  1. 2022 Xrs 850 with 2900 kms . Last day of riding in Timmins, had already done 600 k the first two days.  Twelve of us headed to Iroquois falls. I’m in middle of group, about 45 minutes into ride I begin to smell a faint odour of gas fumes. I check my gas cap and link gas caddie, all good. I think it must be a loose gas cap ahead of me. Within 30 seconds we are at a road crossing and I flag the group to pull over. I tell them I can smell gas and they should check their caddies . After being stopped on trail for 20 seconds or so , smoke starts coming out of my vents, open left panel and see flames about 6 inches high. We scramble and try to put it out with snow to no avail. Within 30 seconds it was fully involved . Really sucks as it was the first brand new sled I have ever bought. Something either came loose or rubbed through.

Yes it was. As others have posted great burger!

Which way did you head. Had conditions (on plowed roads) been better , doing the loop to Gilchrist Bay might've been considered. Today would be perfect.

Friday was a Chandos-Coe Hill (hide away lunch) - rail trail south to Marmora loop.Saturday was Stoney Lake ride with 14 of us to Honeys for lunch. Sunday we had a mini snocross track at a friends farm and had all the kids on 120’s. Peak season around here .

New & old camps. The new 1 has a walk out basement. As 1 of the guys said from a neighbouring camp said "They've been watching too much Buckmasters".

Nepheline syenite mine near 'Blue Mountain'. There is another operation near Nephton. That operation is being combined w/ this upgraded facility. If you see trains of covered hoppers on the CPR passing thru Pontypool or Burketon, they came from here.

The infamous Twin Lakes Hotel (it's for sale). I was only there once, but it was quite the destination back in the day...

Our destination for lunch in Havelock. E107 passes right beside it.

  4. I made the move to the ski doo muffs and thin gloves 2 years ago , been great . I take a ribbing for the muffs but when you wake up in Cochrane and it’s -20 everybody wants them. Usually carry one pair thick gloves in case grips quit working.

  6. Hey Rev, what would be available for food  in Apsley these days. I ended up at the general store for subs last year a couple of times.. We used to frequent the Stoney Point Marina on Kosh but it hasnt opened for two winters now.

  7. I haven’t heard of the eota trying to keep sledders from using rail trail in my area (Havelock -Marmora). We are looking at re-routing a few kilometres of trail South of Twin Lakes due to landowner difficulties with atvs in the summer ,weekend warriors ,mostly. I know an executive on the eota and will be speaking with him soon.

I don't use the system, not since I was squeezed into it for one trip, 11 kilometers, 1.3 hours, in 1992, but I do pay for it.

Thank goodness for union protection, or this "driver" might have been washed out of Top Gun school.

You may remember this one. This driver was having a bit of an "issue". Nobody is willing to admit what actually happened.

They're still sorting out the lawsuits.

Was there not just a Double Decker fire this week ?
