I've been asked to make a set of adapters to mount the 62L cargo box on a 'shorty' chassis.

If anyone is consider this box, I've taken a couple of pics showing it & my SR21 (21L) tunnel bag.20210208_201533.thumb.jpg.51d1b24bb5ffdb054aeeb1c8e25d679d.jpg

I have the big one. You can take everything you need in there and it isnt bad looking on the sled either. You can stack on top of it too.  Heads up, check the hinge pins, both mine fell out on first ride.

Do you put the kitchen sink in the big box?  Or strap it on top?  Lol.  Nice setup.

Never tried the kitchen sink but did have a grill in there.
I won’t get to know what can go in there, sold sled on the weekend and trailer today. Pinched nerve in my neck causing hands to be numb/ pins and needles

  • 1 month later...

The 'short bag' I had ordered came in this week.20210325_153551.thumb.jpg.09d7f6d5bbae2df4d9a72228eb709d76.jpg

To give you an idea of its capacity it will easily hold a box of 15 12 oz cans...

Borrowing a friend's small gas caddy to see how it fits. I've sorted out the stuff I carry so this bag will be OK down here.

I'll keep the SR21 bag for trips up north.

Just checking..

All these people who carry gas. Do you ever use it?

I found it always ended up getting poured into to summer toy?

Did the can on tour for a number of years and never needed or used it?

I could've used it a couple of times this winter doing day trips & wanting to avoid filling up on the trail.

Our longest tour was 12 days.

Never had a  fuel light come on.

But wifes like to pee and have a soup for lunch on big tours.

I'm sure they have there place.

During our Kap' trip I saw @ least 2 sleds w/ the oil caddy on them as well. I was never that concerned about oil when we were doing loops up there. Top up the oil reservoir before leaving & pack a couple of liters. A lot of gas stations had a pretty good selection of 2 stroke oil.

Is there much difference in capacity with the new bag compared to the SR21??

For daytripping I think the short bag is fine. On a XS chassis 'doo the SR21 needs a bit of modifying. I haven't tried installing it w/o the dual accessory bracket installed.

The smaller toilet bag holds my 'tool kit' and the bulkier 1 holds a first aid kit & some 'spares'.20210325_212630.thumb.jpg.9b70448b54bdd79f6d61c9b1c54a2d14.jpg

Still room for a pair of gloves, tuque or hat.

I think they have there place for remote riding as insurance.  That said the manufacturers spend all this money to make the sleds lighter.  Why add weight on the back bumper (worst place to add weight) for regular local riding.

How are you doing now. I hurt my leg foot last fall. Finally got my Ultrasound coming up this month. Booked it back in September, when I could barely walk.

I almost needed my 14 litres for the truck    was on fumes coming into NB. Fueled in Kap and thought I would be a bit better on fuel. But made it. And now dump it into the sleds for the summer storage

Notice that its the small can & not the larger stackable can. I have seen pics on DooTalk of those cans where the attachment points on the bottom have come apart. I know BRP shows pics of bags (including the SR21) on top of the can, but I'm not 1 to tempt fate.

There might not be a lot of stress on a flat trail, but I imagine a whooped out trail would cause the combination to start rocking fore & aft on the can's mounting 'plate'.
