Barrie, Orillia & Midland

I noticed this area never shut down this week, I’m sure the road runs will be brutal everywhere in Ontario right now, but has anyone been in this area throughout this week? We’re looking to ride Friday and definitely considering this area.

I will take a look at the trails on the east side of couchiching tonight and I’ll let you know their condition.

I was around Markdale a few weeks ago and there was a much "FRTT" as there was actual trails.     Brutal.

Yep, crazy amount of lost trail

We rode that area Friday and Saturday.  The C trail and rail line were in great shape.

 

As mentioned above any section follow road to trail will be bare asphalt or gravel.   We hit a number of sections that were pretty hard on carbide runners before the melt.

 

We started on the 304 and rode down 303 to C and cut across to B into Orillia and back up B105 to C to 307 to 303 to 304.
 

I am not sure I would jump at that route this weekend.

The trails look good on the east side of lake couchiching, but between the trails will be challenging.
The orillia weather forecast looks good for you this Friday, and I’m sure the trails will be groomed for the weekend.

The new snow will definitely help!

Trails are in good shape for Sno Voyageurs, however roads are bare at the moment. We will be addressing that with a little assistance with our groomers.

 

We were out lastnight when temps dropped.

 

We hope to upgrade trail Status by Saturday morning.

 

Snow being forecasted will help.

you guys have been killin it up there this season! 
 

unfortunately, with this snow moving in, they’ve moved it forward by about 5hrs on the hourly so I need to stay put for snow removal tomorrow.

it was showing it was going to start around 2-3pm and I thought I would be able to squeeze a ride in.

You guys always have great trails. It can't be easy to deal with all of the sled and other traffic that goes through the area.

Trails are well marked, signage is present and clear (which is an issue this season in lots of places), and a couple good well maintained parking areas too.

I rode from Orillia to Midland, looped around Penetang and back home on Friday.  Trails were great, road running was horrible but to be expected.

I'd say the only rough section of trail was on the railbed between Orillia and Coldwater

Are you still running the Titan?

I am not.  I sold it in the summer.  Couldn't justify having a brand new sled sitting in my trailer collecting dust.  I picked up a cheap 2013 nytro XTX in the fall.  I did put about 1200 km's on the Titan in the 2-3 winters I drove it and it wasn't that bad of a trail sled.  Very comfortable ride.  Just can't push it too hard through the tight and twisties for obvious reasons
