I guess the idea of a Gumby reboot including the Pesky Indians wouldn't go too well nowadays.

X2 LOL Several years ago a classmate who moved to northern Ontario and was a truck driver. He was passing thru the Buffalo area w/ a trainee when they came upon a residential fire. I guess he told the trainee who had lived in the north his entire life that he could stroke that off his bucket list, seeing a fire in Buffalo. The guy didn't understand, so he had to explain to him about growing up watching the Channel 7 news and every night had a story about a fire.

I'm going to be there early on Fri'. Off to the Niagara Frontier (Irv Wienstein's side of "The Ditch") for the weekend.

Britt Inn in Britt has closed. The owner has retired.

Bumped into an old SW member @ Rock of Ages a couple of years ago. "Crazy B" thought I looked familiar. LOL Before that we ran into a "redhat" @ Laurentian Lodge north of Elliot Lake back in '06.

Any seconds for a long sleeve shirt? A large OC logo on the front w/ the sponsors on the back? We had some hoodies made up for the '05 Snowmobile World ride in Cochrane. I think MikeD was behind the Equipment Express sponsorship.

The restaurant @ Ox Narrows has reopened & a patio/deck has been added. They are awaiting their liquor licence.

Drove by the motel & restaurant in July. Looks like they did a good job on the renos.

Thanks, my buddy who does a dedicated run out of North Bay to Timmins & Iroquois Falls said the motel @ Tarzwell had been under renovation a while back. When I was past it in 2012, it looked beyond repair. Good luck to both of them.

If anyone can verify one way or the other, the status of any of the listed businesses, it would be greatly appreciated.

no one is paying any taxes on any of the sites. the big bird closed due to not paying taxes. Ski If that's the case, I'm surprised the municipality hasn't torn the buildings down. With an apparent glut of rooms in town (why else haven't they reopened?), I can't see why they haven't been torn down, especially the Big Bird. It doesn't present a good image. Reminds me of the Michigan Central train station in Detroit. 'Ski and anyone else that has crossed the Ambassador Bridge will know the building.

Mo of the Northern Lights sent me these pics back in 2008. I didn't see the Wild Goose on my trip last month, but it's surprising the other 3 are still standing (vandalism, arson). Maybe the stripper w/ the million bucks could buy them to hide her money from the IRS. Mind you the CBSA agents ask if you're bringing large amounts of money across the border. Big Bird Inn Like I mentioned in the other thread this place is downtown on Hwy 101. Looking @ one of the very inaccurate accommodation websites, the owner's name is listed as Mr. Jay Patel. At one time it was known as the Mel-ere Motor Hotel Pinewood Motel Superior North Motel Motel is quite large. It and the Pinewood (both just south of the Hwy 17/101 jct) are pretty rough on the outside. You have to wonder how often some of these websites are updated: http://www.baysider.com/Business/Superior_North_Motel/Info/ Wild Goose Motel I wonder if the owners are still paying the taxes on them or if they've defaulted on them? The Superior North shows up on a Google search for Wawa real estate.

Up to Eganville for the Bonnechere Cup snowmobile races. The Inn is closed. Looks like the parking lot hasn't been plowed all winter.
