  1. OK.  That is my only suggestion as I am leaning toward a lighter boot rather than what you are after.  Not criticizing, just different strokes.  Good luck with your search and let us know what you find as I don't doubt that others may be looking for something similar.

  2. My son ice fishes and he purchased a pair of ex military style boots commonly called 'mickey mouse' boots.  He picked them up at Novi a couple of years ago and loves them.  They appear to be a heavy 'rubber' boot with little to no insulation, but are designed for other layers for warmth.

lol. just got email it was shipped...………………………………...

Just got the same email for each of my two permits.  At AGM, they were touting that the new fulfillment house would be able to process things much quicker.  My permits were both ordered October 1, yet it took two weeks to get sent out.  If they are two weeks behind off the bat, when do they get caught up????  In February?

I tried to order my permit yesterday, and again this morning at 7.54 a.m., but I couldn,t get passed the area that has you acknowledge the 4 different things by putting a checkmark in each box. The program just stalls there, and does not bring me to the next, next. Anyone else having this problem ?

You have to scroll down to the next checkbox and then at the end there is a finally an accept or some such thing.

    Congratulations, Bill, Jennifer and family.

Port Sydney's the first area we 'staged' from - years ago. Pine Lodge, Charlie. Great memories, including Pump and Barrel. Wonderful trails.

Look forward to visiting the area again, and as mentioned, last minute opportunities to purchase may be helpful. 2 stroke Arctic cat oil? Even the "Oh heck, where's the balaclava?  Wife's releasing her inner Mactier, black balaclava 'omitted' from the wash, pink will have to doo".

I thought it was 'salmon' :poke2:  :wavey:

I don't get the mentality either. My mom's boyfriend called me yesterday to say he got a sled trailer as the local trails are gone around him until lake simcoe is safe. I said get your trail pass before Nov 1st to get the discount, he says he's not going to bother since I haven't been checked in years. He was shocked when I told him I don't ride with free loaders:huh:

Good for you, and thank you!!!

I don't have my vin yet on my new sled .What would be the best way to acquire my permit without hassle?

Purchase a gift card.  Apparently, that locks in the price and the actual permit can be purchased later.  Verify with OFSC to be sure.

There was a connection between permit prices and annual sales. Prices rose, permit sales fell.

I spoke to this at AGM, years ago. We had some awful winters (southern Ontario) in the ensuing years and I was thankful that prices were in the $190 range.

During the ensuing years, I kept asking: a) non permitted sledders (riders stopped at trail, on ofsc trail, without a permit) and b) non sledders (i.e taxi driver in a northern town) what they thought permit cost. Standard answer - $400.

We kept permit prices low, and kept riders 'in the game'. But somehow the message about the 'low' permit cost didn't get out (imo).

Tread carefully as you proceed north of $200 (plus s & h)'; realize that Ontario riders pay insurance on top of this (unlike quebec's $330 permit that includes $1 million liability and $2 million for club). Would any of us on this forum bail over a $240 permit. NO. Not for one sled. But if we were keeping 2 or 3, for occasional family ride...yes. You might add it up. What's your tipping point?

Get the message out re: the bargain Ontario sledding is, from permit price perspective.

I understand your point, but permit sales have been declining over the last few years while daily permits have skyrocketed.  This year, the free weekend is cancelled and we are hoping the sales will increase.  However, $190 permit is no longer financially feasible and must go up.  Also, you must realize that the insurance in the Quebec permit is only for Quebec residents and Quebec liability claims are severely restricted in their settlements.

Thank you for the additional information. Is the same process going to be used for 2021 and beyond permit pricing?

AFAIK, yes.  I can't remember exactly, but, if the sales for 2020 exceed 2019 by >5% then the price will rise to $220 for October pricing next year.  All other levels will rise accordingly.

  10. You have misunderstood.  In 2018, at the AGM, the OFSC approved permit prices for 2020.  In 2018, if the permit sales did not increase 5% in 2019, the price for 2020 would remain the same.  If the 2019 sales did increase by 5% or more, the price would increase.  This allowed the OFSC to use the remainder of 2018 and most of 2019 to get MTO approval for the 2020 pricing.  We used to approve the permit prices at AGM for the upcoming season, but there were cases where the MTO refused to increase the prices in that short a term, so now we are approving based upon a full year of negotiations.

So i am seeing that the pricing is the same as its been for a few seasons now, right?. So does this mean we found the sweet spot for pricing?, or are we afraid of increasing it?. Etc etc.. i am fine with the trail pass price, and will be totally ok with a price increase.  I am just wondering what the thoughts are?.

The process for the last few years has been to provide prices to MTO for approval based upon permit sales the previous year.  Sales last year did not exceed the 5% increase required to increase the prices.  The matrix provided for next year will still hold the price if there is not a 5% increase in sales.  If there is a 5% increase, the price is supposed to jump $25 according to what was passed at AGM.

It was a real pleasure for hubby and I to meet Nunz and Sledjunk at AGM.

The feeling was certainly mutual!  Hope you are still in Kap this winter.  Not sure when you are moving.

There will be 16 of us as Go Snowmobiling Promoters, sharing pics and live feeds this coming winter. No sponsorships or paid product promoting. Nice and simple they are trying to put the fun back and share the experience.  For that I’m excited to be part of it. As far as the comment about fixing my reports in the past if you are implying something I’d appreciate you either explain or Pm me.

Congrat's Nunz.  BTW, I think what slomo was implying was that the previous report author only reported the good points about the the products or areas, and he is hoping that the new group will show the good and the bad of areas.
