Wow - what a difference 45 hrs makes and riding in daylight the entire time!

slept in again.... had a good breakfast and then son and I headed out to the canyon loop 9:24am , home 3:12 pm 297 km.

trails were super smooth !

saw 2 hares and a BLACK WOLF! Picture doesn’t do justice , but we got really close on the sleds.

canyon damp not opened up much today compared to 2 days ago.

had pepperettes and granola bars on the trail - had a good snack when we got back

to the Chimo.

May head out this evening for another loop (trail south of cochrane opened up for a couple km I think).

Fantastic. Something you and your son will remember for a life time.

Bringing back memories for me. Took my son to Cochrane for March Break when he was 14. Stayed at Lillabelle Lake. We seen a Timber wolf on 144 on the way up along with a Bobcat. He had a great time playing with the dog at the motel.

Now he's 28 and won't move out of my basement.

Enjoy. Time flies.

How did I guess who posted this before looking at the name?

One day, maybe you will learn how to reply to a post w/o taking up so much room every time?

(Hint - you can highlight the pic and hit DELETE and then just quote the text. It is possible... [most] of the rest of us have mastered it by now)

Well day 4 of 4 in the books.

best day thus far for weather and trails and stories! (Son agreed it was the best day).

had a big breakfast of cereal and bagels once again then headed west.

Trailered to moonbeam again - on trail 10:30am back at truck 5:12pm.

313km for the day.

i think we did 85% of the trails open around Moombeam/Kap.

spent a fair bit of time playing in the powered on the power lines - both Ryerson’s and I got the 900 stuck once each. Got to use the new small shovel - worked really well (compared to hands!)

Had a trail side lunch of juice boxes , beef jerky and granola bars.

think son rode the 850 more than I did today!!!!!!!!

The bad:

L125 took a belt from me this afternoon.... 4700 on original belt so not complaining!

I caught it just in time before she fully exploded.

The good:

the new OFSC app worked well - when we mistakenly got onto Remi Lake - pulled it up and knew exactly where we were - and chose to run it it’s length. Lots of ice fishing going on!!! Previously I’d be looking on my GPS and comparing to a paper map to figure out where we were WRT trail.

Overall a wonderful start of the riding season.
talked to two groups of sleders on the trail today (from a distance) and that was are only interaction we people today!

heading back home early in the am :(

Looking good sir. Glad you guys are enjoying it thoroughly.  Hmmm, L125,  blown belt, sounds about right. I told you that trail is simply pure AWESOME.  :icon_steer::right_on:...

Remi lake can be interesting.  Good and bad. Ice huts are a good sign. We usually don't adventure far from stake lines.  Encountered a few wet spots one season when it was marked and green on the map. Glad you guys had no issues out there..

How's the Chimo?

Never seen the ice like that on the spillway walls like that before.

I think that's the on;y 'ice road I've been on. Had to rescue a sled that had quit (rewind ate the tether cord) on Anstruther Lake back in the 80s w/ my truck

25 yrs ago - we were riding in the U P eh?

Me and my chum were mentioning a certain siding where we had played the day before - to some of the locals that we were riding with this day, and they had no clue where we were talking aboot.

Well, riding out of Newberry - it's not like there are many options on which direction you head, so of course we rode past that spot 1/2 hr later, and we showed them that.

"Huh, I never seen that before. Must have always blown through here at WOT."

Kind of like the little cabin on the L123...

Well ... OK ... but the owner of that cabin would likely prefer that you blew past and didn't notice it in the firth place.

Rather than being concerned with winning bragging rights about how many km's I did in a day I prefer to actually see where I've been and the nature around me. Some of the favourites over the years have been the deer standing on their hind legs nibbling on the trees, the beaver that was about to cross the trail but then backed up as it saw us coming and the otters playing at the edge of the lake.

There's been many times when I have asked people... did you see _______ ? and they missed it because they were going too fast.
