ecarnell
Sons VR1 picked up today from dealer - mine is still MIA (850 XCR)……”January” ship date, if that means anything. I may have to take his Up north for a couple of days next week, as he can’t get school time off!

tricky
Good looking sled! I am neither a 2-stroke nor a Poo guy, but I had a ride on a 137 VR1 650 last winter and really liked it. Nice choice for the lad. Hope he appreciates and enjoys it.

Can’t wait for a first ride report on fuel efficiency of this new motor. Suppose to be steller compared to old 600 poo. Keep us updated thanks. ecarnell
All studded up (240 total). Driveshaft and jackshaft bearing seals picked off , crappy Polaris white grease cleaned and repacked with Red and Tacky. Snows a blowing tonight here (kincardine) - let’s just hope it stays on the ground! Played around with the awesome 7s display. I’m interested to see how the regular/premium fuel setting works out if we ever end up having no premium available. Nice not having to worry about bringing any octane booster.

ecarnell
Nice having a extra helping hand do at least 50% of the work! One drilling , other installing studs goes alot quicker! Sons now knows how (by doing and not by you tube!) to rip apart the hood/panels, install studs, remove belt and secondary clutch, remove jackshaft retainer, pick a bearing seal, grease gun with a needle, adjust track, install a linq bracket for gas can, more proficient in the 7s display than me already , ect….
brodhagenbullet
Would the bearings be made by Polaris?Thought they would be timken, ntn, koyo.Whats with red and tacky?

Definitely not a “Polaris” made bearing , but the original white grease has a history of being too minimal/thin and jackshaft bearings failures at 2,000 miles on these Polaris’s is very popular due to lack of Mtc. on this particular bearing (water gets in from inside tunnel). Years ago Polaris had a grease zert on this location, but not anymore ….. the red and tacky is a much thicker grease and stays “in place” a little better than the thin white stuff. 2

Are these the same bearings that are an issue on the cats? Also, what's the diff between the drive shaft and jack shaft? TIA< P

And all bearings have a variable life span. Drive shaft - Track shaft Jack shaft - Secondary clutch shaft
lastzrt
And nice VR 650! My son was at Elder's and was drooling over it!
Ox
I'm guessing that the reason for no zerk is b/c they now have a sealed bearing. If you pushed grease in from the other side, you would likely blow the seal off the track side. Where the older units likely had open bearings with a secondary seal inside that you COULD actually push grease through w/o hurting. Been quite some time since I've had one of those apart! Keep grease in it - and the bearings don't go bad. LOL! I've never used a needle gun.
