This may be a good cause of the trail closures......

I saw that too, definitely didn’t help the situation, and probably more of a reason to close trails then reports of alleged southerners riding trails.  The NBPS health unit is going above and beyond with the trail closures as well as previously closing all the outdoor rinks and toboggan hills.

My condolences to the families of the 4 victims. While I feel sad that these deaths continue to happen, I cannot comprehend riding on Georgian Bay given the mild weather this season.

My condolences to the families as well but completely agree with you PLC, there is no ice to even ride on.

The rubber shield takes about 2 minutes to re-install best bet is to play with it in the house and see how it attaches. I never take the rubber insert/breath box out on mine.

I agree with Nunz, I spent some time at home getting the breath box set up correctly, to the point that it’s sits tight enough to prevent fogging but not to tight that it’s uncomfortable.  I never rode without it and I think that the shield would have to be plugged in the majority of time riding without it.  I would pull the breath box out after my rides to give it a cleaning as a lot of moisture collects inside of it.  Very simple to remove/install.

can you wear glasses in them?

I don’t wear glasses so I can’t answer that... but there is a groove/cut out in the foam of the helmet for glasses.

  6. CKX Mission for me, great helmet!!  Have the electric shield but did not use it once in over 3k km’s of riding last year in all temps.    The recall is for the small release strap on the chin strap, original one may stick to the Velcro of the chin curtain, replacement one is rubber.  Had a replacement sent to me in October.  CKX or Kimpex customer service was very good to deal with.

Awesome!!!  My neighbour up there and wife’s friend in Woodland beach sent pics today.... can’t believe how much snow there is.  We’ll be up there in a few days and praying for NO rain!!  Cheers.... looking forward to a ride with you (social distanced of course) this season!!!

  8. Great site, lots of cameras across the province, and road condition info.  I use it often, and it’s available in the App Store also, just downloaded it..... thanks for the heads up Andreyboater!

Just chatted with Curtis, Brian and Kathys son at the Westway.  They said yes to red zone visitors.  Please use your common sense and stay the #%## home if your not feeling well at all etc. For 1 night only rooms, its good to go. If you are booking a room,  and using it for more then 1 day, they are not doing the usual daily cleaning. Keeps potential exposure to the cleaning staff at a minimum.  You can request more towels etc from the office, and they may have a spot to get them from in the hallway in the building closer to Tim Hortons, but will see how the first few group of visitors goes. Trying to have only 1 person in the office at a time for check in etc. MASKS PLEASE.  And in the section that is close to Tim Hortons,  please use your common sense, also wear  MASKS in the hallway.

Lets do our part to not screw this up for all of our fellow sledders.

Yes we have rooms booked. B)

Also i have talked to the Companion Inn in Hearst.  The restaurant in not open for Breakfast.  They are doing a continental breakfast,  and ask that you go get it, and return to your room. MASKS used outside of room please.  Doing room service for supper if you request that, and alcohol to your room. Sounds like restaurant is good for lunch and dinner. Not sure about seating, but was told that some of the rooms they have in the restaurant,  could be used to seperate your group, or a larger party. All with local health protocols of course.  Again, lets not try and screw this up.

We have rooms booked next door at the old Queens,  which is a super 8 now. Companion Inn and Super 8 have same owner now.

Thanks for all the info TD!!

Just installed on my phone, but no where did it verify that I was spending $3.99, so not sure if I got the free app or the paid version.

Edit, as I was looking at the app, it says to access certain features, you need to subscribe at $3.99/year.

I clicked on the top left circle with the lines and went to sign in, at that point it asked if I wanted to upgrade the app.

Good intentions, but Timken closed up (most?) of it's facility in Canton some years ago and makes them in China now too.

They were stamped USA, only prerequisite I had to was replace with non China made bearings.  I think some of their automotive bearings are still made is the US.  I bought them on amazon and would have been shipped back same day if I saw China on the side of them.

  12. I have a 2018 Legend hybrid trailer that I bought new in January of 2018.  I haven’t had any issues, build quality is very good, better then others priced similarly.  Dexter axle, side and nose doors, led lights inside and out.  Only thing I changed were the Chinese wheel bearings that I replaced with a set of timkens before last season.  That being said my next trailer will be in inline v nose drive in drive off, my buddy bought one last season and I really like it, tows very well.

  13. My ‘19 Cat is the first sled I’ve owned that had a tether.  It took a ride or two to get used to, but it’s second nature now, don’t even have to think about it.  I will be adding a tether to my other sleds in the fall.  Yamaha has a tether kit to add to the viper that’s a pretty easy install.  All new sleds should come with a tether as standard equipment imho.
