I wonder if the mid-size truck will, or maybe already has, make a comeback with the way things are.
There used to be the Dakota and Ranger, that were fairly popular I thought, then they both stopped, I am guessing because all were buying the full-size trucks.
My first truck was a Dakota - it was a great truck!
What is the price gap between a Ranger and F150 with similar trim levels?
There is roughly a $20k difference between a high-end Lariat Ranger and a high-end XLT Sport F150.

I've had two F150's (2012 and current 2016) with the 5.0L, its soon time to trade but I'm not paying $80k for a new F150. The 2024 Ranger is looking nice, but it doesn't look like there will be a 6-cylinder option without going to the Raptor, I am having a hard time wrapping around the 2.3L Ecoboost 4-cyl.
I'd be towing a Triton TC-167 type trailer and a 14' tandem flat trailer with a Can-Am Maverick XXC.
Anyone have the Ranger with the 2.3L? Is it a slug compared to the 5.0L? Towing?
-
Question...comparing the Pro Starr inline with the 6" additional height, and a Triton TC167, which has a higher interior height? Which would you buy?
-
Opinions on Excalibur trailers in Brampton?
-
How does the Pro Starr Bullitt inline compare to the Triton TC167? Comparable (or better) quality? Springs vs torsion axles?
-
Not looking for a setup where I have to grunt machines around to make them fit, too old for that LOL. Does anyone have any experience with brands other than Triton? How do they compare?

Just curious why you dont want brakes? Every couple of years you are better to replace baking plates, ( 4 bolts, 2 wires, easy to do) and I wouldnt do without them..
I have friends with larger V-nose sled/utility trailers, and they have to service them every year. I've been present when they had to adjust them...no thanks.

I currently have a 2021 Triton XT10-101, and am looking to buy/order an enclosed trailer for next winter. It will be kept long-term, and aluminum is preferred. I'm open to opinions on torsion vs. leaf spring, but I don't want brakes and prefer single axle. My number one priority is quality and longevity. I've owned a couple Triton XT10-101's and have been happy with them.
The enclosed ones I'm considering are:
TC Series - Triton Trailers (would like opinions on the benefits of the LR low-rider option)
Pro Starr Hybrid (Rear Ramp Door) 8.5′ Wide Snowmobile – Action Trailers
My understanding is that the inline (narrower) trailers are called hybrids? I'm not familiar with the benefits to these, as they are more money, but would like to hear your thoughts. The ones I've seen online are:
https://reinharttrailers.com/products/triton-tc-167/
I've also found this trailer from Beckner:

Any and all opinions and input welcome.

100% agree. The silliness is coming to an end in all industries. Can't happen soon enough.
I agree 100%. I won't forget the ones that took away discounts and jacked prices MSRP+

Good luck Art, thank you for everything you've done over the years.

Headed back to Quebec for another extended long weekend. This time we based out of Mont-Laurier. New 2022 XCR850 was picked up by T on the way at Black’s Corners & they were so incredible to deal with!
We stayed at Complex Dix80. Simple but very clean & accommodating motel. The staff were incredible during booking process & even called to advise us when better rooms became available. They kept behind the building blocked for out two large trucks & trailers until we arrived. But the next/ shared parking lot behind St Hubert’s appears to be a huge staging parking lot. Motel did offer a simple continental brown bag breakfast. Muffins, cookies, fruit, yogurt, granola bars, cheeses, juices, bagels, toast, etc.
Trail leaves right from parking lot & you can head in two directions. As stated, there is a St Hubert’s next door & Vieu du Luth, an amazing Greek restaurant in front of the motel, along with many others within walking distance.
Ski-Doo dealer across the road, which became important on day two of riding.
They also offer fuel, as does a gas station just down the road to the west, if you follow the trail out of the hotel in that direction.
Day one of the riding we met our friends on the trails, just on the outskirts of town. While
waiting, saw lots of people heading to the mountains & expected very busy trails.
Heading to Montanage du Diable. Trails were in fabulous shape & hardly saw any traffic. Devils Mountain is a must see if in the area! They had to have at least six feet of snow at the top. The lodge was open & probably 50-60 sleds at the top.
Next stop was Pourvoire Club Fontbrune for a quick rest & peak around for potential future stays. Then a quick ride to Rabaska Lodge for a delicious lunch.
Toured for the rest of the day & about 25km from Mont Laurier one of the machines instantly heated to 220 after crossing a road & shut down. Waited for machine to cool but when started would ramp up & shut down. With a couple of auto mechanics with us they figured out the water pump had let go. Thankfully the road we had just crossed had a little store to park at. Fun adventure getting the sled there, but ended the day leaving one with the machine & bringing trailer back to pick him up.
Back at the motel chatting with others we found out the Ski-Doo dealer across the road had rentals. First thing the next morning our sad rider went across the street & was able to rent a new 850 Renegade for the day.
After getting the rental sorted out, we headed out for day two. After about of four inches of snow over night, the trails were very loose. Went through some major snow squalls & lots of snow dust. Stopped for lunch, fuel & great entertainment at a favourite, Meekos. Had to be over 200 machines in the parking lot. Once we were beyond fu we headed back out. Stopped at Chute du Windigo & glad we did. Such a beautiful spot, but we warned if you climb to the stop & the stairs are nonexistent due to ice, don’t come down on your butt! Lol
Dinner was on the trails at Shore Lunch. Cute little spot with good home
cooked meals. Trails were pretty beat up by this time & we were all glad to get back to motel at 9:30pm.
All in all another incredible Quebec adventure. North of Mont Laurier they still have to have 5-6 feet of snow. Riding trails along the ditches you are higher than the roof of cars driving by. No issues with traffic on the trails & amazing views. Will likely be back before the season ends!!
Sorry for the long post! 😁
We did Mont Laurier twice this winter, visited Devil's Mountain, Windigo Chutes, and Meekos Lodge, amazing! Hoping to go back next season to some of the other spots you mentioned. Sounds like you had a great time!

If you want food in SRF, visit Ellies Bristro...
Agreed! After the disaster we experience in December at Smoothies watching the owner/waiter and a sledder staying at the Moose Motel get into a shouting match, and waiting over an hour for our food in an empty restaurant, we tried Ellie's Bistro next door. Fantastic service and great food! They said they were considering opening for breakfast in the future. Its a shame what's become of that place.

I missed this one today. Meant to take it, but was the first down A112A out of Mattawa this morning and looped back around via the A.
The afternoon loop was supposed to include this MA170 but at a glance thought I saw a trail closed sign. Stayed on A112A and took NB308, which I would skip next time, as the west end of this road is plowed down to ice.
Surprised to see the groomer out so early (16:00) as there was lots of traffic out still, and all it took was a half dozen sleds to have it completely chewed and piled up.
Great 400k day after yesterday’s 450k day. Sadly heading back to Pembroke tomorrow, but all good things!
Spent Saturday in the NRSA/Missing Link trails, they were beyond amazing.

We are waiting on Mother Nature to change the lower part and the west side from yellow to more green before booking our annual ride around the park.

Wow. Guess everyone went for the 180 hp variant.
Or their 130 hp 900 hasn't arrived yet or is waiting on missing components.

In Smooth Rock Falls, Ellie's Bistro has take-out with a fantastic menu, great food! They are two doors down from the Moose Motel, easy walking distance. They are also considering opening for breakfast.
The go-to spot in SRF was Smoothies, but new owners have turned it into a complete sh*t show, very negative experience there a week ago and won't be back.
