Tru Doh would likely spring for charging stations installed along the trails but he'd want to do Quebec first.

Charging infrastructure is going to be the issue for trail riders.  For guys going ice fishing these sleds probably really make sense.  Rentals operators they would work for too.  I pulled up an EV map and there is stage 2 chargers in many of the areas we ride.  In most towns they are installed at hotels / motels.  With that said stage 2 chargers aren't going to cut it.  Taiga's site says 3 hours to charge on a stage 2 charger.  Stage 3 is under 30 min which is getting close to acceptable.  Issue is most stage 3 chargers are owned by Tesla which will only charge Tesla's.  Those that are generic are few and far between.  Hwy 17 through ontario is the only decently covered hwy.

Interesting to see Taiga is hiring a charging infrastructure manager.  Looks like they are considering going down the same road as Tesla building their own charging network.

Did you see the electric ranger yet? It's nice

There was a Ranger EV available when I bought my 500 back in 2011.

How many ice fishers spend more than a thousand/fifteen hundred bucks on a sled?

True,  but those brand new Skandics and expeditions are selling in somewhere.

Every time I've been to Quebec saddle-bagging, I see lots of those on the trails (often couples touring) and doing utility duties at hotels and relais.

lol, everyone will find out how much noise the track really makes.

I wouldn't get to uptight about everything being electric, the infrastructure is not in place and it won't be by 2030 either. If GTA went to all electric right now the grid would come to a grinding halt. It is a pipe dream at best. What are they gonna doo? refine crude or natural gas to get the polyethylene off it and burn the rest off on the cracker? boy, that'll fix the carbon issue, lmfao

BINGO!

Look @ what happens when everyone has their AC cranked up? The greens want us to shut down nuclear in Ontario too. So if everything went electric that is internal combustion today, would the grid handle it? If Seabiscuit was still around, they'd likely propose to clear cut our Crown Land for solar farms...

Electric sleds.  I'll be done with the sport, if that ever takes over.

Come on.  You were quitting over covid too.  If they give you a 180 hp monster that is quicker off the line than the new mach z you'll be all over it.  Lol.

If and when the charging infrastructure is in place I'm all in.  Small scale nuclear needs to play a big role in transforming the power grid.  We need something to use up the spent fuel that already exists.  The future is coming.  We all have a choice.  Move forward or stick our heads in the sand.  My kids want to snowmobile.  Keep going the way we are and the Ohio weather we have in district 5 will make its way to district 15.  This tech can't come soon enough.  GM's on board, BRP too.  Lots more to come.

Eight electric sleds show up @ Tata Chika Pika (or some other remote location) and they have limited hydro & no dedicated charging stations, just the regular 110V duplex outlets. Will all 8 be charged up ready to go the next morning. How does cold temperatures affect charging?

Also in the big picture how much of the world's pollution is from snowmobiles?

Not to worry TD the lefty socialist snowflakes that think this would be ideal have no idea what draws the sane people to sledding. When the first electric powered airliner comes on board I doubt any of them will be on it.

While I think saving the planet and all is great,  let's not put the cart before the horse here.  Let's get cars and trucks electrified first, and the grid built to handle that,  which will be a very long time coming,  then if that all goes to plan, move to recreational products.  I can see it happening,  but to have the entire sport, gonna be a while imo.  Ontario freaks out on a hot muggy day in July or August for hydro, let alone all this added to the system.

I remember about 2005 we were looking at trying to add to our power feed to our data centre. York Mills and Don Mills area. Toronto Hydro told us it couldn't be done since the infrastructure in the area was already at capacity and there weren't any plans to upgrade the already very old components. Now imagine trying to add chargers for thousands of cars.

Fear not... it will be solar panel powered and can stay in the air forever... unless it gets cloudy
