    How much snow actually fell?

    Up-to-date Snow Depth Maps NOAA - https://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/nsa/
  2. Since The Weather Network seems to have given up on tracking snow depth levels, here is a link to US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center maps that shows Ontario as well https://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/nsa/ . Looks like lots of snow to the east of Georgian Bay. There is time series animation as well.

How bad did the weather hurt your area ??

Port Carling to Bala area just turned yellow, afternoon of January 16, 2018. Use to ride there, now Barrie area...hoping they turn yellow too.
  4. I haven't been out this year and spent $320 plus on 2 permits (one classic and the other before Nov 1). Family weekend is usually one of the weekends the trails are finally decent and I can get out. I usually only get out 3 weekends a year...maybe I should start doing the free weekend and then using 3 day passes rather than committing up front?
  5. As of February 10, trails are still showing as Yellow on OFSC trail guide around Port Carling, Bala and Bass Lake, so I assume the groomers are still down.
  6. I've been up to Port Carling twice this winter (2014) and have yet to see a freshly groomed trail. Was up this past weekend Jan 31 - Feb 2, 2014 and the trails were pretty rough. Tons of snow but saw the groomer at Port Carling Foodland with a broken track. I contacted the local club and they are waiting for parts and were shipped the wrong part once. The spare groomer is also down apparently. They should be doing something, even bed spring drags would help!
  7. This part of the trail is now open. Thankyou Brown family! Did a trip around Lake Muskoka on Feb 13, 110km in total. The trails needed some grooming. Gravenhurst area has a thin base with lots of brown showing on the trails. Trails were groomed on the night of Feb 13 in the MLSTA area, so they were good on the Sunday. On the Monday (Feb 15) they were pretty beat up as no grooming occurred on Sunday night. Where were the groomers?
  8. Well, I was up last weekend and as expected the 2km or so trail from the Hydro line southwest of Henshaw Lake to Foreman road is closed. The trail now goes on Henshaw Lake Road (Clearwater Shores Blvd) and then on Muskoka Road 118 I assume. I haven't tried it and will defintely not use the trail towards Port Carling. I feel bad for the businesses there; even Bracebridge will be affected. It used to be a good trip going around Lake Muskoka but too much road running now. Other than "Back off government", I'm not sure what the landowner's motivation is. I think the Port Carling community will suffer. The trails were pretty good (Jan 22-24) west of Henshaw Lake, but there was a washout in the gully west of Eveleigh Road. Trails were nice to Bala (breakfast at Hook & Ladder), but bumpier on the Bass Lake direction trail. Mactier trails were great!

    Trails opening this weekend

Hello, Is the trail section around Henshaw Lake open? It's on the Brown's property and is one of the best parts of the MLSTA system. I hope the trails hold up with this mild weather; going up there on Jan 22. Formula500
