No snow in Huntsville. We got a covering but there really is no base anymore

In the bush theres a good solid frozen base. From what i seen yesterday the wash out/wet spots had froze up tight. The good logging road and cottage access road trails will be good if they get the groomers out on them. Enought snow to fill the drag. Here's hoping.

I believe that when they first opened this year the latest trails in that area to open were the Ville Marie and north trails where there is a lot of open fields etc. They may be more of an issue than  the railbed.

Yes thats true. Between Ville marie and la force is not good on a low snow year.

I’m driving to the cottage tomorrow in Fugereville I will check things out and let you know . So far my plan is to trailer to Val-for on Monday and start riding from there but if it looks good enough I will ride right from the cottage

Would be nice to see 309(rapid 7) get groomed with fresh snow. The rail line leaving temiscaming should be ok up to ville-marie. Debating leaving from there Saturday.

I have not used the Kimpex system at all but have used the Linq bags and gas caddy with the Upnorth Technologies bracket with good success, this year going to run one of the South Simcoe Machine dual brackets they just released and see how it goes.

The Upnorth Technologies brackets are really well made.  Great option as well for the short tracks to get an extra linq spot. Now if we could just get a linq stackable oil caddy.

What is everyone seeing for ice thickness throughout cottage country?  Despite the warm days we've had some cold nights.  Are the lakes coming along.

Last weekend on Mary lake only 4" maybe more in the bays. People were skating on it. On our smaller lake we were at 7" with a 1" layer of wet sanwiched in the middle. All puddled up again now but should freeze up sunday night.

I booked a Gaspie trip for the end of next week tonight wasn’t planning on going there this year but it’s time to do something before it’s over

Any trouble finding rooms? How big of a group?

  7. Just need that rain to not happen on friday. After that it looks somewhat promising. I've never been this late in the season and not had quality seat time on some white ribbon. Chasing snow somewhere in Quebec after this week. Probably put 250-300kms on doing trail work and that doesnt count.

  8. The ice is making a lot of noise tonight. Hoping the middle layer freezes with the cold tonight. Sounds like a gunshot at times and it echoes

I am in St Michel right now.    Not tons of snow but they are grooming pretty consistently.

We parked the truck in Mont Laurier and the 1st 20kms out of town are terrible.     The trail should be closed.     Once you get about 20kms outside of town things get a lot better.

The further north you go the better the trails for sure.

Thanks for the update. Staying north of montreal and looping or heading north east and back?

  10. Just need the lake effect westerly winds to come back. The foot or so we have is nice frozen and hard packed. My sled drag would barely cut into it all yesterday.

Thats somewhat promising to see. I guess. Cold nights might freeze the other lakes this week. Checked our lake today and there's still a layer of water/slush sandwiched in between top and bottom layers of ice. Abour 8-9" of what ever u wanna call that lol

  12. Ya i missed out on some riding in southern Ontario yesterday having my sled up north but it'll come. Its great when the south is open as it takes pressure off northern trails. Freezing rain in port sydney now and the hydro just flickered a while ago. We'll see some hydro out tonight i bet with all that heavy snow in the trees still. Grab some gas for the genny if you havent yet.

And I got crap thrown at me for posting this stuff, last week. LOL!

I probably shouldn't say anything about the plus 10 temps, coming for several days next week then. Ski

Ya but we had snow squalls then. Lol lotsa winter left for us to enjoy. Cheers

  14. Getting that squall in port sydney now. White out on the hwy!

Tip of the day-Do not sit in the turn around on hwy 11 at Stephenson rd 2 with your 4ways on waiting for the snow to slow down. Retards just begging to get smoked by a plow and cause a major pile up🫣

  15. If the wind picks up with this heavy snow, it'll start bringing trees down. Calling for squalls today and tomorrow! Almost time for the honda blower💪

  16. Curious what everyone else does? I had an "incident" last year with a ladder falling over and it left a big scratch on the side. Pretty unsafe on a ladder with a shovel. I've thought about maybe using my diesel heater and melting it from the inside out. Might work if you got lotsa time. Lets hear your ideas/techniques!
