I knew it. We were going to cancel because of the winter storm warning. Glad we didn’t. Trails have been great.

The last time I was in Hornepayne (2020), we went to Cindy’s for lunch. I’m assuming she’s not in business anymore?

Having done HP regularly since just before your last visit, I can only say that the trail south of the highway towards HP is a great trail (some season logging affects it), and your missing a great ride.

The order of food as i remember it is: 1. Food and rooms in the building now long shutdown; 2. Hot dogs (or sandwiches) on a roller at the Esso station; 3. a 2nd floor of a house for food, across from the Esso station, 4 Cindy's snack bar; 4. Last year the place shutting down; Somewhere in there was the lodge.

I will always try and support the small clubs and towns, if I (we) can.

At one time I got our group of 6 to all identify the HP club for our trail permits, which pushed them over the OFSC 50 minimum to get OFSC funding (or something like that). That year, when we came into the Esso for fuel, the club president was there to meet us and thank us!

We will be in HP for lunch late Feb, and look forward to getting some food somewhere, and appreciate what the club and locals are doing to keep sledders coming through.

We are heading to Dub early next week providing the trail is opened, sounds like there may be options for lunch going through Hornepayne. We do enjoy our lunch breaks and a chance to warm up. We will be in the northern corridor all next week touring.

Yes I agree the trail south of the highway towards HP is one of my favourites. I took this picture on that trail in 2020. IMG_6341.thumb.jpeg.dcc6465555d276d5409184d8d60284b0.jpeg

Had lunch at Cindy’s on that day. IMG_6361.thumb.jpeg.f17f5fd088ba4e1be0223df28179cc63.jpeg

We stopped twice at Eat and Treats on a trip a couple weeks ago. Did they change their minds? Glad it was there.

I think it changed names, I think it is called the hungry bear now, and yes it is open 11a-7p 7days a week right now. Glad you were able to get food, and have a good trip. Ski

That makes sense. I don't remember seeing the name of the place when we stopped in. We stopped for gas and the kid at the gas station didn't know if there was food in town or not. The Eat and Treats place showed on our phone so we drove to it. So much snow everywhere if there was a sign it may have been hidden. Lady working there on the way up, and a guy on the way back. Kind of looked like they just opened as it looked like they had some new kitchen equipment still wrapped up in the lobby. Had an awesome trip. Haven't been up that way since covid. Hope to start coming back again every year.

The Hungry Bear should have been open. They are open 7 days a week now, 11-7. https://www.facebook.com/CindysHornepayne

They were open today, but had some staffing issues. One young lad running the whole show.  Apparently, they opened a little late, and had a group of sledders waiting at the door when he showed up.  He did a good job and got everyone fed.

I stayed at the Studio 6 in Hornepayne on Wednesday, the burger and pizza place is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.    We went to the Home Hardware and bought M&M meat pies from their freezer and cooked them in the room.   Breakfast was minimal, cereal, bread and strawberry jam, coffee and nothing else

Bought a Hornepayne Snowbear Beanie to support the club.
