The permit numbers have been sequencial for some time. I remember them starting at 5000 (or maybe 2000) one year then after that they started at 1 and I believe they have continued that way since. It make sense for easy calculation of numbers sold.

Does the primary clutch have a grease fitting? What do you grease on it? I'm asking because I'm going to be riding a Doo shortly as I have inheriting a Mach Z  There seems to be some controversy within my family about a 74 year old using launch control. Go figure! A learner fob has been mentioned.

LOL - careful with that launch control :)

So mine does not have that, so no experience with it, some stated the clutching with it was not ideal and change it (ramps and weights) for better performance.

As for servicing, no grease fitting, remove the rollers, clean, buy the grease fitting and grease, apply and reinstall.

Here is a video of it that is helpful, there are plenty out there though.

I think so too and agree - I just recall someone stating not the case this year in one of these threads, but I think he/she is incorrect!

Quite different than my Yamaha's. I spray clutches and rollers down every 700-900 km. with brake clean and ride on. I had a Yammi shop owner check the clutches at 12,000 km. and he said no need to touch them.

100% they are sequencial - what the starting # is - don't know - but there is no way they are ordered and printed in off in some random lottery style format - they're sequencial for sure.

Ya, these are not quite the same - you will see the difference before and after you clean and grease....rollers are full of needle bearings.

These new engines with all that extra power need some extra TLC..... lol

Or, just a way to collect some more $$$$

Yes skidoo clutches like some iso flex grease. Some use a thin shringe to put it in. I just blow them off every few rides and ride on. 8000 kms on machine and dealer did lube and clean clutches last year too.

You need to keep these clutches serviced.

I just had mine done again this year. My neighbour hadn’t done his in 2 years and he had to spend $1000 parts and labour. He’s at 9000 kms on a 22.

The snow and the price change combined most likely.

Permit numbers have nothing to do with the amount sold, they are sent out randomly at a specific run number. This is to combat counterfeit (mto) permits.

Its been indicated  that permit sales for the early bird, has been succesful.

Here is the infamous post about random permit numbers vs. consecutive suggesting the number of permits sold and the permit number as the date gets further and further along do not correlate!

However, interpretation of this might play a role...

Well I bought mine the first morning they were available in the first few minutes after sales opened at 8 AM. Out of 4 years the highest permit number that I received was 15.  The others if memory serves correctly were 8, 9 and 12. I guess they must have randemly started at number 1 or 2 at least four years in a row. LOL

Now look at the numbers and dates that have been reported this year since October1. The dates and permit numbers seem to be reasonably sequencial right up to and including the dates and numbers that Stoney posted earlier today. My bet would be they started at 1and were sequencial.

Do all the 2018 and newer Skidoo models have the type of clutch rollers that should be serviced yearly?

Strange when I was out riding today I ran across 2 guys stopped on the trail and the clutch side cover open on a 2 year old 850. The secondary clutch was stuck in a half engaged position and another guy who stopped and had the same sled said it was caused by seized rollers. The ramp faces seemed very rough on the seized secondary sled. He rode it about 2 km back to my place and left it there to go get his truck & trailer.

Sorry, I’m not overly familiar with the doo clutches but I think the pdrive has been out for a bit….when I bought mine, I made a point of knowing more about them.
I think many don’t realize the maintenance they need and eventually have to deal with the issues as a result of doing nothing.

Yep, I agree…sure seems the numbers shared of the permits people have bought numerically increase as the date moves further along.
have yet to see a permit number that is lower when bought at a later date.

Those guys have broken secondary rollers.    Generally caused by being rammy when going in and out of reverse.

The primary rollers should be lubed yearly with marine grease.

If I understand that issue with the secondary rollers is more common on the 2 strokes vs the 4 strokes?

I've put roughly 22000kms on my 2 stroke doo's over last 5 and not once had a clutch issue. One thing i do is im gentle going in and out of reverse and also when i come up on a slow roll stop as im getting back into the throttle i'll grab a bit of brake to catch the slack before it slams.

So what you are saying when you need to do a 3 point turn there is no bang, clunk, bang noises going on…😂
