  1. My son and I went out of Golden, BC about 5 years ago. I agree, total blast and unique experience. We went with a guide and state of the art avalanche safety equipment. The guide provided helpful avalanche safety training too. Rode to about 10,000'. Hard to catch your breath up there with all of the riding (and sometimes digging out) exertion!

  2. In Powassan, I parked with several others on the side of Pioneer Road at the corner of Kells Road and Pioneer Road where the A101D meets D. Quiet road so no issues.

I can imagine that Kearney area now open will be super busy this weekend!

  3. I realize it may not be conveniently local for everyone in the South, but if you're in the Muskoka area already, have a trailer and are itching to ride, I'd recommend the 1.5h drive to where the A101D and D meet in Powassan and start from there. Trails were good to excellent in that area on Saturday. Went east to Mattawa on A, then A112A west toward North Bay then A back down to A101D through Bonfield. 240km of mostly great conditions! Sorry, no pictures unfortunately. Not much traffic compared to what people were seeing in Whitney / Bancroft / etc. area.

  5. Thinking of starting near the A101D and D junction in Powassan area tomorrow and heading north on the open trails. Does anyone familiar with the area know where it might be best to stage for access to the open trails (such as A101D) in that area? Advice much appreciated!

  6. Are we getting more snow today in Muskoka? I see that some HGR trails are yellow, some red. I assume that the rockier, harder areas to fill in are the closed trails. Hopefully we get enough last minute snow to get things in good shape for this weekend. Last weekend was great with just enough new snow after the previous rain event. Thanks to the various groomer operators around Port Sydney, Dorset, Dwight, Sprucedale, Kearney, etc. for getting things into great shape then.
