The mutated virus was identified in the UK and they are locked down... they aren't leaving the country since they are banned from entering other countries... much like Americans are unwelcome in other countries.

Hey, if you want to believe this "mutated" virus is isolated in the UK, it's all good - my belief is by the time this was discovered, based on their media splashing of how much faster this one spreads, my money is on that it was and is everywhere else long before they "discovered" it,  people have been going in and out of every country all over the world for a long long time.

It's nothing new and nothing more than to "scare" people and keep them down, esp. during holiday season.

Move on!

At >125 million passengers in / out / and through London per year, and considering that there likely isn't nearly the intra-country air travel there like there is in Canada / USA, that's a lot of people going somewhere else all the time.

London is the trans Atlantic hub. North America to London and then connect to Europe Asia

They changed the definition of herd immunity.

Even though Parry Sound is well below the Sudbury cutoff line for 2/4 weeks. We are 2 weeks. Our health unit is North Bay,which is listed in the 2week zone. That's going to piss people off in Muskoka.

Based on precedent set by Charles II in 1670 granting Prince Rupert and other founders of the Hudson Bay Company exclusive rights to trade in all land included in the watershed area of Hudson Bay, I have discovered a small creek proximate to my property which terminates at the French River water system ...... as such,  2 weeks for me as well. (thanks fo the person who posted the Ontario crown land map) Should be some snow by then.

Could you clarify any? Media outlets still say anything south of Sudbury is 4 weeks.

Is there a map that shows Parry Sound Is 14 days?

I seen dub posted on Facebook that they can’t open D108A during lock down. Saying it leads to a different health unit. No way to get there from north then, until restrications are lifted. Wonder what other trails won’t have links during lock down phase..

I booked rooms in Cochrane on the 16th/17th weekend for me and my dad.   We are going to keep a pretty low profile and avoid interaction with other people as much as possible.   We will bring my portable BBQ and make our own dinner at least 1 night.    I will probably throw some lunch stuff in a cooler have sammiches on the trail if restaurants are too busy.    We are going to ride.   Not hang out in bars or anything like that.

I don't see how traveling from Mitchell to Cochrane meets the lock down rules for NOT traveling from area to area.  If you do this, then you are no better than the idiots in the GTA that go to each others houses and party etc.  Although your intentions are good, you are breaking the rules like it or not.  Locals in Cochrane could and should report you.

It is a little confusing based on this article with the link below

Based on this article which was published prior to the Monday announcement by the Ontario government

This is what I see

(1) All of Ontario will be in a lock down including  Cochrane so the trails should be closed for the 14 days in the north and 28 days in the south ?? Any one seen any info that states the trails will be closed until the 14 day period is over ???????

(2) After the 14 or 28 day lockdown is over then the "Connector" trails that go from Red or Orange area's  to green areas (health region wise) will be closed and not groomed.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/sudbury/snowmobiles-covid-19-pandemic-colour-zones-health-ofsc-1.5847775

Riders in orange and red zones urged not to use trails connecting into green and yellow zones

CBC News · Posted: Dec 21, 2020 5:00 AM ET | Last Updated: December 21

But the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) is hoping riders heed public health warnings about travel to different regions and has developed a plan to curb the spread of the coronavirus, especially from hotspots in the south to low-risk areas in the north.

The president of the OFSC, Sudbury's Murray Baker, says it's all being done in co-ordination with public health and based on their prinicples to keep people safe.

For instance, he says any trails in areas deemed locked down by the province, would not be groomed and will show as unavailable on the OFSC's interactive website.

As for areas classified as orange and red in the province's colour-coded pandemic framework, riders may have access in those regions only.

"So if you're in a red region or an orange region, you may be able to ride within that region," explains Baker. "But according to the connecting trails to other regions that may not be in a red or an orange restricted levels, we would be temporarily making them unavailable between them, where we're allowing people to ride within their local region, but not enabling them to go to areas where the more stringent regulations ask for essential travel only."

Baker knows it's a tough sell to tell snowmobilers not to go where the best snow may be.

"So we understand people may put them (snowmobiles) on a trailer and go around. They may trespass across and through those areas, no different than what goes on today," he says. "But we can't control that. All we can do is, is provide trails that allow people to ride and respect what's going on with yellow and green."

We have a trip planned and booked towards the end of January.  Due in part by the mutant beer flu, and the oh sooo many rules. We are hoping to go, but pretty sure yet more rules will be implemented to not sled.  If so, good chance im done, if things don't sell before hand..

So taking a trip end of Jan, when the restrictions are let up I see...wink, wink, nudge, nudge....:icon_munching:

I am optimistic that the season will be able to carry on, lots of lip service though that will be heard & read.....will it be different, no doubt, but I think and hope it will still be a season, one that will be remembered no doubt.

Cup is half full...for now :right_on:

Based on my understanding and if lockdowns don't change then you should be able to go assuming the locals including the Health region director have not Mandated a restriction and you do the social distancing ... stuff. The decision becomes a moral one of traveling from a locked down region to a non locked down region. I have not seen anything that say's I can't travel at this time.
