Where Did You Ride Today?

The owner of the Mack cabover on the post at Gillies starts it up once a year and lets it run for an hour or so. My buddy knows the owner and was up there for the biker weekend the day it was running a few years ago.

Up to run 180 & 181 north of Baptiste today. Up via Paudash Lake & 612. Ran B106E & TOP E back 225 klicks.

179 between Baptiste & B106E is a no go zone unless you dont mind washing your sled afterwards. Lots of water & slush @ the York R bridge. Also I'm sure that those of you that run Baptiste regularly know of the deadhead west of the stake line about a klick north of the South Baptiste Lake Road crossing.

TOP E was good from Detlor Rd to Coe Hill.

Be aware 2 pick ups parked beside trail south of Bessemer Jct (where TOP E turns towards McArthur Mills).

We rode out of Fergus today, up to Mount forest to the Spot restaurant for breaky. Carried on to Durham, down through Ayton, Harriston, Palmerston, Teviotdale, Arthur and back. Trails were outstanding to say the least! Our club has a shutting all trails down shortly, hopefully they can be saved for another week or so. Left the wife at home today and had a good run with the guys, needed it lol.

Baylaker, so all those trails are closing this week then? Any chance they could re open by next wknd? I see there is some snow in the forecast for later next week. I’m leaving Cuba tomo night and would love to get back up there for another run next wknd If Mother Nature can co operate

Got out with my son on ofsc trails for the first time ever on his own (bought a 2 day trail pass) did a 142km loop from kincardine / port elgin / inland and back to kincardine. Lot’s of gravel, muddy fields, snow drifted in trails and some great wide open fields.

will be looking for a bigger sled next year, as he burned over 20 l for the 142 km loop on the 300 tundra......

09MXZ and I rode from Heart of Ontario clubhouse to Haliburton. Took side trail through the Pinery on way up. Took 340 on way back, through the Pinery again. Trails are in great shape from Fenelon Falls to Hali. Rail trail and fields from Cannington to Fenelon were great. Bare patches in woods and along roads. Will need snow to stay yellow. Great day. Another 240 kms. Off to Florida for 12 days. I wasn't given a choice. Lol.

Thanks for the recent update. I am planning a Sunday ride from Fenelon Falls to Wilberforce and back in a loop. I will try to avoid the 509 which was mentioned as not very good.

Mrs Buoy and I started out from Atikokan this morning with our destination being the White Otter Castle. Lots of fresh snow on the trail, a few km of plowed logging roads , and slow-going on some twisty hydro lines had us alter our route and return to Atikokan from the west.

Also, the shoulder running on 606 west of Wilberforce has been reported to be iffy.

Thanks, I know about that one. Too bad the club lost that part of the trail. Actually only going as far as Tory Hill .

Two days with son in Sudbury area. Staying at the Valley Inn. Feel bad for moonlight and Chateau Guay owners - cut off from trails, so we're trying out Azilda lodging.

Motel owners are nice. Property is well kept.

We were just saying the same when in town today, looked like one group of 5-6 sleds at the chateau. It is usually jammed full this time of year.  Seen a Couple at the Norvic. Sad to see the chateau so empty this winter.

Great day on some new to me trails. Mostly old rail lines but the Top E portion between Smith Falls and Harrowsmith is really nice, not just a straight line like the 311 is. Too bad this warm spell will likely screw up that area, wide bare spots on the K+P just north of Harrowsmith.

Just over 300k for the day. Thanks to all the club's we passed through today.

Also, noticed a lone rider on a Blizzard somewhere near Portland. He was taking a break just off the trail in a small pull off area. Thought maybe revrnd was in the area, but didn't look like the coat I had seen in another thread.

Most have already shut down, they should’ve closed it all up. My machine was running a tad warm yesterday. I can only imagine how how hard the weather will be on sleds today. There’s a chance they might reopen IF we get snow later this week. But it won’t stay open in the south for long if it does reopen...more warm weather to follow the snow. I hate to say it, but yesterday could’ve been the last good day in the south.

Left Harriston, headed towards markdale and back.Almost 300km and most trails were awesome.Good idea to close but not sure these trails will survive. The south did a great job this year with the snow they had .Big thankyou to all the volunteers.

LOL

Nope. Not me. Closest I've ridden to that area is Kaladar via Tweed probably 10 years ago.

Spoke w/ a 1200 owner on the way out of the village & suggested a loop for them. Saw several other Buzzards during the day. Didn't see any teal or magenta 'doos.

I think your right, I’m also thinking the same thing. This snow is disappearing very quick. Yesterday was thin in some areas and today will just cook the trails. There’s still tomorrow to get through which will be warm like today. I think the south might be over. Unless we get another 20-30cm...

I headed up D for breakfast at Port Sydney this morning. It was minus 11, the trails were great, so I kept on riding.

20200223_091526.jpg

Orrville Bakery still has the best coffee in the area. No trouble stowing a small takeout bag in the back of the sled.

20200223_154545.jpg

On the return trip I encountered a northbound flock of sleds, one of which had NUNZ on the windshield. No pictures.

Saw a guy sunning himself on Lake Joe. He said he had 12 inches of ice.

I like the colour of this large cottage.

20200223_155252.jpg

I've used a similar colour myself in a few places.

Gassed up at Campbell's Landing to avoid the bare pavement at the gas bar in Gravenhurst.

Went back up D to Bracebridge before calling it a day. The trail is holding up well, but the road sections are deteriorating.
