Considering the recent history I think cat needs credit.  A lot of little things being implemented that all manufacturers should do.  EPS and premium gauges available on most models.  6” Dooley carbides and the arrowhead track available from the factory. Ice scratchers as standard equipment.  A professional release that was simple to understand.  Have never been a CAT guy, but I have to say they did everything they could here with this release.  Imagine buying a snowmobile that you didn’t have to drop an additional $2500 in accessories on.

Agreed, and we need the competition for the other manufacturers.

And they had the foresight to NOT put a start/stop feature on a snowmobile. I hate this feature so badly on my vehicles that I would not buy a sled with it. No way am I going to have to navigate the screen to shut it off every time I fired the thing up.

lol.  There is a lot of hate for that new feature from doo.  Will be interesting to see how it actually works and if it’s a feature you have to continually turn off.  Or if it’s one you can choose to use by going through a simple step or two without being an annoyance when you don’t want it.  Being able to talk at a trail side stop is kinda convenient.  The ace engines have been great for this simply because they are so quiet.

Another article on it.

https://snowgoer.com/product-showcase/new-600rr-e-tec-2027-ski-doo-makes-advancements-in-product-line/33917/#:~:text=Silent-Stop lets riders communicate, starts when brake is released.

From what I read it’s on in eco mode.  You have to hold the break while the machine is at a complete stop to make it work.  So if you pull into a stop and don’t hold the break your sled stays running.  If in sport mode you set it once (on or off) and then it stays that way.  So you can shut it off and forget it ever existed.  It’s a novel idea.  Real question is, is there a long term reliability issue from using it all the time or not.  RER has proven to be very reliable.  Does this work the same way saving fuel in the engine and timing the ignition to make it re-fire after a stop?  Or is the starter used for the starting?

I had the on/off feature turned off on my f150. The video i seen with the new lynx 600 it sounded like the starter. Not a fan of that idea. Shot start would be better suited to this imo. I get how it would be annoying in more populated areas but on trails that go for long stretches without stops i could maybe see it being more convenient than hitting the kill switch and start button again if just for a quick chat or when you get really spread out and you stop and wait to listen for an oncoming engine sound from behind ya. But really just give us a pull start back and put shot start as an option on all the 2 strokes.

Not ordering, going to take the wait and see approach, not sure how my time will look for next season, so until I can commit time to ride, not willing to commit to a new unit.

Have you had the chance to ride one at all?

No new sled for me.    My 26 still has 3 years of warranty left and I would make a pretty heavy wager that MY28 brings an all new chassis and engines from both BRP and Polaris.

Chances are I will make the jump to a 900R for my next sled.

If MY28 everything is new it probably won't be on the 4 Strokes    we always have to wait cause the 850 guys get everything first LOL

Yep the 850 is great but i really enjoy a 600 around here and the 4 year warranty is what i really wanted. Toying with a 900r X package but im just not ready to make the 4 stroke jump yet.

If you believe Snowtrax, they say it’s come from Doo for ‘28.

Im staying with my Mach for another year as well. I had planned to sell it before it hit 10k kms but it’s at 11k now so might as well ride it. Probably will need some money thrown at it for next season.

Im actually hoping Cat brings a turbo 4 stroke in a modified Catalyst chassis for 28.

I bought the family cottage from my parents over the winter and the list of things my wife says we "need" for it has chewed away at my new sled money probably for a year or 2.    Happy to have 4 years of warranty on my 26 850.

The nice thing about the 900Rs is that people have no issue buying a used one with 10,000kms on it.

you would like the 900. I don't find the weight an issue at all. I just dont like my machs setup

But i do know what you mean, no need for an 850 in the area.

I could get into a catalyst 4 stroke.

I've got quite a lot of seat time on the 900 turbos now and i like them. They are the perfect saddlebag trip sled. The power is amazing mid to top but it just doesnt hit as hard and instantly at the bottom like the 2 strokes do.

Needs setup. My Mach is clutched and hits hard.

Adding a power adder really improves that 2 stroke snap part you are after - gives you that 2-stroke feel hands down.

Ya, I get that and am just like you - it took a while of sitting on the fence to do it, but the difference is such an improvement, it’s what the 900T-R should have been from the factory.
