b!tch.

Our first dealer ended their relationship with Polaris over forced units.

Long story short - dealer put his order in - Polaris said - nope - you're taking this many units - and these specific units on top of your order - dealer said nope - I'll take my order or nothing - nothing it was - end of relationship :)

I believe to be BRP these days - you have to have so many sq/ft - and highway side visual.

I fear this is what’s happening/happened to our only dealer (any brand) for hours. I’ve heard rumors that they (Colborne Skidoo) aren’t an official BRP dealership anymore, for real this time, but that’s also been rumored for years. We bought new from him 2 years ago but last year had to go to Lynn Hoy for the new sled. Lynn Hoy was awesome to deal with, so may be worth the drive anyway.

This weekend will mark the 50th anniversary my parents and their friends took the trek from Owen Sound to Tobermory.
The story made it to newspaper and this picture was taken in Tobermory when they got there.
I cannot imagine riding on a 1971 skidoo 440 with two adults that far

no trails back them just used cottage roads and hydro line. One of the group worked for Ontario hydro and know where to get gas and oil for the trek up and back. A hotel owner opened up some rooms for them as it would normally be closed for the season

I remember seeing this locally, some of them were people I know...which ones are your parents?

  6. This all being said....aren't the fees determined by a formula that the Clubs all vote to approve each year at the AGM? Something like if permit sales are up a certain percentage then the fee goes up? I don't recall but there was a table of 4 options. I'm just saying that the fee has already been decided based on that vote and permit sales last season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, it's happened before. 😊

Most of that info is easily attainable from your local club or district.

It is informative as to how the state of organized sledding is, where the money is spent.

Costs have gone way up on everything.

People have money for snowmobiling. Just look at the used market.

I'll not bat an eye if permit prices go up 10 or 20 percent.

At some point I'll have to cut a check for $22,000 for the coming sled.

Called my insurance (co-op), gonna be just shy of $800 a year.

    Premium gas is at $1.50/L

The permit is the least of the expense, and the permit means we have somewhere to ride.

Imagine owning a boat and the lakes dried up.

Less than %1 of next years sledding will be the permit cost.

Many of us involved, as club members, living in the snow belt, don't even consider (or want to look at) what we take as a time or financial hit, so we all can ride.

The groomer replacement initiative IMO is doing very well, and that's in the millions of dollars a year, solely from permit money.

Newer machines simply perform better. Much better. Trails that used to be a shift and take 14 hours to groom, now take 8, allowing operators to carry on and do more trail.

My grooming area has had 3 different machines in the last few years. We made do with what we had.

2 years ago we acquired a '15 Prinoth with a mogul master drag.

Having driven the older, lower horsepower, farm tractors with a track kit and one way blade, these Prinoths are spectacular.

Did trail repairs, easily, that simply would not be possible with the older equipment.

The district constantly reviews open trails, snow conditions, usage.

It justified us getting a newer, better machine...and we've used it to it's fullest...for the most part lol.

Better management of the new machine went a long way as well.

A half dozen or so operators put 600 hrs on it this year, in what was about a 6 week season.

No down time for repairs. Maintenance only.

I can't exactly tell you who that management was...but it rhymes with crispy....

This forum is pretty knowledgeable and reasonable.

People who bitch about the OFSC should get involved, and see exactly how the sausage gets made.

The permit could go to $500 and I'd still buy it.

You and I and many other volunteers put far more into the system in volunteer hours vs a permit fee. I'd still pay double the price to have 1/2 the idiots on the trail.

There is a dude (I assume dude) on here named Crispy! I'll take some of the credit, I think we all know that I'm not shy. I volunteer in various roles because I love the sport but it never hurts to hear appreciation, thank you. You and I make a great team, I was amazed by what you were able to do this year...the rock & straw bridge was genius, I lost so much sleep the night before you fixed that problem area up. The landowner and I had a culvert put in for this coming season, sorry to ruin your fun.

I totally agree, it's the cheapest part of sledding!

Ya landowner gifts have been an interesting topic. There was talk along time ago that maybe the landowners could get a tax credit from the province   not sure if they were thinking on the income tax side or property tax side  since that is the municipality.  It never happened. But my point sorta is that would it be possible that every land owner in the province gets the same gift ?  Like those gloves.  I know every club has different ideas and they probably work for them but I do hope that every landowner is visited every year and something can be given to them

I know a lot of our neighbouring clubs don’t give them anything. Maybe once every few years but nothing consistently.

  10. This is what we did this year. The local Home Hardware added $10 each on top of what we paid which is awesome.

What did your club do? Any creative ideas? Anything landowners loved in the past?

