  1. His next act of stupidity will be the IQ tax. Only citizens with an IQ level over 5 will be taxed by this. This exempts all Liberals and their supporters from having to contribute.

I think that most often on an aluminum trailer it isn't the fastner that fails. it's the aluminum around the fastner.

If you want to do the job right, when you replace fastners you need to put some plastic between the aluminum and the steel. Cut up anything, a dish soap container will work. Just so the steel isn't directly against the aluminum. The bolt shanks are hard to do but at the least put some silicone sealant on the bolts and let it dry before assembly. Put honeygoo or similar all over the bolts/nuts and washers when you complete assembly and clean/ respray regularly.  I have been told by a gentleman at a metal fab and fire truck repair shop that stainless hardware will rot unprotected aluminum faster than regular steel hardware.

Stainless and aluminum do not get along especially when road salt and slop are involved. This increases galvanic corrosion. Better off using plated hardware, also areas where metal and aluminum touch should be insulated.

As you mention, the decision was made by a health official. If you believe you should have restitution for permit cost you should go after the health department not the OFSC.

Don’t recall saying I was looking for restitution but I know for a fact the businesses that rely on sledders will never forget the actions of this incompetent idiot.

They'd be foolish not to go for an increase IMO.  The south had good snow last year, sales were way up due to covid.  If not now then when?  Only folks that could really be pissed would be those in the Near North Trails Association who got screwed over by their local health unit.  Maybe the folks in Wawa as well who had a poor year.  But both areas get good snow most years.  So riders there will get good value this winter.

I care less what permit prices are , but those riders from district 10& 11 should be given a discount this season as these districts were closed for most of last season due to the decision made by an incompetent health official.

Electric sleds.  I'll be done with the sport, if that ever takes over.

Not to worry TD the lefty socialist snowflakes that think this would be ideal have no idea what draws the sane people to sledding. When the first electric powered airliner comes on board I doubt any of them will be on it.

Still waiting for someone to show me sledders spreaded covid..Such a disaster for that area in regards to sledding.

Another prime example of some non elected twit causing financial hardship to hundreds of businesses and citizens of these districts. Hard to believe his compensation package is just slightly south of the train wreck we have steering the Canadian ship.

The logic is to groom them to prepare for a quick opening . We can only hope for this however it would look dumb if the health unit allowed the trails to open and they were not ready

It was even dumber that these trails were closed to begin with. Only districts in Ontario, another example of someone put in a job they are incapable of doing. Much like the train wreck we currently have steering the Canadian ship.

Just did some math. 0 klicks or 0 miles so far, one of the benefits of riding an area controlled by an idiot.

From the sounds of it you may be spot on. Trails in this area are in the best shape ever.

Why are these trails still being maintained? They are not going to open this season. The OFSC would like to thank all sledders who purchased permits to ride districts 10&11 and got shafted. As for businesses that have suffered insurmountable losses due to trail closures look no further than the poster boy for stupidity. Cheerios

  11. I was talking  to a landowner yesterday who happens to have an OFSC trail running through his property located in Dr. Cheerios closed down area. Explained to me how he encountered 4 cross country skiers on his property and how they were frantically waving their ski poles as he approached on his sled. Thinking they may have needed assistance he slowly approached and shutdown his machine . He was immediately barraged with a bunch of 4 letter profanity laced threats telling him f’ing sleds are not allowed on the trail. He responded with, perhaps you didn’t see the no trespassing signs posted on the property. I own this property, so  get off it now. Being an avid sledder is the only reason he allows the trail on his land. That being said he is getting annoyed at sledders riding off trail. Could be another lost trail in the future.

Unbelievable. Our numbers don`t even begin to justify this. What does DR Cheerios have on the the Chief MOH. Did they go to medical school  together or work together? Northbay has  all there active cases in 1!! apartment building. Parry Sound is up from 3to 4. The fact that we are the only ones out side of the GTA not to released from lockdown is almost criminal.

