I was thinking the same thing. Everyone giving up when things are really still pretty good. Next 2 weeks forecast looks promising. Hope we get a bit of snow coming out of this warm spell to keeps things lubed up.
Right on! Winter doesnt just turn to spring and melt everything in a matter of days up here. Lotsa snowpack left. Just need enough to fill the drags again and repair the snow bridges👍

We were over to baysville yesterday and it was still good. Road run in town is getting thin but carbides and sliders are disposable lol

Mary is fine on the main trail across with 8". The trail that runs over from the beach to the "T" is the sketchy one and i wouldnt recommend.

If i was coming up from the city for a day ride i would drop in baysville. You can hit up east side hgr and over to dorset and dwight without being on a lake and minimal road running. Dickie lake in baysville is likely ok. If Raven is ok then you can ride 64 too.

Not bad. We still got a base but its soft today in hgr. Scraping the odd rock but even the road runs were'nt bad. Should freeze up tonight -13c. Was out putting up new map sign boards on east side. Open house tomorrow at the groomer shop. Free bbq and vintage sleds on display. Hoping for a good turn out!

my reny last year threw a couple studs ,so i took them all out .after about 30 years of having studded tracks ,it took a bit of adjusting to braking and gassing .but seems a little more fun overall .turns much easier.that being said i will be replacing track with ice ripper someday .just put on a less aggressive carbide too .i must be getting old.
Same here. Took me 2 seasons to get used to the IR track. Kept riding it like i had studs. It is funner.
Im gonna try the quali pieces navigators next week. Had the stock 4" on the last 1800kms in Quebec but around here they arent quite cutting it.- 1

Is anyone crossing Mary Lake in the stake line path? Have been staying off the lake so far due to the slush factor but if there are tracks in certain places this cold will harden it up as Steve F6 suggested.
Yesterday there was 8" at 400' out. Beyond that 5" and slush. Looks like someone track packed the stake line today so by tomorrow that should be tight but its a sketchy year for ice.

West side HGR has had 3 passes with the drag on and listed yellow. East side has some wet spots still and wont be open for a bit yet. Mary lake is slushed up under the snow but this cold will help.

I wish Blake and Turbo Doo would check back in sometime. A difference of opinion doesnt equal ill will in my opinion but to each their own i guess. Nunz has stuck around! Yay!
Also Panther340 disagreed with some covid opinions too and it got heated a bit at times and he's still around. Always a great contributor and stuck by his opinion and respected others right to do so. Never met ya bud but i respect that and kudos to ya for that.- 13

East side of HGR is cleared of trees. They are working on the west side D trail now.

The rates sure are up. The sledder package is becoming $260 per night real quick in most places.
Split between 2 people. $55 meal voucher which you can use for breakfast too. I think i can eat breakfast and dinner for that since i dont dabble in the booze anymore. $130 a night each isnt terrible.
I've never been to mt.laurier so im looking for good day loops. -
We have 2 rooms booked for a trip from jan 28- feb 1 at comfort inn. Around 260 a night double room with sledder package.

Still snow in the bush in muskoka but the water is running and alot of trees down. Full tank of fuel through the chainsaw today just clearing the feeder trail. Need a hand tomorrow getting one final tangled mess of trees cleaned up that i shouldnt do alone. Dont need more rain that they're calling for on tuesday. Our lake turned to slush so thats good, at least it'll freeze solid now on wednesday night.

Little bit open north of Rouyn Noranda. Thinking of going next week if they can get it cleaned up and groomed

Baysville has the best shot at opening first in muskoka once they can pack it down.

For relevance how tall is the snow gauge?About 30". I'd say total we're over 3 feet now since yesterday. Roofs are gonna need shoveling. Never done that in december.
Has anyone heard about trail grooming in Muskoka?

D103b by Clearwater lake this morning. Scratchers would be needed. The usual bad spots are bad. Lotsa base where its good.
