TWN says it’s minus 25 and feels like minus 31 this morning in Cochrane, and it will warm up to plus one at 4:00pm.
Thats CRAZY swing.

700 is a lot.. That's not going to move unless it's 3-5K off and I doubt they can do that. Add in the new sleds they have to buy for the fall and it could get interesting.. Some dealer may not have the cash on hand to be able to buy their allotment for this year.
From what a few posted each dealer is expected to buy X amount of sleds.

2-stroke
Been Summarized, so oil injected.

So it really looks like I won't get on the sled at all this year. What should I do in terms of storage? I don't think we will even have a dusting of snow at our cottage come march break so should I start it and let it get to operating temp, and then just put back into storage? Or just leave it as is?
Never had to do this so wondering what best approach is?

Up to +12 in Mississauga on Friday and Sunny. This is really bizarre,.
+6 in Cochrane. I can't remember the last time it was that warm up there in February.

Suns out.. If temps stay above freezing a lot of damage is going to be done. Sun will kill anything thats open. I imagine most roads are pretty bare already.

Ya long range up to mid Feb does not look promising. I think the new sleds are launching in 2-3 weeks as well (2025s) will be interesting how the weather affects spring check orders.

Isn’t 5-6” pretty thin? Not sure I would be on that with multiple sleds

Pouring rain in Kawarthas.. By the looks of the camera we have lost about half the snow we had as of this morning and its still raining.

South is above zero for next 14 days. Crazy end of January. Hopefully the rain leaves enough base in most areas.

Thats the first loop thats open LOL

Not where it matters in cottage country and north.
Parry sound is showing rain on Tuesday / Wednesday but North of that snow hopefully the snow line moves more south.
100 rain in the city

I am not trying to be "Negative Ned" but we are 3-4 WEEKS away at a min from riding in Cochrane by the looks of the 14 day forecast and well into Feb for anything south of North Bay. Water open everywhere and next to zero snow in the long range.
I am booked off from Jan 27-Feb 4 to go somewhere and I broke it to my guys that I am not driving to Mont Valin for sketchy trails. If I am driving 15hrs I will throw my Harley in the trailer and drive south and burn $15 of gas a day in my bike vs $200 in my sled.
south of north Bay February at earliest. Too much open water. I have a bad feeling we may only get a 2-3 week window of riding this year.
and that’s assuming we don’t get a January / February thaw. If that happens we may be in a bad spot.

We were up at the cottage , Magnetawan, and people were skating and ice fishing on the lake. Test holes show 7" of ice. absolutely no snow, but the entire lake was a skating rink.
Wow. My friends lake in Perry sound is wide open. Maybe some hope for the northern lakes.

My son was out fishing the other day. Normally sledding and skating on lake on new years. First time since we’ve owned up here have we not been Able to go on the lake. Crazy.

Good decision!
I still did the rink ,still got passes for the sleds, still got use each of them on an extremely limited basis.
All of it is a complete and utter waste of time and money - but getting those 2 rides and 3 skates - clears the mind a bit and makes it worth it.
Easy come easy go, can't take it with ya as they say
True..
I am at 3km this year on the sled.. One loop around cottage, and one loop with my son on the back. Almost no snow on the ground, lake is not safe.. Sigh..
Good news is sled started right up from storage.. Hoping to do a trip up north in a few weeks with my buddy, but that will most likely be the one and only time.. First year in a long time I haven't been able to access trails from the cottage.

I have done the math on my rink for this year:
New liner:
2 Water truck loads of Water
1 broken stick
3 days of use
= $445.00 per skate lol
Ready to put this winter behind and move onto to the nicer weather.
I'm a winter guy, but if it's not going to be winter, then take the November all winter and shove it.
I didn't even set up our rink this year..
