Your last sentence is what I'd like to confirm as well, so in previous winters and during the off season the GRCA doesn't have insurance at all to cover people who might walk through the parks?
Although I guess their parks are closed in winter( I don't think they have winter walking trails?) so I'd be considered trespassing if someone were to get hurt? If it wasn't for the sled trails maybe you can't access the park really anyway.
It's an unfortunate situation but I understand the parties involved not wanting that extra liability.
They have groomed X country tails, packed snowshoe trails and plowed walking trails

I would like to know if this clause was always in the agreement or something new that the grca added this year.
I would like to know if all the trails are closed for all of the users as well? Should be in my opinion. It seems GRCA doesn't have winter insurance for the other groups.

Hmmmm..... how good are you dealing with major disappointments ? Life not meeting your expectations ??
However, leave out 12 tall boy dead cold cans of Molson Export, a bag of Cheezie Poofs and a jar of Dry Roasted Peanuts and I’ll see what I can negotiate with the Fat Man.
Do they still make Export?,and the big guy prefers the salted variety. Merry Christmas.

How many boats buy lock passes yearly?
I would bet the number is in decline.
I watch from our cottage over the years and notice a huge drop in boats travelling the system East of
Marinas have closed.
Kinda like sledding numbers will be in decline.
Actually there is shortage of Marinas in Ontario. The ones that are closing are due to external pressures that are mostly caused by regulations from the various governments.Try to find a slip in some parts of the province and you'll find yourself on a waiting list.Your antidotal evidence of boats traveling might be correct, fuel prices and peoples time has limited the scope in which they travel. The 3 major dock builders in my area are always busy as are the people that build storage sheds. No decline here.

The section of trail 02 is speaking of I suspect they will lose the in the coming years. It is really close to new developments It only takes 1 person with determination and time on there hands to shut it down.It hapn'd just east of there in Waubaushene a number of years ago..Funny they ran diesel trains through there with horns a blaring not too long ago.

We used to come down from Minden area.Lucky if we made it back before dark. Got better over the years and cheated on Salarno,Miss,Catch.5 points was great back in the day.Even climbed the tower on Greens mountain, when it was still there. You ever make it up the hill across from trappers?

I don't always dismiss made in China. They will build to whatever quality specs the contract calls for. If their customer wants them to cut costs and quality they will. If the customer wants top quality they are also very capable of producing high quality.
If you look at the Mercury Marine outboard plant in China vs the one in Wisconsin,Full of Meth heads. It just shows the sad state of some of the North American manufacturing facility's.

I cant imagine the regs I'm in contravention of out in my shop when I'm working away.
Is it any wonder long term volunteers who aren't familiar w/ gov't looking over your back, finally say 'Screw it, I'm going ice fishing...'
Long term is a key, A lot of the volunteers were born before most of the present bureaucracy was out of diapers.
You got trained in a safety and controlled environment. I think you are aware of the basic health and safety aspects of what you do.Did you have a H&S meeting with yourself before you went to the shop?Did you put pylons on your driveway before pulling out on 28,you know you are not allowed to turn left, you must go to designated turn around and come back. Where is the air recovery system for when your welding? Do you have welding gases on site? where is your TSSA cert for that.Burn those hats and anything that says your a business.I hope your shop does n' have a washroom Then you involve the.your local health dept.
Keep it low key and try not to advertise Once one of the enforcer of the regs get a hold of you ,you are in for it.It will not matter if you tell all of them it's just a hobby. Just my loonys worth.
Oh and thank you for the work U do on the trails over your way--cheers

By the same token, there are those that go beyond what is lawful and take matters into their own hands keeping people off trails/private property.
There has been a FB Group post/thread with video of a land owner who has inserted t-bars and wire to keep people out. OPP were called out and a lot of banter as to whether or not it was actually township or the owners property. Some of the comments are.. well, they'll make you shake your head. We'll leave it at that.
Regardless of which it is, some folk are having enough of others lack of respect when it comes to crossing property lines or utilizing a trail that goes through their property that isnt officially opened by the OFSC.
Do they need to go as far as t-bar and wire or worse?
No absolutely NOT
Someone is going to get seriously hurt or worse. The ensuing lawsuit and media fallout will make it even worse for those that abide by the laws. Regardless of whether you ride trails, power lines, powder or d-bang, there will always be a few who ruin it for the masses...
Putting anything that is a hazard is ultimate grounds for a lawsuit, even on your OWN property.Snow fence and caution tape not so much.Unfortunately it doesn't work, nor do gates or properly signed barriers.Several high powered ATV/SXS can move one of those concrete barriers.

Really? You attend one training session and this makes you entitled? I think that attitude is kind of what we're talking about.
You are pissing up the wrong tree/fence.He has done nothing wrong. Do you think a groomer is going to head out on that trail before somebody has run it.Seen many of pictures of Dennis with a chainsaw in tow.Your belittling of a volunteer should doesn't help.

I know the whole liability issue is a hot topic right now. Whether it’s insurance liability on trails or liability as a club/district director or officer, it’s all related.
just out of curiosity has there ever been an instance were someone has been held personally liable for fines/settlements as a result of their acting in their capacity for a club or district?
A member of the board in D10 was charged with an offense under the OHSA in 2007,08? Yes it was personal.

I had a number of alpine,s with single ski.
Not as user friendly as what you posted..
On twin tracked Ski-Doo race sleds they had a clutch/ brake system that would release the inside track for turning left.Don't you think a modification like thatwould have served the Alpine well. lol

when operations are run through the district and there is a strong trail committee, the list of resources is very impressive. To bad there wasn't cooperation system wide, cause it works.
That is why STP.PSSD,MSR. HCSA have worked fairly well aver the last 10-15 years.Running operations through the district is second nature to us.
