I would have thought that Royal would have sent out an email blast saying what their sale was this weekend?

This is true - I was talking to a buddy this past week who has not rode in 10+ years I’d say, back on a sled which is great and he was talking about rides in ON and still looking to do some trips he always wanted to do, I told him the landscape has changed a fair amount and wait for the trail system map to come online and have a look, but said haven’t done an Ontario saddle bag trip in a while, QC has been the go to destination.

Many districts opted out of Printed maps this year and attending with a booth.

Not surprised by this I guess.
is the printed map a club expense or OFSC expense?

Its been mentioned here a few times each year but the cost for a table/booth, setting up and taking down, you need to see a lot of sales to make it worth while I’m sure.

Paper maps costs were offset with advertising business sponsors. Hcsa printed maps this year (not sure if they had them at show or not, I didn't go)  They usually have a pretty strong sponsor ship from local business that support snowmobiling. Kind of nice to look at map and support business that support us. That's what I liked about paper maps đŸ‘Œ.

I found free paper maps in a trailside dispensary last year.

Ya, I know the local business sponsor them, or used too......just was not sure if that normally covered the entire cost and who made up the difference when the cost was not covered, I would assume the clubs vs. the OFSC office - with tougher times now more so than ever before for the system, this is one more thing that can be done without really.

I have not used a trail map in years now that I think about it, here or in QC.

Sounds like the show has set an all new standard for crappyness this weekend.

I didn't go, we had hockey friday night and all day saturday - decided to spend yesterday looking at car audio stuff and getting some outside work done.

I will give the show the benefit of the doubt though - I think it's more about the current state of the powersport industry than it is the "shows" fault.

A show is only as good as the vendors - the vendors depend on the industry ( and costs to them )

Everybody is looking to save a dollar these days - so it all goes hand in hand.

It's just a sign of the times and certainly is not limited to sleds.

In my previous life I was a motorcycle dealer and going to shows is so much work and costs so much money its really hard to justify going.     I totally get why shows are dieing a slow death these days.

It was the clubs years ago then went to District maps . In our area the clubs still sold map advertising on behalf of the district. Not sure if that is still how it works or not. Over the years I spent a lot of time through late October and November pouring over paper maps picking our trip routes and calculating mileage for fuel stops and daily totals and often used them for finding accomodations. For me it was part of the fun of sled trips.

The show needs to find a way to reduce the vendor booth costs.  It’s crazy what the space costs at the International center.

They need to find a new venue.  Even if they have to move a little further out.
