Hear that the OFSC is not purchasing any groomers this year.

Don't buy what you are not going to use???

According to our Governor OFSC purchase 10 new groomers. District 11 to get 2 of them.

'Culverts' for TOP C @ the lower right?

No the culverts are not for the C trail. The trail crosses the highway at Hartley Bay Rd and stays on the west side of the highway and continues across the French River Bridge.

The culverts north of Hartley Bay will be the trail crossing beneath the new highway. Aecom are telling us the winter of 2022 will be using the culverts north of Hartley Bay Road.

  3. This insurance issue seems to be snow balling. CP rail here in Sudbury, Midland made the news, District 9 with the Grand River Conservation Authority, now the OPG.

I'm sure we aren't going to here the end of this. It's just puts more of a work load on club volunteers trying to sort out this crap which some of us don't want to deal with.

I like to know what the OFSC is doing, they seemed to be pretty quite on this whole issue.

Thought I would revisit this thread and add to it that there are problems with Grand River Conservation Authority  ( GRCA ) in our area.  I have heard it's on Face Book that trails are not going to be allowed on their areas.  It's about insurance that needs to be in place all year from what I understand. Sort of the problem this thread is about ? Don't know much else........but.... don't we have an MTO permit..... and doesn't the OFSC have sort of an agreement with the MTO........ and isn't that the government........so what gives ????

Sounds similar to our issue with CP. OFSC insurance is changing the wording so that insurance only covers the snowmobile season. This all came to head with the insurance people due an ATV accident on a club trail rail crossing.

  5. Here in the French River we lost a section of C trail due to insurance. The C trail runs parallel to the railway on CP property, doesn't cross the tracks and there is brush between the railway and trail.

It all started with CP Rail asking for an insurance certificate, StoneRidge won't provide until they see the MOR (Memorandum of Understanding).  It turns out the original MOR of understanding dates back to 1998.

StoneRidge is reviewing all MOR and there is a revised OFSC MOR that was issued this year to be used.

Anyhow long story short, with the new wording of the MOR CP Rail what's no part of it.

We lost a section of trail, I wondering how many other clubs are experiencing the same issue with CP. I haven't heard of any issues with CN.

If the railway guys decide to close rail crossings in the bush because of liability insurance then I think a lot trails in Ontario are in jeopardy.

  6. As of this moment I'm assuming the C trail through the construction area between Hartley Bay Rd and hwy 522 will be similar to last season. Until we meet with Aecom and the MTO in late November will we know for sure.

Working on opening up the C trail from C105D down to the Key River for gas. This is important gas stop when going south and east towards Port Loring.

The MTO screwed us last season, now the club has to fix it at there expense.
