C101D & TOP D from the Soo to Wawa & D'ville are not like the Corridor. TOP D follows a hydro cut for a long ways, but definitely not like near Mattice...

Was thinking about this subject as I went to sleep last night, and I agree in terms of northern trails.

But off to Kap this AM.

Have you rode in QC or North of Sud's, I assume you must have, but I am asking as there is more than big flat trails that I am sure you would have encountered.

There is a lot of flatter trails, but there is also plenty of rolling trails with bends & curves as well trails that run in and out of the bush.

The picture above could easily be mistaken for a trail in the Southern parts through the bush.....personally kind of reminds me of D101B just south of 76.

Not so much tight twisty narrow trails like in dist 7 & surrounding areas, but even dist 7 has some wider trails that were logged that are similar to the North, but just for shorter periods.

The second part that goes hand in hand with the Northern On or QC is the trip aspect, on your sled for 5 to 7 days with people you mostly enjoy spending time with....I say mostly as I know sometimes people can get funny on trips...... :poke2: ....but usually makes for some good laughs later on.

Like mentioned, it is really nice, for me at least, to ride some of the local'ish trails with the pluses that it brings, and some of the negatives too, as well the trails & atmosphere Northern ON & QC offers!

Yup been North and Quebec (albeit that was a shorter trip). Not my thing. Never been a mile chaser just so I can say I got 8000 km on this year. I much prefer a 150 km day where I need to work the sled on the trails. I did 1700 in Muskoka this year. Most of it I was tired sore by the end of the day (probably getting old).

Never liked big huge fast trails where there really is no technical riding. I like tight fast trails that I need to move around on just to keep a nice pace. I don't want a big heavy 4 stroke that is great for Northern fast trails Just so I can say I did 1000 miles an hour for 30 minutes. I like light 2 strokes that I can throw around when that trail gets bumpy and tight.  I suspect if I was younger I would be a flat brimmed long track trying to find powder and jump stuff kind of rider but those days have passed me by.

I have never like trailering and driving long distances to sled, Id rather ride than sit in a truck for 6-10 hours there and back. Its not worth it to me.

Where we are there is always snow and I can leave on a long trip every winter (depending on timing).  Im just as happy riding Muskoka, North Bay, Parry sound area and sitting down at my own place at the end of the day with people I sled with and Neighbours at the cottage.

To each his own and I'm not knocking anyone's preferences just stating my own.

Great four days of riding. We were on every trail west of Moonbeam to Hearst. Great to ride with WD and the crew again. The miles of smiles and laughs sure makes up for what went on at the Super8 in Kap. Great to meet up with all the fellow OC members.

Agree, each to his or her own, all contributes to the sport. That said, technical riding can be defined in many ways. Example, Day 2 of our 2014 Gaspe trip, coming down the mountain. I define that segment as very technical, because if you go over the right side, the chances of ever riding again are slim. (Not sure if the link will work - google Apexltx56 on youtube, 2014 Gaspe, Sucked into the Mountain.) Look at the drops on the right side of our ride down, which is why I hugged the left side, a bit too much in one spot.

Again ,each to his own, I agree with you entirely.

Cheers

Straight up the road from the LCBO in Moonbeam.  Best little restaurant in the area imo...Corner of Albert Street and Leonard Ave in Moonbeam.  Not what Google maps shows. The old building is what Google maps shows right on Hwy 11..

Re:leaf drew a line from the trail to the location too. I've been curious but never asked where it was. I had kind of watched the store fronts as I've driven thru over the years.

Easy to find. Basically before going over the tracks on the L123 after crossing hwy 11, you continue thru the empty lot parking,  and turn up the street before the LCBO.  Great food.

You can also access Damco Fuel in Moonbeam by running the local trail parallel hwy 11 and the tracks to damco fuels. Saves from having to run around the L123, then down the hydro line behind Moonbeam.

That's the route we were shown in reverse years ago when a couple from the clubhouse told us about L123.

I looked @ the trail when I was driving home & it looked like an MX track. Couldn't see it the day @irREVerent & I filled up, so I didn't bother venturing across it to the next road to the east (road crossing by the L123/L129 intersection).

Once you ride it once, it's a piece of cake. Just a short cut to know..

LMFAO.  :icon_steer:. It's OK @Evil. Some people will never get why we ride Quebec and the NCDN. And I am glad for that.  Stay home, more real estate for us to ride...

Totally agree. Haliburton is my happy place. Trails and lakes, fantastic mix, right from my house. Have a 4 place enclosed trailer that has only been used for storing lumber for the last 10 years.