Great idea. Showing that real people own these properties, not some faceless corporation. Hopefully, this can lead to more respect.

I'm on Facebook daily and never seen it though. They need to reach more sledders.

They are being put out on the District 9 facebook page and website and seem to be shared pretty widely. The first one is around 19,000 impressions on facebook. Not sure why you aren't seeing them.

Don't shoot me for the question... there may be some drawbacks but would it be reasonable to provide some sort of contact information where snowmobilers could individually reach out to these generous people and actually express their appreciation.

I think more and more landowners are following the club and district facebook pages so they would see it if they were posted. Of course this also means that they see all the trespassing and complaining posts. I do share those at my club level but try and keep it mostly good news.

In small towns it'll spread enough that a few people will mention it to them in person I hope too.

Big thanks to Dave and Carl... great idea. If the snowmobilers know who to thank in the community it would probably lead to a lot of acknowledgement of their generosity.

Our Club did Club hats with “landowner” embroidered on the back, we have a few that wear them around town proudly.

We”d be friged without your leadership

Ok, I've been back and forth on this decision so I'm looking for opinions from you guys, and gals.

A new sled to replace the wife's Vector that I just sold.

Things it needs to have. Low steering effort, heated seat, added traction, good wind protection, 4 stroke, ability to run 60 mph.

With this list and what's available out there, I'm basically looking at Ski-doo and likely the 900NA. The 130 turbo is interesting but I don't think she needs it. I would be buying more for when my buddy borrows it.

This motor is in the Grand Touring and Renegade line. A 129 would have been fine too but not available. The Grand Touring Sport comes with the Silent Drive track which I'm told cannot be studded due to the drivers. I'm not interested in the Limited version so both these are out.

This leaves the Enduro and Adrenaline Trim packages in the Renegade. If I add the heated seat and taller windshield to the Adrenaline I'm still $2000 cheaper than the Enduro. With the Enduro I'd get an Ice Ripper, fancy gauge and Air Ride suspension in the rear. I prefer to stud this sled for her rather than the Ice Ripper as she has always had studs on the sleds she's ridden. I think she counts on them more than she realizes so best not to screw with what she is used to.

The fancy gauge is of no interest. As long as she has a fuel gauge and a clock, she will be happy.

This leaves the Air Ride. I see her setting it full soft and never touching it.

So my question is, Is it worth paying the extra for the Air Ride?

I know the Adrenaline was always considered a soft ride. Is that still the case? Are the front shocks rebuild-able? The rears?

Any sled you think I'm missing out on? Viper is the only one I see and she doesn't care for my Cat so I think its out.

    Thanks for all opinions.

I haven’t read through this whole thread so maybe this has been said.

    1. I thought at first you were looking for a sled wife lol

    2. Does it have to be 4 stroke? I’d vote 600etec. I went from an RX-1 to a 2011 GSX (different sled again now though) and I was suddenly able to zip through forest trails and if I did needed to I could lift the back end.

Went from mt.forest up through Neustadt and over to Chesley then to Chatsworth and down to Markdale for lunch. The trail from Chesley to Chatsworth was great. Think it was the R500 or something. I don’t lead I just follow or we would get lost pretty quickly.lol. Not a bad day but the road running is pretty bad and with next weeks forecast I think you are right.

That Chesley to Chatsworth section is part of my favourite loop. Love the wide bush roads and the rolling hills!

They may be trying to save a decent frozen snow base.

If the base gets torn up by sleds and exposes the ground to the sun, it's game over, even if it snows at this time of year. Especially on winter wheat.

That's a hard stop for us. We can not afford to destroy land owners crops and wreck that relationship.

It's warm and sunny where I am.

Our groomer went out and did 18 hours straight, yesterday/today. The temperatures dictated the best time to go.

Two operators, two different grooming areas as our next door club's groomer has been down for over a week.

We've been sharing one groomer, and it's been used to the max for this past week by both groomer coordinators. think it's been out over 100 hrs in 7 days.

One club takes it out for a run, comes back here for fuel, maybe a short stop, and back out it goes.

This is only possible thanks to the volunteers, and that we both have almost identical Prinoth Huskys and mogul master drags. No one needed to be brought up to speed on the setup.

We've even been doing each others trails when an operator had extra time and it made sense. Been doing that all year.

My club's president and groomer coordinator is a champ. Brought all of the operators on a group text chain. A first for us. It works way better than phone calls.

We all know the status of the machine, where it's at, what it's doing, who is in it next and what we can/should be doing so someone can step up.

    She is a rock star.

The old boy's club is now the young woman's club and we are much better for it.

Vooodooo! You just made my week!
Also, I’m going to start calling you VoooDooo in real life.
