It was "Try Our Retirement Home Facilities" free weekend here at Sunset Cove in Long Sault, Ontario in District 1....so armed with some embellished financial records

and the trail system across the street and in the area turning green on Wednesday of the week...

map.jpg.2651d65e21a65fe4beb6977dcd2e54bf.jpg

went on a no particular destination in mind tour toward Alexandria, Moose Creek, Monk Town and a bunch of other places which for some reason can't be seen on the Integrated Trail Map. First a commemorative picture of the first time I have had to navigate a traffic circle on a snowmobile to cross the road to the trail...

Coming back put down the rouskiis as about 3/4 of the circle was required to make my desired exit.....got cut off by woman in Dodge Neon with cell phone to her ear FFS...the more it stays the same the less it changes...............

A few trail pictures.....blustery snow for most of the day so contrast not so good....mid afternoon was difficult to ascertain trail features...

Historic village at eastern end of trail along the St. Lawrence....a lot of communities flooded to create the St. Lawrence Seaway...

Thought this bridge was a goner until I saw the steel frame underneath...

Trail free loaders....no pass..............

Lots of varied scenary in the area and grooming and particularly signage is top notch in this area - thanks to all involved getting it going.

After a day on the trails I can recommend (although without the any discounts or special considerations - unlike some) the

Sol De Acapulco Restaurante in nearby Ingleside.....

get a table in front of the open wood stove.

With the amount of snow here and a good base, I am betting that the trails should survive the upcoming warm weather.

I think think Denis was sucking up all the sunshine in D15 Yes the light on the lakes was iffy on Sat'

The woman in the Neon was probably involved in an important business conference call

(more like 1 of her rug rats was in trouble in school again)

It can be a short season so you want to get out and around while you can.....here is a picture FROM 2017 - (so don't panic) put up by Big Pete maybe about a week after a sledding report from Iroquois....

from the Urban Dictionary

Make hay while the sun shines-

To take advantage of a brief opportunity while it is still there. To not waste time.
The saying comes from farming communities. There would often be only a short time in which the hay would be ready to cut- reap too soon, and the hay would be too green. Reap too late, and you run the risk of rain ruining it all. Still very good advice.

i.e. "I just got a good job for the summer- I don't know if I'll have one this fall, but I'll make hay while the sun shines and save up for the winter."

(some irony in that old saying for snowmobilers I guess...)

The difference between this year and the pic of mine you reposted is that we actually have some frost in the ground this year.  The base has held up pretty well but Thursday and Friday will tell the tale for the rest of the season in D1.
