Do you have more info on why they were fined?

Either there is more to the story or something does not add up......or fines being issued that should not be, not a huge surprise....

There seems to be a gray area for sure in all of this, for now......

Driving alone or in your bubble to ride a sled outdoors and no places to eat inside, really has very little risk and no reason not to allow it.....but we will see.

As for fines, we all know there will be fines issued, no doubt about that, we also know with the the past lock downs and now this one, the court system is already even more behind than they already were.

I suspect most people who might get fined will opt to fight in court, at least they should be IMO, which I have a hard time believing many of them will make it to court given the above - but that is just my initial thoughts on this.

Case and point is the vehicle stickers and the notice that was issued that people did not need to renew during these difficult times, but yet police still issued tickets due to lack of being kept informed, that unless you just paid the fine, that had no business being issued in the first place, would have ended up not needing to be paid.

I even thought there was something reported to the effect of a judge basically telling the police services to smarten up and not waste already precious time for the incidents that this surrounded this.

Hi Stoney,

i was told they were fined for not proper Social Distancing.  Being within 6 ft of each other without masks on.

it actually states "if you intend" not have to . So your not in quarantine.

The less than 24 hour visit must be accompanied by a reason stated on the order as being permissible as well but . The 14 day visit does  does not.

That being said the stay at home order is a regulation filed by an "order in council" so it in no way supercedes the Constitution and in reality has no teeth in a court battle. Likely why they set up the order to be as vague and open to "interpretation" as possible,

Just my 2 cents on the last part.

If you've ever been in court, anything "vague" or "grey" from the party who has the power to issue and/or create the document, say a contract, policy, etc. - always goes to the other parties favor.

While outdoors?

I thought I saw an update now that they were encouraging to wear masks outdoors, but not mandatory.

I am not sure what the bylaw is exactly for outdoor and social distancing or if it is something that can be enforced.

But visit many constructions sites and you will see lots of this though.

And this is for indoors of course.

Face Coverings
Every person in the premises of a business or organization that is open shall ensure that they wear a mask or face covering that covers their mouth, nose and chin, when they are in indoor
areas of the premises, with limited exemptions.

A women and her mother both fined in Delhi.  She dropped her kids off so she could get groceries without having to bring them into the store.  Neighbor called the cops when she saw the kids either entering or leaving their grandmother's house. Women actually thought she was being more safe in doing this than exposing her kids and strangers to each other in public. This is simply a sad day in Canada.

The do's and don'ts specifically say that this is allowed.

Just a word of caution on the first map shown in the above website. Don't just go by the colours shown on the map. The 6 colours are for the health regions or Districts. You need to magnify most of the regions to find the individual health units which are the ones the OFSC are talking about.

So Waterloo is ours plc? Can’t ride no where else in major health unit? That sucks if that is case. I figured straight north was fair game.

Waterloo region is our local health unit and where the OFSC is asking us to ride.

Ok thanks for that clarification. I thought it was whole health unit like many other riders. Now I see where hailburton forest is coming from.

Waterloo Region is a health unit within the Central West Health Region.

There is a lot of confusion regarding Health units.

This is kind of funny, the letter I wrote to my MPP the other day hits on many of the same points in this article.....

  • Long term effect of people's health & well being
  • Long term effects financially
  • Long term effects of our kids, the/our future, dealing with this nonsense
  • Coivd hospital numbers compared to the number of hospitals in his province should not cause them to be on the brink of destruction - just poor planning, management, forward thinking & execution
  • Doctors running the show in the back ground vs. the folks I elected based on looking at all the data in front of them
  • Focus on the biggest problem, the minority that are at greatest risk and that need protection
  •

Because it's factual - and takes a common sense approach.

Good for you for writing - you're making a difference in this.
