Yesterday had a nice relaxing ride from Amos (after some Polaris oil pick up!) to le post in la sarre for lunch with some friends - then nice ride back down to Rouyn Noranda to quality inn. Great half price wings Thursday night at La cage ! 350 km for the day.

 

this am we got out out early , just before 7 am back to the truck in new Liskeard. Quick 160km with no real stopping. Back in new Liskeard 9:45am - only saw two sleds all morning .

 

can’t wait till March break - as think I may do same tour with my 17 year old.

There is a small Red section on 309   I have never ridden that trail   Is that a hydro dam ?   We can get to ValDor using 309 ?

No issues on that trail, did it last Tuesday, from Temiscaming to Val d'Or.  I believe that's where the 2 clubs meet.

I am heading back to that area on Thursday for a long weekend.     It may be my last ride of the year.

Not there 4 nights LoL. But when we are in the truck for 2 days as I say let's ride more than 3 days.  That's why some of us bought into a QC seasonal pass.

It seems La Pourvoirie is a good spot around Val-d’Or that I’ve heard mentioned a few times this year for a good spot to stay.

Nope.   I stayed there a few weeks ago for a night.     The rooms were really nice but the restaurant's service was bad and the food wasnt much better.    

 

$25 for a crappy breakfast buffet?    Hard pass from this guy.   

 

We are in that area next weekend but wont be staying in Val Dor at all.

A few friends were in Quebec this past week, they said groomer issues and snows had the trails pretty rough. I was directly told 70% of their ridden trails were not good grooming and smooth wise. Ski

What area were they in? With 30,000 km. of trail in the province it can make quite a difference where you are.

Here are few reports that I read about conditions in QC that was posted in the last week on DooTalk that talk about some rough areas and good areas.

Just like here, they groom on a schedule, we have talked to camps that also groom and they have stated to us that they groom on certain days of each week, etc.....so, if you are riding the day before they groom, you might have bumpy trails based on traffic, ride the day after they groom, and you will be very happy - such is life when sledding!

For us, we have not come across a lot of bad trails there compared to the amount of good trails - maybe been lucky.

1. I am almost at Gaspe on my solo adventure. I tell you these Quebec trails are now what they are cracked up to be. The south shore has stupendous scenery but the trail conditions are absolutely horrendous. It took me 9.5 hours to do 300 km on trail #5 today and I was going as fast as I could without my sled falling apart
2. I was in the Lac St Jean / Mauricie regions, same… rough trails. I was told that they have many grooming equipment broken.
   I guess like every where else, shortage of manpower for maintenance/ repairs and operators

 

1. Made it around the Gaspe. Dropped the sled off at the dealer in Matane for overnight service after 2600 km. Taking the ferry from Matane to Baie Comesu tomorrow at 2pm. Trails were fantastic today

In the north of Quebec. Clova, La Tuque, around Lac St jean. They were there 10 days. Groomer issues, weather, and traffic, were said to be the reason. Ski

Gaspe has been pounded with snow in the last 2 weeks.     Not surprised that the trails arent perfect.

Yep, so much that they were red a week before last!

I normally check the interactive map to see when the trail has been groomed. It's a great tool to use when riding Quebec.

Great when you not have a fixed window to ride - not so good when you have a planned saddle bag trip booked a month or two ahead.
