signfan
Just curious if there is any news coming out of northern ontario about this upcoming season. Any chance halfway is re-opening? If not will the D trail remain open like other years? Has the new hotel opened in Hornepayne? Any other interesting changes occurring? 04nightfire
I'd also like to know how the north is doing with the LUP signings as well. Any major trails at risk?
1049
I talked to Patrick Dubreuilville Club President and Kirk Wawa club President on Sunday morning . Halfway is definitely not opening this year but D trail will be open weather permitting. Patrick is doing pretty well with the LUP signing but mostly crown land . Kirk said they still have lots to get signed yet . Both clubs are doing their best they each only have a handful active volunteers. We never discussed the Hornpayne motel opening it was just a short visit .
Ox
I missed the "LUP" thing. What's that? .

LUP is a permission form that grants snowmobilers access to private/public property. Also known as a MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU). The term LUP and MOU which means the same thing (i think) I believe LUP is Landowner Use Permission. The form protects OFSC, districts, riders and landowners from being sued or being liable if a situation was to occur. Without the signed form we are considered trespassing. For example.. we have permission to ride on a specific section of property and someone decides to ride off trail on said property and hurt themselves, the rider has a more difficult task of suing successfully. It's an important issue this year and the clubs are working on it.

Same thing one is regular language, one is legalese. Ski 1

PISTON LAKE CRUISER
From a Groomer Guy F/B post: "For the snowmobile friends that ride our area. The new Hornepayne Hotel will be open this winter. This awesome for those that like short days, stay in Dubreuilville at the Magpie Relay Motel then go to Hornepayne one night and then back the next day."
Canuck
Leave it to Luc - 'short day' , D'ville to Hornepayne (which it is). It's just that it's a great distance, but the old logging roads allow you to do it 'quickly'. We were once stuck in Hornepayne for 2 extra nights with a jack shaft bearing issue (Yamaha) and I can attest to how great those trails are. D'ville is awesome for it's own reasons.
1049
The Magpie is going to have more rooms available this winter also
Ox
Just so long as the hockey game isn't in town this weekend.... Back-in-the-day - Manitouwadge had 2 (TWO!) motels across the road from each other, and we got the last room available. Otherwise it was all hockey! .
