When I opened the link that you provided, one of the first things I saw was the following Nicholas Cruise started this petition to Ofsc  (sorry for font size). If this petition is being sent to the OFSC as is indicated, it is a waste of time.

If the OFSC closes those particular trails tomorrow, they would be doing so because they have been ordered to do that by the North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit. Therefore sending a petition to the OFSC is a waste of time and effort.

To have any chance of being effective the petition needs to be sent to Dr. Jim Chirico at the NBPS Health Unit who is the person that ordered the trails closed in the first place.  JMHO

    Good luck with the petition.

Dr Jim serves at the pleasure of the government,it is an appointed position. The petition  needs to go to  his boss.Doug Ford and the Minister of Health. You can start by PHONING not email, they can be ignored your MPP.

What do all you armchair internet doctors know anyways.......:coffeenose:

Easy to blame people who choose to ride with all these "reports" of breaking the rules.....:poke2: Although I am sure they were some that did, but I am also guessing that it was a very small percentage of sledders that did. I know a couple of guys that went to NB to ride this past Sat, they each drove their own trucks to ride the day together, packed food, drinks, etc.... so they could enjoy themselves and still be responsible given the environment.

Or maybe easier targets because they rode and you did not because of choices you made.

Or all the paranoid folks that are living in fear right now, not working as a result of that, that have nothing better to do with all their government paid free time off that sit and watch out their window at all the other people trying to get on with life, issuing complaints about what they see...

Sorry if I sound a wee bit jaded....

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seemed to me with all these systems in place, the "COVID-19 task force" was able to get a pretty good idea where one might be getting infected by, if so, would that not tell the tale of infections and where it came from to properly point the finger as to where the problem is with some level of intelligence?

Seems to be another knee jerk reaction, not because there is really a spike in positive cases or in facet people not following protocols, more so because people are not "following the stay at home order", so this is what we will do to fix that.

    So just to be clear:

    • Group of riders drive north for the day to ride
    • They ride together for the day wearing a helmet for my guess 90% of the time
    • Cannot go to or in any establishments to possibly "spread the virus" that they might have
    • End of the day, they come home

Sounds like we have a pretty serious risk on our hands here.....:headbang:

Parry Sound #s are some of the lowest in central Ontario.Dr Jim needs a kick in the nuts.

Unfortunately there are people who like to ride open water or water and ice in the area. YouTube April Fools if you want to see what I mean. These people ride open water all the time and it’s all good until the belt gets wet or breaks. It’s probably an absolute riot sledding where you boat but all it takes is one miscalculation, that water is cold. Ride safe, you will live longer! I feel sorry for the family left behind.

April Fools fellows know the water well and was a calculated risk that they where prepared for.Not condoning it but it's a cool vid. The area has sunk way more boats than sleds but the water is warmer and the outcome is not surprisingly better.

  4. Even in the best of years the area of Sturgeon Bay between Penatang-Waubaushene to Port Severn is never as it appears to be.There is many Poynyas--good for seals and narwhals not so much for sledders.Even the locals who have lived there whole life get caught. This year you are foolish to be out there.

Where and when does this event take place?. :wtf:What?.

Best I can figure it is a Breast Cancer charity run with a catch. Despite the cold weather the corn feed cheeseheads from Wisconsin do a Kelly Shires type run. Appropriately Knockers is a local brewery that sponsors the event.        I t is a weekend gathering that raises a large sum of cash for the pink ribbon campaign.I imagine it is in late winter early spring considering the attire.

I agree that it might be a stretch but I don’t need the stress or anxiety of having a roadside/trailside argument/discussion with a LEO or a court discussion with a judge or my insurance company. Do it right and kill the chance of it happening. I believe the word is “proactive”. I might be attempting retirement but I won’t afford time for that crap.

Parry Sound Service Ontario is usually in and out in 5 minutes and they are polite.I can go there faster than online.

You should know the saying."Since retirement I have been so busy I don't know how I ever had time to go to work."

Probably belongs in the Rant thread but why do these charities insist on torturing people? Run up to the top of the CN Tower and then send money to a charity? Just send money. Unless of course you have a charity for those who ruptured themselves, suffered muscle and bone injuries, or had a heart attack while participating in a charity fund raising event. Hmmm.... too bad all the good ribbon colours have been used up....

Knockers Bikini Run for Charity might be an exception.

Thanks Slomo. I was asking because a group of lady friends that usually do the Kelly Shires B=Cancer run won't being doing it do to the run being cancelled this year. However i guess they can still contribute by doing their own run by documenting it and Keiiy Shires will then accept the donation money. They have talked about the Trappers Choice. Have you heard anything about that place and their accomodations? Thanks...

Trappers Choice is a little rough getting too. You have to run the sidewalk through the GM dealer and a well plowed No Frills parking lot. It is only accessible from the north. Food is good.I haven't been in the rooms in 30 yrs ..Canadian Tire Gas bar next door. Timmies within walking distance.

Agreed on the lack of enforcement. I put on 5713kms last year all over the province and Quebec and saw ZERO enforcement. Not 1

I belong to the 50yr club.I have been stopped for papers twice in that time. All regions of Ontario and Kbec. But I haven't rode on weekends in years. The groomer can be an effective tool for enforcement on tight trails.LOL

We have that one & 2 other versions.

Still see a few @ the races each winter. Much better looking than their current offerings. Maybe a chartreuse & teal version would be a big seller?

I also have 2. They where a $1.00 back in the day.

A student whose permanent home is in the GTA, but goes to school in Sudbury had a hard time convincing the OPP that she lived for the semester in Sudbury, because she understandably hadn't  changed her driver's licence. She was able, on her phone, to find her rental agreement email from her landlord, and only then was she allowed to carry on north. She wasn't the only one stopped. We were told by our medical officer of health to stay home. We were also told not to share a vehicle with people we didn't live with. People were told not to go to their own cottages. There were a lot of rules relaxed in the summer that may be re-introduced.

I live in Pte au Baril and never seen, heard about or witnessed such a roadblock. The MTO,MNRF,and the Ride follks use it frequently as it is slower traffic and they have space to corral us bad people.

Yea it's Kushog. No particular reason.Known Mark since 75 or so. But there boys did run Kashawigamog every day in the winter for high skool.

Run it until the heat guage  is higher than normal and if the antifreeze in the barrel is steaming and the antifreeze exiting all ports of the engine is hot, the stat has opened. There are a number of 4.3l engines and others that you have to run them to get antifreeze into the belly of the intake manifold. Flushing won’t push the water out from there unless you are using a strong power flushing unit. If you end up with a cracked intake manifold in the spring, you know what happened.

Thank you for mentioning that.Ive been too busy winterizing boats. There is a plug in the front of the manifold that can be removed.Quite surprised who much water comes out. That manifold is hard to get as well.

A cottager on Big Cedar Lake on North Kawartha wants the discharging of firearms included in the township's noise bylaw. I've been hearing a lot of fireworks all summer long. I wonder if the cottager knows the difference between a 30-06 and a Roman Candle or M80?

The Township of The Archipelago has a year round bylaw prohibiting fireworks.Only exceptions are Canada day,Memorial day and Labour day. It is however hard to get the Bylaw guy out 25 miles in the bay,and it doesn't appear to enforced inland.
