I agree house insurance is awfully important when you need it. I remember someone had a bad experience on here, must have been you. Didn't Red have a good one with TD? Basement flood or something? This was way back, like 20 some years ago. They were good with me when my sled got stolen. I had a cheque in 30 days and they gave me more than what I thought it was worth. I think I paid $7800 plus tax for that '03 600 Doo. I put 8000 kms on it in 2 years and they gave me $6950. Quote

Sledguy74 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 My home insurance went up $300 to $1624, we renovated the basement this summer and replaced the main floor flooring so I updated our coverage this year Quote

I switched 15 years ago because they were half the price of what I was paying (Pilot or Aviva?). I still don't pay what I was paying the other company because TD lowered my rates by 15% last year and sent me a rebate. How could I switch? Most likely half the price for half the coverage. Price is only as good as the coverage. in 25 years, I don’t think I have gone to a claim where people were expecting to make one. you can opt out if you’re mortgage free. Quote

Do they figure that every Rural house has a hydrant in front of it? Check with your local FD, they may have accredidation for tanker supply that wil give you a discount ( essentially they show they can supply water as fast as a hydrant) Its kind of a crap shoot. They test the supply on a Sat, when the Volunteer FD are wating for the test to start. Should test on a Tues at 10 am, with no notice, and see if you can do it then. Quote

No, they don't figure anything Their underwriting is plug and play - nothing outside of the box When you have rural properties, various equipment, motorsports equipment, etc., etc. etc. - you need to get with a good broker who KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING, who will work with good companies WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. 2 Quote
stoney Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Received my paperwork/notification from TD for the next year and sled is status quo for another year. 1 Quote

I moved everything except the sled. When I tried to insure atv with them, they asked if I was using it on my farm (rural address) I said yes and right away they told me that's commercial use and they don't insure that. I guess if anyone using thier sled for a commercial purpose they won't cover insurance either 🤣. Quote
Spiderman Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Got mine yesterday, 388.80. Pretty much the same as last year. 2 Quote

That's what insurance is about. Covering the masses for an unsuspected loss. We had almost a million dollar fire in early 1990's. Three storey poultry barn went up. Had all new wiring fire department suspect somthing wasn't done right. Burned so hot since it was full of straw and empty at the time, they couldn't tell. Could also been a stone in straw gone thru our chopper and smoulder and caught fire overnight. Hard to say. We just finished chopping straw that evening and it burned just after midnight. 1 Quote
