Sksman Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Last year Polaris sent me a GoPro camera. After looking at box on shelf this weekend I finally opened it. I am an old guy who never thought about using one before Just curious as to wear you mount yours and can it be mounted on sled? I have a Mission full face helmet. Quote

We have one from years ago, the kids screwed around with it and had it on the sled, helmet and chest at different times. helmet was usually best view Quote
Sksman Posted September 15 Author Posted September 15 Zoos looks like a solid mount. Not sure yet an the whole idea. Quote
stoney Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Have not used mine in years, but had it on the helmet, usually left side so lower percentage of hitting branch’s, front bumper looking either ahead or back at rider, side of sled and rear bumper looking back. Quote

Never understood the hood mount facing the rider view - it's cool to see for about 10 seconds, then after that it's who cares. The scenery......that's what people want to see. 1 Quote

The benefit of the different views and when you create/edit your footage, you can mix it up with different views for either short periods or long period of the clip. I always liked the rear mount clip of the following sled coming up on you, the scenery from the back, etc... Variety is nice when putting the clip together. Quote
Gadgetman Posted October 3 Posted October 3 You can look at some of my videos from over the years, and then decide yourself if you want to capture the memory. I only put music to DUB5 Magpie river run. Video with the most (a whopping 269 views) is my Gaspse roll over end of the trip video, in which a severed my quad tendon on that roll-over. You can see a wide assortment of videos from our saddle bag trips over the years. I used a small helmet side mount camera, like a gopro back then. The company went under, so no software support. youtube look up apexltx56 Quote

grover_yyz Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I had original gopro many years ago and batteries would freeze up on the ride. Gave up on their product. Don't know if that issue has been resolved. Quote
andreyboater Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I used it regularly. It has two issues for long trip you start feel additional weight and result neck pain and second the battery dies after 5 min if lower -10C. So I made a tiny hole in case for charging cables to charge on demand Quote
stoney Posted October 12 Posted October 12 It’s been a while since I used mine but I don’t recall the battery issue, I had two batteries and for what I recorded for the day, they worked. maybe different models had weaker batteries or drew more power than other models. Quote
