Kind of off topic, but after reading posts elsewhere about needing extra gas to make it from Cochrane to the canyon :icon_doh:

I wondered if any of you have run out on the same stretch?

We've done it a few times over the years & never had any issues. Gassed up @ Base Camp & continued on.

It’s about 150Km from Cochrane to Base camp and about another 80km back down the other side to Smooth Rock Falls. We made it (barely) the whole 230km once on hard packed trails on 800 Etec’s cause we were carrying our gas cans as a backup but didn’t need them. Softer trails we would definitely need a bit more fuel to make the full loop. We always gas up at the top now regardless of the price just to support them anyways. Getting up either side on a tank should be no problem for most sleds.

@Mrs Turbo Doo was telling me about you having some fun with that. Those guys would have pooped themselves following us and @Evil....:rotflmao:

LOL

I'm pretty sure you can't do a return trip to Cochrane w/o filling up even @ the more 'moderate' speeds we ran up there.

I ran 230 km’s today in southern Ontario stopping every few km’s without filling up. Had 4 bars left when I got back to trailer. Trails are hard packed now. 300 km’s range is easy on hard pack snow on these 900’s.

Have not run out on that run to date......if your tank is full when you leave, I would find it hard to believe if someone did.

Now if you have one of those guys in the group  that thinks they are good, no need to fill, might have a different outcome......:headbang:

Snow cover may not be normal as usual years but OK along 11. Road west of Val Gagne looks ok for now.

Lots of rigs @ the Westward. A few @ the Thriftlodge. No sign of any @ the Chimo or No Adventure Inn.

Yup. Did the canyon a couple of times without stopping for fuel until Smooth Rock Falls. Again Boo on Skidoo for taking 4 litres out of the tank.

Weather took quite the change today -2 this morning in Kap before we left. Now @ 5 PM it's -17.

Snowed off & on & flat light. Not the greatest for picture taking but trails were in good shape. Did a couple of loops north of Hearst so not quite 260 klicks for the day.

Yesterday was a blustery, surprisingly cold day, considering that it was only -2 when we left Kap...but very windy, and nasty flat light making the odd bump (thankfully, there weren't many) very difficult to see. The loops north of Hearst were immaculately groomed, as always...only saw 3 or 4 sleds our entire time up there. Here's another pic at the trappers' cabin on L161, north of Mattice. Some of you might just recognize the couple on the left, standing with revrnd.PXL_20210227_170421205.thumb.jpg.abc9c5ba4fa1628c9ca91806eb83608e.jpg

What kind of saddle bag do you and the Mrs have......looks like soft bags vs. the usual hard LinQ bags that you see people use?

I was pondering buying the new 31L combo bag for my '21 Renegade XRS 900T,  but went with what ive been using for a while now. A Linq 19L bag, and our soft 40L Doo bags. Mrs. Turbo Doos current sled with our soft bag. Of course mine is a renny, and can fit the 17L bag on the ling clips, then i have the soft bag at the rear of the tunnel. My setup holds enough for our trips.  One thing i like about the soft bag, is you have the flexibility to somewhat over pack it..the last picture is of my 2020 Renny X 900T with the same setup i have on my '21 Renny XRS 900T and will have the same setup on both my and Mrs. Turbo Doos 2022 Rennys.

Headed that way tomorrow.

260 klicks today ride in falling snow from Mattice to Kap. Late start as rest' didn't open until 9. Trails not overly busy.

We ended up doing the Fushimi Loop (clockwise). Approaching snow fall had us concerned about visibility. Radar had the system nowhere near here, so we did the loop. After the loop, L169 & L159 to Hearst. Across L155 & TOP A to Kap. A bit early in town so dropped down L143 to the L123 and east. Met the groomer just west of the river.

Back to town on L137 & L139.

Day started out @-17, now -7.20210228_154705.thumb.jpg.81a67c1cf297dda368b7aed4b8cac87e.jpg
