That area is still open. Durham's Facebook page says they groomed last night and the groomer was still out as of 830am.

Wish I had the time to take one more ride.

Guy told me that the areas around Markdale that closed did it to prtotect base hoping that even after 3 or 4 days of warmer temps that it could reopen and get altleast another couple days in...Sunday calling for plus 7.......

  3. went through the hole mid afternoon on Sunday and it was not too bad....weather does suck for sure but hang in there...its funny, when waiting for trails to open I too wonder what the hell am I doing in this sport but once I am on the trail for the first ride of the year I am thinking that it would be a good idea to buy a new sled...lol....

Polaris is currently #2 in a weak 4 horse field. If they are serious about market share they need a 4 stroke presence. Last Thursday at a full Tata Chika Pika Lodge (Gogama), there were 12 sleds there: our two 900 Aces and 10 900 Ace Turbos from Vermont. All different models, but all 900 4-T. Four strokes aren't for everybody, but an increasing number of riders are heading there. Adapt or die!

    so whos 1,3, and 4?

  7. just curious how the base held up after the warm spell?..sure they are wrong but weather network calling for abit of snow for theses areas so wondering if the season can continue in theses areas...talked to a few guys who said if they get all the snow this week they could be open by the weekend again...not sure if that is just wishful thinking...

Running and complete it worth in the $3000.00 to $3500.00 depending on time of year you are selling it in my opinion. There are cheap side panels $60.00 on Kijiji in Quebec and if he can get the rest of the parts used and get some help from his buddy to put it back together that's the way to go because its probably worth  less than $1,000.00 the way it is.  Put it back together, make it look pretty and wait until after the first big snow next fall to put it on Kijiji.

side panel was fine, not a scratch on it..lol...

How many KM on the Vector?

Looks like the shaft might be off center,  could have been camera angle, or happened posthumously...

I think around 12 to 13 k's....what would you guys think that sled is worth as is?...he is trying to decide what to do???

Taking a second look, is the jackshaft actually broken?  It usually protrudes out from the bearing enough to support the secondary.  I agree that Terry in Orillia has a lot of used parts and is quite reasonable.  His phone number is 705 323-4506.

    shaft broke

Surprising that the belt guard didn't get damaged.  Was there no noise or other indicator that something was going amiss(ing)?

Nothing at all, no noise, vibration, etc...the bolt broke off , did not just come out,

??? My sled is a 2017 that I bought new-non current with a $4k savings.  I currently have 4,000km on it so am i missing something?

Only thing your missing is looking at my bank account..lol..

Wish I could get new sled but not in my wheelhouse but thumbs up to anyone who can...cheers

Geez, a lot of you riding 10+ yr old machines. Bound to happen I guess.  I don't think I would keep anything over 8,000km, its just not worth it.

Some of the trails I (we) ride are many many miles from an extraction point; just my luck one will break and the other breaks towing out the dead one.  Lets face it, with current tech, they (all mfgs) could easily make better (more reliable) products.

All you can do is understand your make/model's weak points, address them, maintenance, and hope like hell you got all the issues.

PS, how does a track "go" ???

man I wish I lived in your world..lol....man would have to trade and buy new sled every 2 years....$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The other thing we saw I forgot to mention was when we were riding through Palmerston, we came across their warm up shack and the garbage can outside (which is nice) was full of empty beer cans. Couldn’t believe it.

saw the same thing in Mattawa last year as well at one of the lookouts except there was no garbage can there, just tossed all over the ground.

sure those are they same guys who say they are comfortable riding like crazy because they can handle it...whats 3 or 4 beers on the trails, ...idiots....

  15. we rode down from Arthur Saturday and checked out the green sections open by Dundalk, Shelburne, etc...will say although clubs and volunteers  did fantastic work I had a hard time fiquiring out how or what made them green?..if those trails were green the the trails coming from Arthur( which were yellow) were green x10....
