3 Old Guys ride to Alaska

Recommended Posts

If you have access to Facebook and haven't already, search for the above title for a very interesting read. These 3 retirement aged guys are riding new Arctic cats from Park Rapids, Minnesota to Fairbanks, Alaska. There are F/B posts for each day which detail what has happened and how far they got. Yesterday was day 26 and they are at Fort McPherson which is in the Northwest Territories.

I’ve been following this journey for a while now as well. Quite the trek for sure. The one gentleman, Rex Hibbert is brother to Kirk Hibbert, Tucker Hibbert’s uncle

No FB here, but searched and found it a great summary of the posts on an Arctic Cat website ( sled of choice  🙂)

Wow! spent the last hour reading about the trip and seeing the photos.

I originally heard about this trip and thought it was a trip with support crew and all the technology to go along with it. These guys did an amazing journey and did it camping in a tent and carrying all the supplies. I viewed google map from Slims Cabin to Southbend for example and there is nothing but wilderness. Their research on old trails and local history paid off well in their trip.

Does anyone know if there is a way to read it in order?

I scrolled all the way to the bottom of the page, and the bottom post says "Day 6".

So replies or whatnot have buggared the time table.

Anyone know how to navigate that any better?

I have to wait a bit on mine for some more to load when I get to the bottom of the page. I think it is because our internet is slow on weekends, mornings and evenings.

A fella that I have met from Hearst and a buddy of his made a run all the way up to Resolute back in the early 'naughts, but I haven't seen their page up in many years now. Too bad!

Thanks for posting the links Ox. I've only read the first one of the 3 guys riding Alaska to Maine on 550 Polaris which is a very well written story of the 6000 mile trip.

Guys from around home did something similar over several years a while back.  Started at the east coast ad rode home (Ontario).  Next year they rode to the BC border.  Then bought mountain seeds and headed up the Alaska highway to the Yukon.  Final year they did the top of the world highway ride.  Am quite impressed with the 3 old guys ride though.  They definitely took a more northern and remote route.

Cool.

I met four dudes in 99 on the trail near Timmins who had ridden up from Kentucky on sleds. I had never heard nor was aware there was any sledding taking place in Kentucky prior to that, but thats where they said they were from.
