Rosseau area/West Muskoka trails questions

Any area folks happen to know if they're making any progress on the trails around Rosseau/Humphrey area, specifically the 330/350? 

Heading to my buddies cottage on sucker lake next weekend (Feb 21-23, 2025) with a bunch of guys to hang, try ice fishing, and hopefully take my old sleds, if trails likely to open.

Everything currently looks disconnected, I'm presuming due to MOU issues and closed ATM, so not much in the way of options to connect to anything as it sits.

 

Secondly any local lake conditions reports for the area be it sucker lake or others? Assuming things decent this year with the consistent cold, but I have the proper respect/self preservation fear of going through ice, so do prefer staked ones and local knowledge and recent updates.

Hi Sneaks we'll need someone more local to chime in with a route across the big lakes to get ya to the trails to the south or west as i dont know them well enough but its worth it to bring the sleds for sure. The smaller lakes have generally slushed up under the snow but still safe underneath.

ok thanks, will still plan to bring. we may just putter around sucker if the 330/350 that's on the ITG doesn't open directly. The weekend is kind of thrown together, so no idea what people are actually wanting to do. Sounds like a few guys super into ice fishing, a few guys just want to eat/drink, so we'll see what shapes up.

 

If anyone else local has any more info, LMK thx!  Hope people enjoying the storms this winter, superbowl sunday did a 300km RIP and was probably the best conditions have had here in SWO in like 10Y.

Oh I see the 340 just got added back to the ITG, so the trails at least connect into something.  Still red ATM though. Wonder if they'll be available by the weekend.

Absenti landowners and poor contact info are a huge problem in getting the mou forms signed in cottage country. The dog sled runs are Saturday after that some of the trails will likely be good to go

Had a great time on the weekend. Saturday ran the cottage road a bit, and took a buddy there out for a quick trip down the road to find the boat launch onto the lake. Everything looked fine, with a few tracks but didn't end up going on the lake since I didn't know it/not a staked lake, and the primary purposes wasn't sledding.  We did try some ice fishing at the cottage, but no bites (wasn't expecting to, it was more drill a couple holes to see/say we did it and then have a few beers for an hour while doing it) and ended up seeing 4-5 sleds on various parts of the lake confirming my expectation it was fine.  Anyway as you mentioned Wild Bill, the local trail did open Sunday (330/340/350) so was able to take a quick solo rip for an hour, and then after everyone else took off, we cleaned up the cottage, my buddy and I ripped from rosseau to Memories of Muskoka for dinner and then back on mint trails. He had so much fun, when weather turns cold again, he wants to go out again, and he was like, great now I have to get some sleds for the cottage...LOL  

 

Now went for a different kind of ride Sunday night on the way home....there was a some misting was unaware that had happened that laid down a thin layer of water that turned to black ice, and the salters hadn't been out, so right when we turned onto the main road, I fortunately wasn't' going fast or anything, but ended up sliding back and forth, actually gaining speed down a hill with brakes fully on with my trailer at one point ahead of the vehicle, eventually ping ponging off the snowbanks. Was lucky and happy no cars were on that section at the time or could have been real bad, and the snowbanks helped stop us and get back under control, but did bash corner of my trailer against the rear panel that will have to bang out, but no major mechanical damage to vehicle, trailer or sleds, just a flesh wound. 😅  Needless to say, after that adrenaline shot, had no worries about needing any caffeine injections or anything for the drive home.... 😂

 

Anyway thanks for the info, hopefully this warm up is brief and doesn't ruin too many trails and we get the snow forecast later in the week to freshen things back up and open up for some more riding.
