Puggz Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 Believe it or not, my wife and I are at Mt Valin, arrived saturday evening and its been snowing ever since. We went for a rip yesterday and the trails has a significant amount of fresh power and in the open areas the drifting was crazy with gusts up to 70+ km/hr. Buried my sled and needed 4 of us to get it out :(. Help was provided by a couple of guys from Guelph of all places and then a couple of young frenchman on mountain sleds also came to our rescue. One of the young frenchmen I met last year while having lunch at Onochiway. So funny! On a day where we saw less than 10 sleds all day. I was so deep I had called 911 for a rescue before my wife flagged down the guys from Guelph. Still snowing today so I think the groomers will remain parked until it subsides, I have friends showing up tomorrow night with hopes the trails are in good shape for thursday and friday. Finger's crossed and sincerest of thanks to the guys that saved our lives! 6 Quote

I know the feeling very well, we had to call 911 for help a few weeks ago when we got stuck way back in the Onatchiway trail system 1 Quote
Spiderman Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 Was a bit of a wild drive home last night. I started out wearing my sunglasses and not a cloud in the sky. By the time we hit Orillia - it was a full blown white out to just before Gasoline Alley. The amount of snow through Orillia area is astounding right now 1 Quote
95rxl650 Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 We asked for it. Good ol fashion winter. White out's suck after you count to 30 and still cant see past your wipers, especially on roads like hwy 11. I cant count the times this year I've had to stop and push snow off my windshield while trying to get to customers with no heat. Traction mats, 100'snatch strap, come along, shovel and a bucket of stove ash in the van. Good thing about fresh powder daily is there's always snow removal equipment of some sort going by if you need a tug. 1 Quote
signfan Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 Too much snow. No such thing. Glad to hear you guys are ok. What a difference from a year ago. Or even 45 days ago. 1 Quote
Steve F6 Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 Yes almost too much. Shovelled the roof for the second time this year today. I think i did it twice in 2019. Same season the honda blower had the hydrostat tranny fail. Just failed again after clearing around the house so we're keeping that theme going. Hoping its the belt but not likely. 4-5 years aint bad. The thing is a beast! 1 Quote
Strong Farmer Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 I say we have too much wind. If it would die down all be well. Lane way fills back in as fast as I can blow it out. 1 Quote
zoso Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 Taking three weeks off starting thursday. This snow is a blessing. Will be ridimg every day exept the 6th and 7th. Getting 2 implants done, not boobies, teeth. Lol. 2 8 Quote
95rxl650 Posted February 19, 2025 Posted February 19, 2025 Another foot or so in the last 24 hours. Took an hour to clean up 2 vehicles and no snow removal yet. I dont know how any plastics on our vehicles are still attached. The sidewalk plow leaves a mound as does the road plow. I got sick of trying to move the heavy shyte and just get a run at it for the last week. Quote

My driveway banks are 8' tall in spots. The blower can't shoot the snow over once I get close enough to it. Quote

Toyman Posted February 19, 2025 Posted February 19, 2025 I didn’t want to be the first to say “too much snow”, but now that it’s said, our local trails have been terrible this past week. Too soft and moguls instead of rocks on the trail. Have been waiting for some grooming action first so I can head back out for another four days starting tomorrow. I already have a sore neck, shoulders and back from shovelling and last week’s sled trip, so now hope for smooth trails ahead so I can recover and enjoy simultaneously. I’m definitely packing my shovel now though, hope I don’t need to use it! Quote
