New Cat Owner / Updates ?!?!

Lets try this again, and hopefully an important sled related topic stays in the Sled section of this forum where it belongs.....

So it appears a Cat dealer has just become a CF Moto dealer....might be a coincidence, who knows.

CF Moto is sponsoring a Sled event now....never have in the past from my understanding.

Or maybe, Cat is still on the table for possible future buyer to consider.....

Regardless, would be great to see it be bought as many has said and the tradition continues....for the sake of all who bought or own Cats, sooner vs. later would be great!

I'm no CAT guy, but agree 100%.  The sport needs them.  Competition drives innovation and keeps everyone honest.  If cf moto got in and drove prices down some that wouldn't be a bad thing.

This is promising! I'm sure Textron would like to sell rather than just shut down. The new sled design (Intellectual property) will most certainly have value. Then there's materials, tooling, etc etc.  One question - has Yamaha quit building the 4 strokes for sleds? If not, it would be pretty easy for another company to come in and start producing.

CF Moto makes a lot of sense to buy Cat for a couple of reasons.

1.   Their US Head Office is already in MN.

2.   They need the production facilities in TRF more than they need "Arctic Cat".

I could see CF buying Cat, killing the Cat ATV name altogether and using the plant to build CF Moto units in the USA to get around any potential Trump tariffs and to just gain some credibility as a NA built unit (not Chinese).    The only Cat product that has any value is the sled division.   The rest of it could go away and no one would care.

As far as Yamaha is concerned, the deal to supply 998s is done.   There would not have been a 2026 Thundercat with a 998 Yamaha in it.    Thats not to say it would not have a Weber 1100 triple that was built in St Cloud.    😃

Not 100% sure, but I thought it was either 2025 or 2026 MY they stopped making engines.

I'm a diehard Polaris guy that happens to be riding a Cat :) - but they need to stay for the sake of snowmobiling.

We don't need a new brand/Tesla type of market entry.

We need the legends to stay in it.

You scared me with that title Stoney. I thought you scooped up a cheap 858 and worth looking for the fixes…..😁

Id love to see Arctic Cat stay in the market. I’ve talked to a couple Catalist riders and they say the sleds are a winner. Feels super light and nimble.
Unfortunately, with Textron announcing the closure. Even with a buy out, it will be a tough road to bring back consumer confidence.
Somebody smarter than me can probably figure that out.

Lol, nope…I’m still very much liking my doo, especially being a 4 stroke.
adding a few new things this year to it as well.

I am hopeful that Cat sticks around, but we’ll see what the future holds.

I had an early model Jag Z1 with the big twin 4stroke. Sounded like a tractor and rode like a Caddy but it never let me down. Also had a ZR7000 Yammycat. Ran like a champ but wore me out. Both were gas and ride sleds. Reliable.

As a arctic cat owner since I was in my teens wow over 40 years + the only other brand I owned was a polaris .

I  have a brand new catalyst from last year that I  never had a chance to ride. I  am hoping cat finds a buyer and keeps the tradition moving forward.

agreed. I hope that a North American Company buys it though. The sport needs more than two manufacturers and Im betting neither are making a dime right now

Hopefully Argo which is doing well, increasing their market share, already employs a bunch of ex key Arctic Cat people and is based in Minnesota as well would be ideal to acquire them.

My only concern about Argo is if they are a large enough financially company to be able to buy it and operate it?     Cat is a lot bigger company sales # wise than Argo is.   If they do buy it, I wouldnt be surprised to see it as some type of partnership between a group of companies.

Argo has a USA facility  in TRF, Minnesota but I'm not sure they are based there. They started in Kitchener, Ont. then moved to New Hamburg, Ontario where they have 2 plants.  On their website under locations the first one shown is the Canadian one in New Hamburg.

I have a buddy who is very well connected within Arctic Cat and he just texted me and said that a deal in principle is done for a a Cat sale.    Its all in lawyers hands now.    Announcement will be made in the next few weeks.   He said he cant tell me (due to NDAs) who it is but its safe to say that its either Argo or CF.    He said they are trying their hardest to salvage MY26 sled production.

Me too, way too many connections and reasons for it not to make sense.

My gut tells me its Argo with a few investor/partners.

CF Moto just committed a pile of money into the KTM bail out.    I am not sure they are that cash flush to save both companies at this time?
