if the interest rate and interest paid over a set time is less than the interest I can make on the cash by putting it somewhere other than my sock drawer in the same time, I will make money on my cash instead.

That is based on having all the money you need to buy that toy and deciding where to best "invest" that money.

My scenario was a person that has partial of the money but wants to enjoy a certain activity, toy, etc......sooner vs later.....usually a person that is younger.

Either wait to have all you need or consider the borrowing approach that will cost you more with interest, but can get out of that bad debt if you needed too, or pay it off of course too in short order depending on life situations.

 

You could also get a special rate on interest for the first 12 months in past if I recall, not sure if that still exists or not, so take that, leave your money in other locations making more interest, than pay off 100% after 12 months.

 

I am a supporter of not financing toys, but I also understand that life is short and sometimes waiting is not what a person wants to do, just comes a cost - that cost of having fun as it was mentioned earlier.....lol

Having my money make money while sitting on my behind would be great. I just have no knowledge of investments that are safe and can make decent money. I know people who have made money in stocks, but they live in front of a screen. 

I do alright just flipping good deals that come along. Just this morning I recommended to a close friend that he cut out a section of floor and drop a 2 ton safe into his basement. He feels insecure about the amount of cash he has to hide. lol

I was very happy with the 2014 ZR7000 I rode last season. I cant remember what I paid, either 6 or 7 with pretty low kms and still in excellent condition. Great riding sled until I wanted get aggressive, then it wore me out after a couple hours. The only thing that bothered me about it was prolonged low snow conditions. It would get hot. Common for them, but still bothered me.

To get the good deals that come along you have to spend some screen time, cash on hand and ready to travel right away. I buy a trailer every year before I even start looking for a sled. My goal is to get my money back and then some, every purchase. Ride for free.  Of course it always includes some wrenching and detailing. It's gotta work good and look purdy for the next suitor. 👍

600 motor was very good in Polaris. 650 motor seems to be rock solid too. Either one I wouldn't be afraid of some miles. I figure these motors should live to at least 12.000 miles maybe more.  I have owned many Polaris over years with high miles. The last one was an 2007 Polaris 600 iq, carb sled. Gave it to my uncle at around 11,000 miles on clock. Never touched motor and my uncle still using it today and hasn't touched motor. 😎

I’ve worn a kidney belt as well for as long as I can remember. Was just natural to wear it for Motocross so felt the same for sledding. The odd day where I haven’t worn it….. not so good!

That's what I wasn't sure about.

I haven't looked at mine in a very long time - but the old school in me still always has Polaris and Cat ( analog ) gauges in miles given US built - and it drove me nuts back in the day to see advertised KM when they were only in miles back then lol

I've been keeping my eye on this one.  Has been for sale since before last winter I believe.  I need a 137 to 146 sled as I will be throwing a 2 up seat on it to take my young kids with me from time to time.

Make sure it has the updates, some had hot starting issues. I see the 4th wheel kit, good, nice bonus is the little pouch in front of the risers. Pretty deep and keeps your items warm. Look for antifreeze leaks. I had a couple that thankfully sealed up after a good heat cycle. I'd say it could be a decent sled. I sold my 129 at the end of the season and made money on it. I believe I sold it for just over 8k with similar mileage.

Plenty of grunt from 0-80mph. Barring anything majorly wrong, $5300 is a good deal compared to last years price. 

Check to see if it has the air pump for the shocks with it.

Right now you can finance a new sidewinder for 1% interest with 1 year warranty.  
 

It’s 2% over 5 years and 1% reduction in rate if you buy extra 2 years warranty.

 

minus .5% if you own a Yamaha product.

 

So $23,000 over 5 years at .5 to 1% interest.

They come at us from all angles wanting a piece of what we earn. I accept that I have to pay taxes on everything I buy new, but cmon. I paid tax to buy it and they want me to pay tax to sell it, and tax the buyer.

Then they tell companies they cant subcontract to anyone that doesnt carry wsib. Yet every year I get paid by the federal and provincial government for my services and carry no wsib. I guess the rules dont apply to them.

Sounds like someone is not doing their due diligence.....all people you hire are expected to have it, but not all will ask about it.

Typically in order to get paid, you need to show proof, if it was not asked as part of the start up process.

You used to be able to wrap your WSIB coverage around subs, but that changed and became a liability.

Honestly, I am not sure I would hire anyone to work for me without it or COI.....in case something happens to avoid coming back after me/the client.

I agree with you. I wouldnt hire a sub trade that didnt have it just for the liability. I have a few local companies that hire me regardless, but I have done work for them as long as they have been around. It's also infrequent. No real loss to me if they didnt. Most others get around it by simply recommending me as a hire to theyre customers. 

My government contracts are simple once a year late fall jobs that have been in place for 30 years or more. I just hand it to the wife to cover all the Xmas expenses. lol

I never put much thought into snowmobile reviews from snowtrax or similar reviewers. Early peeks are nice, but not without bias. 

However, when loyalists start to waver on their loyalty, it makes me wonder whats got their attention. So far, it appears to be the Arctic Cat Catalyst. Short of having actual seat time, I like everything I hear, read and watch about it. 

Anyone here have actual seat time? I dont care about top speed, just handling. I have naps on lake runs.. It's like a ski on glass lake. Just boring.

The sled overall looks great and like you, I find it an interesting sled.

Doo to me are the least exciting right now
