Tried getting over to the Dundalk area this morning, but got 20kms out of Kincardine and couldn't see 100 meters, with drifting coming across highway 9.    Got caught in a blizzard on the trails at night and could hardly find the markers, most of the time it was a guess.   Didn't want a repeat so I turned around.   Seeing your post it looks like a nice bright sunny day that way

lol, I know that night ride feeling all to well. I like riding at night but I have no cell and no gps and ride alone for the most part. White out conditions can disorienting.

It's been snowing pretty steady here since for the last 32 hours. A good foot+ has fallen. If you can believe the weather network things look promising. Snow every nearly hour of every day for the next 14 days.

Still no positive change to the ITG. Trail to Meaford closed.

Just starting to snow in Orillia.  Was reading on FB that Gravenhurst has about 70 cm's of fresh now

Snow stopped here in Owen Sound last night. We got a good dump for an hour before it  stopped.

One trail to Meaford closed and the other opened. Trail through the park opened that goes from east to west around OS but it doesnt go anywhere yet.

ITG around Owen Sound is starting to get caught up. I met up with groomers from 2 clubs today and for the first time this year I rode on snow vs snirt. I even got to do some ditch bangin going to visit my daughter and grandaughter :icon_dance-cpatch:

Things are looking up

Weather is looking great for all these trails opening in southern Ontario. Lots of cold through the end of the month.

Took a look on some looooonnnnng range forecasts.  Next day we get above 0* says Feb 26.

I've been on my farm for 20 years.  I can remember one Feb the temp never got above 0 the whole month, other than that, been a thaw at least a day or two every month.  This Jan we will likely be below 0 every day, started to drop New Years Eve here.  If we go all the way to Feb 26, that would set a new record for sure.

On the same note, makes snow removal easier now  I've gotten a snow pack to keep the blower from digging into the gravel, and without a freeze thaw, it hasn't turned to an ice layer that I need the scarifier blade for yet.

Yeah, the last few years it seems have all been to where you just get a pack-ice layer down, and then it thaws, and you have to start all over aggin.

We had a winter, I want to say 2017 or 2018 where not a day in February went above zero in Hamilton.

It was and remains a record.

Climbing above freezing over night tonight until Sat. afternoon. Overcast with a little wet snow. Just a little packing. Problem will be all the weekend traffic if it's enough to soften the pack. It's pretty thin.

Longer than that most likely was 2014. That's year 95 percent of Great Lakes froze over and I built a new single storey barn. We had to go in with bull dozer and plow off three  feet of snow third week of March so we could get started .

2014 was roughly my guess also.

Brother in law turned 50 that year.  March bday.

Went for first ride on new years day that year, and went for a ride the morning of his bday party.  Could have rode every day in between also.

Rode out to Giants tomb that winter to check out the ice caves.

That year we had about 12 weeks of open trails if I remember correctly. Hopefully we get some more snow tomorrow before cold moves in.

Had lunch today in Midland and was able to check out trail conditions from the road in a few places.  I see that area has gone green now.

C trail at the 301 looking North towards Wyevale.  (I rode this 4 hrs prior and it looked much better)

305 at Robert street west

Overall lots of snow but lots of melting going on also.  Any trails around Midland or Penetang were pretty brown especially around road crossings. Should be expected with mild temps and high traffic.  Lots of people out in that area riding today.  With the mild temps too bad the trails didn’t stay yellow for 48 hours more.  C trail looked okay going through Elmvale.

Problem solved glade I got blade. Don't realize how much snow is packed on lane way until you get a mild day and heavy truck 🤣. Cleaned it up with my new blade this morning. Then blew it away 😎. Right down to gravel now.
