stoney Posted February 17, 2025 Posted February 17, 2025 Long range still looks good. I’d imagine this will carry though to the end of March or close to the end. 4 Quote

I guess the dude that is going to groom the b109/b110 is going to have a ton of work to do. Just came back from a run and got stuck on that trail there must of been a 7 foot high drift and we went on the low side and I ended up in the ditch! Not fun!! 2 Quote
Spiderman Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 Great riding last night and today. Could not have asked for a better 24 hours. 15 Quote

Looks like will try in the morning. Be safe out there everyone Cheers! You could head out High or spence street to Carlisle, go south to bruce road 3 and pick your way over to highway6. Any roads running north/south might be nasty until you get further inland. Depends how motivated you are. Winds are still westerly 30kms. Highway 21 seems like it's been closed for a month now. Thats about how long my grandaughter has been off school. lol Quote

Steve F6 Posted February 22, 2025 Posted February 22, 2025 Nice loop today, one get off close call on 67 but we got him out, no damage, he woulda made too it if he was cutting the corner like the 1000 riders before him. Ride your side and we can have 2 good lanes in the corners folks. Theres a short plowed section of 64 by Raven lake, not bad, but the whole piece of 64 above Kawagama is plowed to where it meets 65, major bummer, that was a really fun section👎 i highlighted those on the map. D101 from the asc shelter to 77 has rocks poking thru in the usual places and the base was really loose too like it cant get time to setup with the traffic. Lake stake lines are fine, no slush. The rest of the trails were minty! 8 Quote

scottyr Posted February 24, 2025 Posted February 24, 2025 Good thing we have the snow we do (did). I bet we lost a foot today with the warm temps and wind. I cant believe how fast the snow banks have dropped down since I went to work this am. Quote

At the road, the banks were a foot over my mailbox, today they are a foot an a half below the mailbox. Amazing how fast it goes. 4 Quote

Up north could be different though ( hopefully ) Trails will be good Roads will take a beating as usual Quote
Sledguy74 Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 It is amazing how fast it’s melting down here as mush as hate to see it go I’m glad it’s melting off the roof, social media showing some really bad roof collapse and one guy died by Creemore also this melt is better to prevent flooding 2 Quote

Cleared the snow from the side yard at my parents house to put a small trailer. The bucket on the tractor dug right in. Quote
yamadan700 Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 We did some staking and signage today across a few swamps. Finally the last trail!!..lol.. Had to use the auger to get through the ice to get the posts installed. So there's some frost under the snow here. We also had to use snowshoes to pack down the trail before we ran sleds through some of it. It was up to 3 feet or more if you stepped off the beaten path. Should be good for a bit. 1 1 Quote
Blackstar Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 I had to dig out my down spout lines (I have 4" PVC extensions running under my driveway and out on to the lawn) today as as they are frozen up the line. Under the snow, the lawn is completely frozen. I exposed it all, hoping the next couple of days will thaw the frost and let the water run, instead of going down my foundation like it is now. Quote
scottyr Posted February 26, 2025 Posted February 26, 2025 I am a Realtor and I was putting up some For Sale signs yesterday. I assumed that I would need a sledge hammer to pound the posts into the ground. The signs pushed quite easily into the ground with my foot standing on the frame. There is maybe 2-3 inches of frost in the ground around Stratford. Quote

Everytime I hit a near area with snowblower I would peel up dirt, grass since not frozen under un packed snow. Quote

signfan Posted February 27, 2025 Author Posted February 27, 2025 We have frost in Peterborough. Things froze hard hear before the snow came. We topped out at about 16" of snow. I'd say we still have a foot. Has melted down, but not crazy fast at all considering the week we're having. Trails should survive. Road running not so much. But there is snow in the forecast. 3 Quote
Ox Posted February 27, 2025 Posted February 27, 2025 So you have 4" of frost in the ground before it snows. Then you git 4' of snow. Before long, the frost starts to push up out of the ground as it is insulated from the cold. The more snow that you git, the less that it matters if it was froze prior or not, and the more likely that it is to have thawed over time anyhow. . Quote