Dr. Cheerios is an anesthesiologist which basically means his expertise revolves around putting people to sleep. Unfortunately for him some of the medications he used when practicing drifted towards something residing between his left and right ears.

    why are those trails closed?

The medical officer of health, Dr. Cheerios has closed all trails in district 10 and 11 . These are the only districts in Ontario that are closed. He has kept them open for cross country skiing because those people are immune from the Chinese produced virus.

The North Bay - Parry Sound Medical Officer of Health had a brief "News" Conference earlier this week which required pre-submitted questions and from which he apparently chose which of those to answer.

In Southern Ontario and here in Region of Waterloo and also Guelph MOH  the local MOH's are on the news almost daily answering reporter's questions at great length. This is same scenario I watch on CP24 with Toronto, Brampton and GTA MOH answering reporters questions.  Same for Ontario MOH and also Federal MOH as well as Premier Ford and PM Trudeau.  I am not saying they answer every question thoroughly but the questions are made public and at least they answer as they choose.

I am advised that no one in North Bay (MOH, Mayor or MPP) are responding to any representations in this regard.

Some theorize that this Order originated shortly after the trails in the area were opened and many snowmobilers visited the Town of Mattawa for fuel, food, lodgings, etc. and the Mattawa Mayor went very public condemning the actions that placed his residents at increased risk.  Whether this was a turning point only the MOH knows.

According to other FB posts, he is a member at the Nordic Ski Club which wasn't included in the Order but did modify their rules to allow Members Only on Saturday & Sunday and to post security guards in their parking lot on weekends to keep people separated. Personally, I see nothing wrong keeping an outdoor cross country ski trail open during the pandemic.

I feel terrible for my former club (NBSC) as well as the other clubs that fall within the boundaries of the North Bay - Parry Sound District Health Unit, the only one in all of Ontario issuing this Order. NBSC is getting unfairly blasted on their FB page by many who are understandably frustrated by the situation and some even asserting that the Club is the guilty party.

Yes, the tourism and hospitality businesses are getting unduly slammed as you can imagine.  These few months of snowmobile tourism revenue will be forever lost and the ill will and stress created is staggering.

Whether the MOH relents on February 16th is questionable. Lifting the Order now really cannot be justified as nothing has really changed from this week to next week, particularly considering the recent extensive outbreak with a variant mutation reported at a large North Bay apartment complex.

, I see nothing wrong keeping an outdoor cross country ski trail open during the pandemic?  Especially if it benefits an overpaid entitled nitwit. Seeing as the season is coming to a close I am wandering where area sledders who have been ripped off apply for permit reimbursement. Seems the OFSC has been next to useless in solving this problem.

Cancelled our family annual Family day- week trip  in the subject region. The lodge and cabin owner was literally in tears over the situation as he is garnering no income at all this season.

Hopefully he makes it through this and we can make it up to him big time next year. (4-5 cabins for the week normally)

Fortunately we are able to ride from home and make the best of the week.

The dip&hit that closed the trails cares less about private sector businesses and how it affects people’s mental health. He will enjoy skiing on groomed trails without having to worry about those pesky sledders. He will probably open the trails around the end of March, just in time for his boating ban to be announced.

It's not the province doing this... it's one rogue medical officer. I wonder who hires and fires these people

I realize it is not the province responsible for this act of stupidity, but this moron is paid by the Ontario taxpayers. He was hired by the province so therefore could be fired by the province. Being the only medical officer in Ontario implementing this on sledders he definitely qualifies for acceptance in the OABD club.

Spoke with councilor, was one man decision, unbelievable. Don't think he really and truly understands what he has done

to these small towns and businesses that rely on this sport. Sad state of affairs, sorry Bill. Hopefully they will let us lose next weekend.

I was going to reach out to my councillor (ward 5 )but given past experiences a friend of mine had with this twit I decided I would be further ahead talking to a rock.
