  1. Baysville was in good shape yesterday. Couple icy corners which will be worse by tonight. The road run was bearable and didnt over heat. Its thin through dickie lake but once past all that its good. Turned around at the tall pines limit as we didnt plan on a big ride and just did all the good stuff that Happy wanderers has. Very little traffic yesterday.

Its that pricing you speak of from a few years back is what got me into AC.  I bought 3 ACs from 2017 to 2021. All new-non currents with substantial discounts. It was a no brainer and to be honest, you can't complain about the quality!

Bought my 17 zr600 as a leftover for 11500 out the door and 0% finance. It was a hell of a deal and a great sled. I remember they had 16 zr4000 RR's for 6000 plus taxes.

    Didn’t take you for a reckless rider….lol

Glad all situations turned for the better, for you.

Lol We all have the occasional day dreaming moment or whoopsie during the season. I ride the same if im leading, mid pack or tail gunner or solo. On the right side. No i dont get passed ever but of all the people i do follow for a bit i gotta say the worst offenders of riding the center are the slower riders. Thats 100% the truth. The fast cowboys cutting corners are no better and they'll learn the hard way someday too.

Looking to get out for my 1st ride of the season this weekend. lol. yeah I know I'm a little late to the party this season but it just hasn't worked out for me this year.   Any suggestions for a staging point within a hour drive from Bala to ride this weekend?  Thanks folks. Happy trails :)

In my opinion with the road running situation i'd try Raven lake hwy 35 head east to 64 and up to 101 area 65-67 trails. Or try North Portage rd town dock on LOB then head up 76 off LOB to 101 area 65-67 trails. HGR will be good too but the road runs connecting to the other clubs aint nice.  The 80 series trails will be good too but im not sure of parking. Maybe others will chime in. Enjoy!

  4. Quick little ride to Baysville and back. Its fast! Plenty of cooling.  Couple close calls on the way back. One GTouring on the wrong side of the trail, then im coming thru by the pit at pioneer camp and smoked a big porcupine. It died, my sleds fine i think. Then just barely got stopped for a downed tree across the lake access trail. Turned around took a detour home and got the saw out and took care of that. Topped a new hi speed mark on the lake.

Yup i feel the same i am by scarcliffe bay and saw sleds running the lake last weekend

i was hoping to run from the cottage to spirit bay marina (across the top end of lake muskoka) since c102d is mostly road running to get to bracebridge

maybe i will just wait till next week when i take off back to Quebec

There has been a private stake line in the past. Perhaps call the marina and the resort and see if its in. I've used it in the past.

  6. All good in D7 today. 51, 54, LOB, 76, d101 to ASC shelter all mint. 65 66 67 good, needs a groom to widen it out since no one rides there side in fresh snow. 101 down to 63, fuel at MTH good, 64 south to Raven lake was top shelf👌, d101 to Baysville limit was tough as usual. Baysville was good getting icy in corners by this time. Back to HGR chopped but still ok. Someone smucked a tree real bad just past the baysville gas station. Bummer. Passed the groomer on his way down d102 by Freds. A good ol muskoka rodeo. Please dont signal me when riding down the middle of the trail and im eating the bank. Not kosher, i dont give a rats ass who's behind you or any other handy info you have to pass along at that moment in time lol. Peace out.

If it was open and closed only then wouldn't there be many many more people riding closed trails and causing extra grief for enforcement and and additional danger for volunteers working on  the trails. Quebec has 4 different trail ratings.

I hear ya but i think those folks are colour blind anyway and will ride closed trails regardless of colour status.

Yeah maybe.  They're really not doing the snowmobiling community any favors though.  Sometimes I think the ITG would be better if it was just open or closed.  Eliminate the limited which is interpreted so differently from area to area.  Then again I'm in the camp that thinks they should show the grooming delay like New Brunswick does.  I'm sure it's lawyers saying that can't happen, but sure would be nice to give folks the info they want.

👍Thats how it should be. Open, closed and a groomer delay. Let the clubs/districts give conditions like qc does.

I have been using the Qualipieces carbides this year and have both the Adventures and the treks, Here is my take on them.

Treks work really well in hard pack trails, not super agressive in the the corners

Adventures- love them for all types of conditions, been running the 4 inch carbide but am getting a set of the 8 inch as I think they will be a little more agressive for cornering.

Last season I ran the 8 inch ACS carbides on my gripper skiis and was quite happy with them, great longevity to them

    Hope this helps

I put the "treks" on and they work good but they dont like reverse. Grabs hard and track spins. Did u find that as well?  I have a set of the adventures here too that i should try but the only reason i put the treks on was difficulty putting the adventures on after my sub par drilling and measuring install on the skis.

  10. Freshly groomed in hgr. Headed toward baysville and decided to give the B trail a try to lake st Nora. Some logging but enough snow for cooling, some really good sections after that then the often neglected Haliburton section which was as usual neglected. Hopped on 64 to kawagama its minty, topped up at Mountain trout house, up d101  in good shape to the asc shelter for a nice long break then did 65, 67 in good shape and back d101 to Dorset then it got nasty till we got to Baysville. Found a cell phone on d101, dropped it off at cast iron and had a great burger. Returned to Port sydney. 256kms. The water hole by pioneer camp pit has opened up so be careful till we get some snow. All in all a great day!
